Fulcra shrieks, "AHH, A GIANT FROG JUST ATE A GIANT SPIDER...AND A GIANT SPIDER JUST ATE BRYN!!!"   His brain seems to click in.  "Oh...I see."   He looks around, at the blinded frog, at the aldani child, and the giant horrible spider looking Bryn..."It can't see you jumping, it's face is in darkness, so unless it cares about my shrieking...we need to get it's attention...."  He HEX's the giant frog creature as a shadow coelesces in his hand and he flings the shadow like a blast of force at the back of the frog.  

Attack: 13 Damage: 8

"You know, that reminds me of this Thayan story about an old woman, who swallowed a fly, so then she swallows a spider to catch the fly...actually, nevermind, I'll tell you about it later."

Immediately after hitting the surface, Celtra had a mouthful of clean water from her waterskin and was swishing out the awful taste in her mouth.  She then followed the others to where they stood and watched the scene with the child.  While the others busied themselves, Celtra had to ask herself, did they need to kill the frog thing or just rescue the child?

Not sure of the answer, it didn't change her course of action.  She drew her sword, took a few steps forward and focused her energy.  She gave the sword a small flourish and then slashed forward sending a rippling shockwave toward the creature.

Eldritch blast towards the frog: Attack: 13 Damage: 4

Taman moves to the water's edge.  He casts ray of frost at the frog thing.

To hit: 25

Damage: 7  If it hits the frog's speed is decreased by 10 feet.

"You need to come now!" He calls to the small lobster folk on the island.  "While it is blind and distracted... Hurry." 

A globe of darkness appears around the head of the froghemoth; it immediately goes still with a startled snort-grunt.  Tentacles raised, exploring its surroundings, it lies in the water unmoving, slowly crunching on the giant spider’s exoskeleton in short spasms; the legs wriggle as they are sucked into its mouth.

Suddenly Bryn’s ribs sprout from her body into spiderlegs, as Azaka kicks the water and yells at the creature, before morphing into her tiger form.  The creature spins in the water towards them as they take off sprinting.  An eyestalk pops from the globe of darkness as multiple synergizing blasts of energy strike the back of its head, and with a roar quickly muffled by bubbling water, the creature submerges, deciding this is all too much for a weeknight despite the prospect of delicious snacks.  You all breathe a sigh of relief as you watch the ripples of the beast under the water recede in the distance.  Bryn and Azaka return moments later, breathing heavily.

The aldani child, adorable, with large oversized head and eyes, seems too scared to move its location despite Taman’s and the Aldani adult’s exhortations.

Thoughts?

"Quickly, now is the time to get the child," she says aloud.  She then sheaths her blade and points at the lobster creature.  "Quickly, take me to the cliff and I shall retrieve the child."

Fulcra, "Well, that went waaaaay better than I thought it was going to go.  I'm too far away to send a mental message to the child...Taman, can you send your pet over there to encourage it to get down?"  

Spider-Bryn remains on guard, pacing side to side, scanning the water and surrounding area for any movement. She didn't believe that it would be this easy. The task wasn't complete yet.

Fulcra sidles away from Bryn and refuses to look at her. 

Cimeri did not understand why adult aldani was not trying to reach the child - was there some other monster in the water separating the rock and the group? "May be you should try to call her? Or do you afraid another predator is near by?"

"Sabastian cannot reach the child either."  Taman says with a shake of his head.  "Someone is going to have to go get the child, and I am not the logical choice for that."

Fulcra, "Well, I'm not the best athlete or swimmer, but if no one else will volunteer I'll try..."  He begins to peel bits of clothing off.  "I'm going to get a horrible disease from this.  Taman, I'll be counting on you later..."   The goal is to swim over to the rock. 

Ooc, Celtra offered to help go get the child, even on calling for the lobster creature to help take her out there.  Was just waiting on a response before hand but she wouldn't  decline help from Fulcra.  

Fulcra quickly steps back, “oh...great. Ya. No. You go girl. You got this. You’d probably end up having to rescue me as well. I’d me more of a burden.” 

Taman casts Guidance on Celtra.  (Add 1d4 to one of your ability checks in the next ten minutes.)

Turning her head towards the others she says, "cover me" and then jumps into the water and begins swimming towards towards the cliff with the child.  If she is able to make it to the cliff she will then attempt to climb if.

Athletics check: 18, second roll if there is advantage or disadvantaged deemed anywhere 19 and then guidance 3

The adult Aldani nods to Celtra and its multiple legs scuttle it forward into the water; Celtra's clothes and armor lie in a heap nearby as she wades into the swamp water in her underclothes and wraps her fingers around one of the chitin plates as the Aldani surges forward.  Scrapes and cuts appear on Celtra's legs as the lobster tail flails up and down through the black water, hard edges of exoskeleton scratching her skin.  The Aldani is clearly more adept at movement in the water; it's only moments before they reach the massive upthrust of rock.

Looking over her shoulder for the froghemoth, Celtra leaps off the back of the Aldani, forearm tendons popping out as her fingers grip the slimy, mossy rock.  She deftly climbs hand over hand with ease, moving like a spider up to the Aldani child, scoops it into her arms and drops back down.  Within minutes, the rescue operation is over and the the air is full of lower and higher clicks and chatter; Taman understands these to be joyous exclamations of parent and child reunited.

It's clear to anyone with a healing background that two of the child's legs had broken; the pieces come together as to why the child wasn't moving on its own.

The adult Aldani turns to you all and holds its claws forward upside down in some kind of submission or thanking gesture.  Taman relays that the creature is astonished by your help and incredibly thankful.  It offers you a hidden cave to spend the night in; it can't bring you back to the village as the Aldani are very afraid and superstitious of outsiders.

A longer 'tunnel-travel' later and you're settled in an under swamp cavern with a small chimney to the surface for air.  The Aldani says they will post a guard over the chimney, and will be back to lead out and to another tunnel in the morning.

After having cleaned herself of the swampy grime and bandaging her scratches, she redressed.  Feeling slightly more comfortable, she says, "I think that was a smart move.  All this tunnel travel has probably bought us time with the weretigers."

Fulcra, "Indeed. I'd like to see them follow us now. Ha. We are in the clear for sure, there's no way they'll be able to follow us!" 

He glances around the room as everyone gives him sour looks.  He shrugs and pulls out his sleeping mat. He mumbles, "This day has been most amazing. Hopefully this isn't where the lobster folk keep their next meal....but I'm really too tired to care at this point."   After a few moments of silence he adds, "That's not true. I care."

Spider Bryn would chatter and pat her front legs to cheer Celtra on. Once the warrior returned with the child, the spider would circle around to investigate their condition before skittering away.

The druid would finally shift back to her original form as she collects the warriors equipment. Bryn would return with Celtra's gear and hand it over to her to re equip. She'd return to the child with the broken legs to treat them before taking the long tunnel ride into a cavern.

Fulcra steers clear of bryn that evening. He does give Celtra a pat on the shoulder. “More than just pushing then. Good job.”
