"I'd rather avoid the large open dark space. I think our problem last time was being attacked from too many sides and not being able to see our enemies in the dark. Why don't we take the stairs?"
(Correct: Lionel's goal is to get into X24, which on the plan gas no secret doors but Lionel did not check last time he was there. For him this is the place to begin the real serch. Well, first X17, but the sword was not there. Now that small room.)
"I did not mean the big hall, Mordekai. But hear, past the balcony is the room where I awoke. There is another statue in there, a strange one - I came too close and felt like it was pulling me in. I do not know if there is another entrance to that room, but I have to search it thoroughly - The Sword can be there."
The balcony is in a bad shape, but I believe we can carefully go one by one, with the rope to keep us safe from falling. The first one on the other side can fix the rope there and make it even easier for all of us."
When they're ready to open the doors to the balcony, Mordekai will cast Guidance on himself and with his extended darkvision will take a careful look through the main hall to see if he sees any danger.
One of the large amber doors is pushed open enough for Mordekai to peer out. He sees Kasimir below, his body coated in a thin layer of frost, laying where he was felled by two arrows. His head and skull intact. From this angle you can't see into the head of the statue, but otherwise the darkness is absolute, the frigid freezing cold keeps the air still, and the silence is absolute. This tomb of a temple remains dark. Seemingly clear of dangers.
Lionel moves across the crumbling creaking balcony and opens the doors on the far side, peering into the small prayer room. He ties a rope to a gap in the stone and the group, 1 by 1, moves across into the next room. This bare stone room consists of a foyer to the east and a shrine to the west. Candlesticks draped in cobwebs stand in the four corners of the foyer. In the shrine, a faceless obsidian statue stands in a raised alcove at the western end of the chamber. Slumped before the statue are two desiccated corpses in tattered garments. Two pairs of alcoves line the north and south walls of the shrine. Frozen glittering blood adorns the floor in a smear near the middle of the room. Lionel's blood.
Everyone make a wisdom saving throw DC 16, including Lionel. I believe you get a +3 for being near Lionel.
Ulthan hrmphs and then decides that praying in front of the evil statue is obviously the best thing to do in this situation. Save: 16. But he apparently manages to just barely shake it off like a weird cobweb draping his head. How lucky in this case he couldn't be any further due to how door is in position relative to how far back he can go without falling down.
Mordekai shoves past Lionel and approaches the statue, seemingly caught up in it detail. He crouches down before it, and gently strokes the stone, ignoring the group.

"The door!" Excited, Lionel turned to share his finding with others, only to find Mordekai kneeling in front of that statue. Paladin knew tiefling long enough to not suspect sudden religious stupor. "Mordekai? Snap out of it, whatever it is!"He pulled Mordekai away, as far as the room allowed, using all his strength and fighting Mordekai's attempts to return if need to be.
When Lionel turns around, Meepo and Mordekai are at the base of the statue, near two other desiccated corpses, both fawning at the obsidian statue. Lionel grabs Mordekai and begins trying to pull him away. The first few feet Mordekai doesn't seem to mind, but as you get beyond ten feet and further, he begins to struggle.
Mordekai, you've been grappled, and are being pulled away from the statue. If you get further than 40 feet you are pretty sure you'll die. What do you?
Ulthan glances over... sees the struggle and says "hrmpfh". No one else is paying attention to the surroundings. And if the only person on watch is not on watch good time to strike. So Ulthan bends down and picks up a small piece of rubble, and chucks it at the other statue worshiper, hard enough to sting, but not kill... Even if he misses he'll just do the same in a few seconds, to see if that will tick off the worshiper causing worshiper to chase Ulthan. Ulthan grins, stupid worshipers. Attack: 27 Damage: 1. Ulthan makes no move to get closer to statue... but if rock thing doesn't work, then Ulthan has good idea...
Throws a circle of rope at the kneeling figure then jumps off the edge, dragging statue man away. If that works then he runs down, then down the hallways and stays away but with worshiper tied away he shouldn't get back there. If that fails then Ulthan says "hrmphf, just push the statue over and break it."
Meepo, a rock hits you in the head, you take one damage. Turning around and seeing Lionel and Mordekai wrestlings, it obviously must be Ulthan, whose staring at you with an empty hand that looks like it just threw a rock. Mordekai, Lionel is quite strong and you almost break free but he manages to keep a grip on you and moves you another 15 feet away from the statue. Lionel, I presume you move half movement the first action, and now "dash" so move another 30 feet.
Mordekai, Lionel has pulled you 45 feet from the statue, you can feel your heart stop to beat. You feel it's probably beat its last beat if you don't get back to it. He's nearly got you out the door and out of site of the statue. Your action.
Ulthan loughs at the bumpy worshiper... "what you gonna do now bumpy, let some interfere with your worshipy or you gonna do something about it... " Ulthan goes to pick up another rock...

Sadly, I think Thunder Step is more realistically what Mordekai would do to get away from an enemy than Dimension Door.
Lionel sees Mordekai stop wriggling and thinks he's getting somewhere with him, before he hears an almighty crack of thunder and Mordekai is no longer in his grip.
Mordekai teleports back next to the statue, leaving Lionel to make a DC16 CON save or take 36 Thunder damage (half on a successful save). And everyone within 300ft hears the clap of thunder!
