Adray held what he thought of the conversation but then placed a hand on Reya's should saying, "we have a map, and a rough idea of where he should. Let's find him and then we can ask the truth if the situation."
“That sounds like a good plan Adrey.” Polly agrees “but what do we do about the dungeon? Do we leave it for FF to clear later or do we do it now?” She looks around at everyone. “And I just want to add that I’m running out of magical power” she turn to Fran and accept the amulet and wand “Can I borrow one of those small crossbows of yours?”
Fran would blink a couple times impressed with the accuracy and swiftness of the gentleman. She definitely respected the loyal master at his craft after his sharing of data and information. The artificer would stand there with her hands on her hips for a moment while she and the party processed the information. She'll happily accept the map if no one else jumped to grab it first.
A thought would pass her mind and she'd look to Falastar and Lady Satiir, "Sorry, more questions. We ran into a fancy grey-haired woman back uhh. There." Fran would point out the secret room with the alter that they found her in. "She got away an' I have this feelin' she could have been important. And she said Odius. Any one we should be aware of?"
The tinkerer would nod her head to both Falastar and Lady Satiir, "Your generosity is appreciated."
"I agree with Adray as well. Let's find the man to investigate further and not get too ahead of ourselves. One step at a time ya?"
"Yeh, of course." Without question Fran would offer Polly her light crossbow and bolts. She only had one, but was equipped with plenty of blades and still had Brutus at her side. "I still got plenty o fight left in me."
To Adray's inquisitive eyes the man looked and sounded as genuine as one can be. And as someone who realized, that he took the task he was not ready for. The box is of obvious importance to him, most likely for the reasons he gave - to bring it to the Candlekeep. Lady Satiir most of the time was a cold statue of disgust, though, Adray could tell, directed not at him, but at the situation.
Woman's description (Falastar asked for more detailed one) made both him and the Lady to grimace: "That was Duke Thalamra Vanthampur herself. And the name could be one of her devils - there are several around here, given to her by the Hell itself. You said she got away? I am afraid, she did not wander too far. These rooms between Tavius quarters and the vault, numbers 31 to 34 - these are the Cultists’ Quarters. She could retreat there and now they will sweep the dungeon in search of your party."
"I am ashamed to say it, but I am counting on your group now as means for me and the Lady to escape. My eternal gratitude to you for the freedom." He bowed, and if not stopped for any reason, left with Lady Satiir.
"Shi*, Shi*, Shi*." Adray says more to himself than others as he begins to pace a little. "Well, the missions gone tits up... sorry... I guess the only course of action is to finish this up with haste. We need to find Thavius and check out the vaults."
He then turns to two captives and said, "Before you make your leave from town, you need to stop and see our captain. He can take down an accounting of what you witnessed. Last we saved a prisoner, they left and we got an earful."
"I am not going to leave any time soon - I would like to see that box, nor do I plan to hide what I learned. There may be more prisoners in the villa itself, though. Vanthampurs methods of "negotiation" are quite ruff. I am sure at least some of them will be brave enough to testify."
"Just find me when you are done here, and I will go to your Captain."
Choir wonders what is going to happen when the captain hears what they have got up to...perhaps the Flaming Fist will show up in force to come to the rescue...of Duke Vanthampur from the rogue guards who broke into her villa without direct orders...

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
V30 is a dead end. Sort of: the tunnel is blocked by a 10-foot-square barrier composed of vertical iron bars with 6-inch gaps between them — enough room for a rat to saunter through, but too narrow for normal-sized people to squeeze through. The bars are embedded deep into the stone of the floor and ceiling.
"Do we want to go for force at this time or continue with our rouse? I dont think Vanthampur will fall for it twice. Thoughts now or we head out." He says.
”I got about one strong spell and one lesser spell left in me. After that I’ll have to rely on Frans cross bow and some minor spells like fire bolt.” Polly chip in. And to Ordrag she say “I could have Owis scout V30 if you want Nibs, but I doubt we’ll find anything of value.”
After careful consideration, the group decided to move back to - as they now know - the vault. Owis proved to be an invaluable scout again (as clean as the tunnels are, the rats are present around here and Owis, even with his strange look, does not stand up that much. Group (without disguise this time) followed silently in around 100ft (to maintain the link between Polly and Owis) with only Brutus's metallic paws clanking against the stone floor rhythmically. Reya, who very reluctantly let Falastar go unpunished for outrageous suggestions of High Overseer treason, kept her silent anger inside.
At first glance the tunnels look empty (not counting dead bodies of two cultists on the floor). But as Owid turned to the vault, he (and Polly) heard distant but clear sound of several footsteps, coming from the most west corridor (the group is under V21 somewhere). Most likely a group of cultists were heading your way, sweeping (as Falastar predicted) the tunnels in search of adventurers.
Adray, having removed the cultist garb, donned his newish green dragon mask. When they were informed that others were approaching, Adray signals for group to stop and move around a corner or doorway, whicher is nearer. "Set up a firing squad. We'll hit them as they round the corner." he says quietly.
If agreeing, everyone should have a readied action to fire or throw a ranged weapon.

"I would not hope that much for an ambush," Reya shuck her head, "they are searching for us already and if we can hear their footsteps, they might as well hear ours. Talks too, by the way. Also, is not it a dead end there? We do not know how many are they and if they have some magic with them. But I will do as you decide, of course."

If no one disagrees we can make our way. Hed put up no strong argument for the vault or the guest room first

Nah, me just wanna make sure nothing sneaks up on us from behind, says Ordrag. Me prefer a head-on fight. We kick the door down this time, eh?
