Lia is a pretty, white-haired, half elf, wearing silken clothes in the heat. She brushes some of her wayward hair behind her ear as she looks over the two strangers. "We are traveling onward, she points towards the direction their guide told her previously. "Not back to town, as of yet. You are welcome to join us, if you wish to do so."
Gulgus looks to Oswin and says, "Nae. No one at tha caravan knew anythin' about how or when tha hole came ta be. Crazy as it sounds, it's like it just 'peared outta nowheres!"
Then turning to Lia, "A most generous offer that I most humbly accept. A good companion shortens the longest road."
Gulgus then takes a long look at the unusual draft animal hitched to the wagon nearby and raises an eyebrow with a curious look. Then an expression of enthusiasm comes over him as he asks "That reminds me... Have any of ye heard tale of a 'Steelscream Hawk'? Nothin' tickles me fancy more than ancient ruins or fascinatin' beasts and word of this hawk has led me ta believe it may be nearby."
“From what we heard, it did just appear recently.” Lia says, nodding to the hole. “Our Guide has never seen it before.” She glances to the guide in question, clearly giving the guide a questioning glance at that statement. Turning back to the new people. “My name is Lia.” She says as she gives a bit of a curtsy. “As far as the creature you mentioned, we are actually in search of that very thing on this journey.”
Listening to the interactions Alden is quiet for a moment then speaks up: "It appears fate has played a hand and brought us to you. I accept your gracious offer.' Alden says with a bow.
"So your mission is to find a hawk of some sort. doesn't sound too dangerous," he says with a smile. "Some noble want it for his collection?" he asks.
"Well I'll be a bearded halfling! Marthammor Duin be praised fer leadin' me straight ta harmonious company. Pardon me rudeness. Gulgus is me name, Gulgus Stormbrew." With that he bends over slightly in a bow, greeting his newly found friends.
Lia chuckles as she glances to these new companions. "The hawk in question is big enough to carry us all on its back, if the stories are to be believed." She says with a grin. "The hope is to use it to get to a long lost archive of knowledge."
Oswin laughs at Alden's comment, "I don't think its quite what you might think. In fact, we're hoping its something much different. And its for our patron's use rather than a simple collection."
Alden perks up upon hearing Lia's words. "A long lost archive of knowledge you say?" he asks. When he says these words his right eyebrow raises and he turns his face to the right, looking at the group with a side glance. Alden scratches the stubble on his face, a gift from his human parent. "What would you be seeking such an archive for?" he asks.
"Answers." Lia says with a soft chuckle. She shrugs. "What else would you be seeking in an archive of knowledge." She turns to their guide. "How far is our destination now?"
After the guide's response... "I think I'd have to know you better to go that far..." Lia says with a somewhat flirty smile. "Wouldn't want a girl to give all of her secrets on the first date, would you..."
Alden laughs at Lia's remark. "Not at all, a Lady must keep a few secrets to herself," he says laughing. "So tell me the stories about this archive, at least one that I might have some understanding of what can be divined about this place." he says then turns and asks, "it is a place isn't it, not some metaphor for a man, woman, or some other being?"
"What do you know about the Flying Library?" Lia asks with a raised eyebrow. "I mean, we all heard about it in our faerie tails, but what about in real life...?"

"Honestly, I could think of worse reasons to go to a lone rock in the desert," Cree says with a shrug. "One thing I learned living in this sun-baked landscape. The desert you entered ain't the one you leave."
"That being said, we're no more than three hours from the butte. You can actually see it from here. There's a reason I got so much water, and this last leg of the journey is that. "
"The sun reflects off of tiny salt crystals on the ground much more easily, making the salt flats the hottest part." Cree says as she sweeps her hand across their upcoming enivronment, "Y'all can hop into the wagon if ya can't stand the heat for too long. Frankly, shade might be your best friend from here on. Those peppers in the back can also help immensely. But, the worst part is the thankfully rare winds down there, and I gotta tell ya... Blistering, salty winds can get ta ya rather quick."
Gulgus has heard some tales of it, but under the name of the Library of Flying Books. But, the new information of the entire library being the thing flying is a novel concept.
"Well, let's get this over with." Lia says as she glances to the new companions. "I'd suggest you ride in the wagon, and get out of the heat as muchas possible." fitting action to word, she climbs into the wagon and settles into a shadowy corner.
Upon hearing the guide's words Alden will throw his gear in the back of the wagon and climb in. "This is my first time in a desert, though I had read of them, only in dime-store novels and the like. This should be an experience," he says as he tries to find something to cover his mouth and shade his eyes. Finding little or nothing Alden will settle back for the trip.
"Experience..." Lia says as she climbs into the wagon. "Not exactly what I call this, but to each their own..." She hunkers down and waits for the journey to finally be over..."
