The sun takes a peak above the sword mountains, bathing the mill in that warm amber light of early morning. The buzzing bugs go about their routines, oblivious to the struggles of the larger creatures of the world the now four adventures start to stir and prepare for the days journey.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Skip would wake up early and quickly begin making some pancakes for himself and his companions. As he worked to make the breakfast, he would cast prestidigitation to flavor them differently. After making a few blueberry, strawberry, chocolate, and brown sugar pancakes, he would place them on a large plate and sit it on the table. "Alright! Breakfast is served! Eat up. We got some traveling to do today! Plus it is best if we get outta here... lots of killing has taken place here and I don't wanna get accused of hurting anyone that didn't deserve it." He would say with a small look of concern.
Cooking! 5 plus 4
"The food isn't great this morning... I tried to cover up the burnt bits with a little magic... it's better than nothing though.." Skip would say, obviously embarrassed.
"Oye, top of the morning to you lot," Tibby says as he stretches. All of the sudden a crazed look in his eyes appears, "Where is it?!?!?!?" Tibby starts crawling around on his hands and knees searching frantically.
Daishi Longguard - NIGHT - Holding court at Falcon's Lodge
Harir sits to his right, as always. A lit candle on a small plate provides some light for the scrolls in front of him, and he writes quickly and neatly as Daishi asks questions. "Tell me everything,"he says, and stares into the flame while listening. Listen to the story and then file it away in its own compartment, he thinks.
Veran sits nearby, running a needle through the tunic damaged in the skirmish. The bloodstain is gone, the clothing freshly laundered. Gawain watches the door.
After some time Daishi brings the talk back to the ambush by the Forest Kings.
"Ashe and Anyll, what are you doing here in these woods?"Daishi flicks a glance to Gawain, his spymaster, and then back to the two elves. "Can you shed some light as to your purpose here? Do you know why I might have been sent to meet you?"
The gold statue is on the table, glinting in the candle light. Coins next to it in a neat pile and ready for splitting. "Is it money and treasure you are after? I wonder if you two would consider joining me in whatever comes next. I think that I can use friends, and you both seem capable."
Daishi will converse with Ashe and Anyll, if they are willing. Following that he will head to his room along with his retinue. He suggests that such a small amount of money reside in the party treasury, and can always be divided later when there is a need.
"What are you looking for?" The plump halfling would ask before getting down to help Tibby look for... something. "if you want I can look for you while ya eat, it isnt a problem.." he would say as he tries to spot anything that might have belonged to the bard.
"There it is!!!" Tibby exclaims as he grabs the stick he has been poking things with. "Now that that is taken care of why don't we go pickup your magic ingredients. I really think this glowing dinner utensil thing is going to take off. We are going to be rich!!!"
Tibby eats his pancakes a shoots disapproving looks at his non-glowing fork. "Even the burnt parts were Delicious Skipper. Do you have a glowing frying pan too?"
"You're far too generous sometimes, Skip." Jaeson mused, smiling after what turned out to be a good nights sleep. He was happy to have woken up to no dragon at their doorstep, nor any other unsavoury situation. A minor miracle, he thought to himself. "Remind me. What's the plan for today? Everything's kind of happened so fast." Jaeson looked down at his plate, mostly cleaned off, now. "Yeah, what is the deal with that spoon, Skip? That takes more than a passion for cooking."
"Oh my goodness!" Skip would shout pointing to Tibby's fork as he cast light. "We are true breakfast brothers!" He would say as he pulls out his spoon and it begins to glow as well. Skip would then hold his glowing spoon next to Tibby's glowing fork... careful not to have them touch.
"Well.. a beautiful woman gave it to me." He would say with a smile, looking to jaeson. "Well.. I thought she was a woman... actually when I first saw her i wasnt sure what she was she was so busted up". The husky halfling would say holding the spoon in both hands. "After I cleaned her up and helped her get back on her feet.. well she started glowing brighter than anything I had ever seen." He would proclaim excitedly. "A set of celestial wings sprouted from her back and when she opened her mouth... all I could hear was beautiful singing.. but the singing made sense.. In a way I knew she was thanking me. she game me my spoon.. and with it some of her power. When I described her to a cleric passing through the inn ine night, he told me it sounded like she might have been a solar but he couldn't be sure. He also said that the markings on the side are celestial text but he didnt know how to read it." Skip would say disappointingly
Tibby's eye become as large as the pancakes he is eating and whispers to himself, "We are going to be rich."
"So are there any good gambling establishments in either towns we have agreed to go to? And by good I mean horrible and full of people with questionable morals." Tibby says as he tucks his now new and improved glowing spoon in the band around his bowler hat.
"So it appears some sort of wagon thing is shooting arrows at a woman up ahead..." Bree announces to the group. She cocks her head a bit, looking around as she does so. "Off in that direction..." She gestures. "Should we check it out? It does not appear it is far off of our course..."
Waking up to the smell of pancakes was new sensation for Yessica. Eating and Listening to her new companions talk during breakfast, Yessica still can't believe how lucky she has gotten. No one has ever cooked her breakfast before, this might be the first time she hasn't woken up hungry.
"Thank you for the breakfast, sir. As the Triboar Trail runs east, it passes through the ruins of Conyberry, a town sacked by barbarians years ago. I doubt there are any gambling establishments there, but there is a ruined temple south of Conyberry where it’s said the locals hid all their gold.”
ooc Sorry I posted thinking DragonDenn was your character Reaper. I am in a different campaign with her.
"Well then," Tibby pulls out a small turquoise coin and says, "Let us see what what our fortune holds."
Tibby whispers into his hand that is holding the coin then flips it with a ding, the coin spins in the air almost too long and drops back into his hand. Tibby smiles at the result, puts the coin under his hat, starts strumming his lute, and walks out the door.
The DM would probably chime in at this point to tell you Tibby has no idea where any of these towns are.
The umbrage hill four head out after enjoying their breakfast, the wind is light, the sun is pleasant and they are glad to be away from the smell of death at the mill. They make good time and cut across the Star metal hills following a game trail. Stopping for frequent breaks, Yessica keeps her eyes peeled looking for sign of anyone following them.
@ skip
Have you shown anyone the stuff you found on the Red Arm squad leader?
Nope, Skip had collected it all and quickly stuck it in his pack. He had planned on sifting through it all and dividing it among the team once they got into town so if people wanted to sell any of it they could. If anyone were to ask Skip for anything he would give it to them now.
As the party collected their equipment and got ready to begin their journey, Chip would spend some time placing his cooking utensils back into his pack. Pushing around the books and other items collected from the bodies and the mill, he would pull out the rolled up piece of paper and quickly examine the wanted poster before placing it back into his pack.
As the halfling makes his way along the trail, holding up the rear because of his short legs and heavy build... he would look to his companions and think back to the night before and how lucky they were to all be alive.
(OOC: Does Skip recognize the face on the poster?)
"We should assess the situation first before we- Oh what the hell." Noa shook his head as Perzy'S charged forward. He followed suit and managed to catch up with his companion after a short while.
"Let's see what we're up against first so we can plan accordingly. I'm hoping the odds are in our favor." he said to the hobgoblin.
As you approach the area Bree's familiar communicated the action is going on, you pull up and tie off your mounts in the thinning treeline so you three can creep forward to get a peek. You lay on a ridge overlooking the road that connects to the triboar trail and just off to the north of the road you see a goliath woman taking cover behind a boulder and what looks to be a bugbear off to the left diagonal of her position he is standing there with javelins at the ready and a morning star at his hip. Further off too the right of her position, you see the wagon/contraption. There is a covering shaped like 1/2 a barrel with port holes all around and the strangest thing is the propulsion system. Several domestic pigs lashed to the front instead of oxen or horses...
As you watch, it appears the bugbear is issuing some sort of command and a ramp drops down from the back of the wagon. The top lifts up and you hear some sounds coming from inside as it slowly descends the ramp and works it's way down into a flanking position opposite the gnoll
