Regrouping after fight in front of the Harrier, Lia hops out as Oswin and Alden take a look, curious about how the contraption works.
With Alden's help, Oswin manages to find several panels along its body in search of a power source. He eventually locates and opens a hatch behind the compartment with the controls. Inside, he sees a couple of cube-shaped crystals, one about the size of his fist and one several times larger than that. They both have a number of imperfections such as occlusions, inclusions and etchings that, on closer inspection, seem to be deliberate. The smaller one is glowing brightly, possibly from the magical energy Lia lent the vehicle. The larger of them has a very faint light within.
Nessarian approaches and takes a look, himself. After a moment of observation, he runs a small current of magic to see the effects, if any.
Arcana: 24
The small crystal glows more brightly for a moment but quickly fades back to its original luminosity as the light in the large one gets more intense and stays at the new level brightness.
"I believe that both of these crystals may be some sort of magical capacitor. One for short-term and the other for long-term. Before we came along, they may have had a minimal amount of magical charge. Otherwise, I doubt this vehicle may not have activated."
Alden will step back a bit and let his new companions look over the devices and make their assessments. This is entirely out of his league of expertise. "I'm more mage than a technician.", he says.
"There are also a few warning things I noticed." Lia says as she gestures to the seats and the items there that she noticed meant some sort of maintance was needed. "Looks like some other upkeep might have been missed on the thing...b"
"With something this complex, I don't think even their creator could repair it by rote. There must be some sort of literature concerning its operation and repair somewhere on the premises..." Nessarian muses.
"If it be not covered in fur I'm as lost as a polar bear in tha desert, but I can help ye look for a manual!", Gulgus says. He then goes back into the substructure where the table was located and looks about for something that may help those more mechanically inclined.
The group splits up to search for information about repiaring the various constructs in the main chamber. Gulgus returns to the substructure and while he doesn't find anything immediately related to the investigation,he does rediscover the door on its far wall.
Oswin moves over to examine the other covered objects, seeing if they're built the same way, "I haven't got any idea, maybe our patron over there might and just forgot to tell us."
Gulgus is the first to go inside the new room. It is much smaller, around a quarter of the size of the room with the ruined furniture. He sees what could be the remains of an office; a barely-standing desk, the crumbled remains of a chair, a collapsed cabinet with its contents - a large number of faded yellow paper- on the floor. As he looks around, he realizes he wouldn't even know where to begin.
Oswin begins to question if Nessarian was withholding information as he removes the cloth from the largest of the constructs. This one has, by far the largest body and wingspan. The side of the vehicle reads MODEL 4: PELICAN. Attached to the front of its wings are a number of cross-shaped structures. There is a large, slightly open hatch on its side.
Alden - who has evidently seen his share administrative offices - joins Gulgus in small room. He opens up a few drawers in the desk and discovers a number of large volumes. On their spines are titles such as Principle of Fixed Wings and Aerodynamics, and The Upper Reaches. However, the majority of them have more succinct titles, some of them he recognizes: Model 1: Heron, Model 2: Peregrine, Model 3: Harrier, Model 4: Pelican, Model 5: Starling, Model 6: Gyrfalcon
Lia, looking over the two's shoulders, speaks up. "Those are the names on the constructs." She says, pointing to the books with the names of the various crafts on them. "Can you give me that one..." She asks, pointing to the one with the name of the construct she had tried using on it.

Oswin immediately begins examining it, trying to find a power source first.

'Thank you for the healing, my friend." Alden says to Gulgus.
Alden will go and assist Oswin with his inspection of these mechanical curiosities.

Oswin continues to look over it, trying to understand how it was made and by who, “I’ve got some experience with artifice, but nothing at this level.”

"Probably should look around some more then..." Lia says, though she pats the craft with a hand, clearly having connected with it.
