Lumen tries again to hit the goblin he's flanked, looking nervously down at the wound on his leg but hopefully at his friends pouring into the room. He swings his sword again, trying to finish the goblin who hit him.
With increased adrenaline and the boost of confidence from seeing his other companions enter, Lumen swings hard and deals a death blow to the already injured goblin.
Next to him, Krackle slashes the point of his new blade deeply into the gut of the goblin he's fighting and watches it bleed out as it slump to the ground, its eyes aghast in the horror of death.
Stepping over to the second goblin that was on Lumen, Chrys follows in suite and turns it to puree with a brutally forceful swing of hammer; the kind of swing that might have thrown her off balance were she to miss. Fortunately, her aim and timing were true and she kills the last of them before Kess and Vesper can join the fight. (Vesper's spell is saved.)
All returns to quite again. As you look around, you all get a good view of the room. It's about 30 across and 40 feet wide, with about a dozen stained and smelly bed rolls lining the floor, which is covered in a mess of bones and litter. There's also the table and two benches where the goblins were playing their dice game, and a large open barrel just off to the side. A fire burns in a heavy iron barrier in the corner.
On the far wall, you see a short hallway that leads to a door. On the right hand wall, you see what Vesper had noticed when she came in: the body of a bloodied halfling that's chained to the stone.
The small kobold would stagger backward after killing the goblin. looking down at his bloody weapon. he would try his best to quickly wipe the blood off of his weapon with his small scaly hand before putting the weapon in his belt. "The dirk worked good... but uhh.. I think I liked throwing rocks more.." He would say as he as he wipes his hands on his robe and looks down at the goblin with its guts hanging out from its belly. The kobold would then move around and collect anything of value on the goblin bodies as Vesper gives the halfling the potion. "Is he gunna be ok? do you need any help?" He would say with a worried look.
Lumen’s legs give out as soon as he delivers the killing blow and he falls to the ground with a muffled cry of pain. He grips the wound at his leg and tries to keep it together. He grumbles mostly to himself.
”How... how does this keep happening, where I get nearly killed in these fights? That gambit didn’t work at all, and acting is supposed to be my forte. I’ll need some time to try to bind this cut, or maybe stay in the back for the next one.”
He will stand up with a grimace and go over to the table to see if there is anything interesting on it other than dice, and also look in the barrel. He’s still in his own head with a bit of tunnel vision. “Maybe I can start building up my reserves with their leftover coin...”
As Krackle searches goblin bodies, he finds a total of 45cp and 15sp tucked away in their greasy, grimy waist pouches. Lumen discovers that the open barrel is about half full of warm, watery ale that smells very yeasty, and except for the dice and a couple small pieces of stale bread, there’s nothing else on the table.
As Kess inspects the goblin weapons, she finds that while they’re sharp enough to inflict lethal wounds, they’re not cared for very well. The edges are chipped, and the scratched and dented metal is grimy with grease and bits of dried blood.
After Vesper gives Lumen one of the healing potions, she moves over to the halfling that’s chained to the wall. She sees that it’s a female. It’s tough to determine the age, as she’s been beaten and has a fresh bloody gash across her ribs that shows through torn clothing. She’s alive, but unconscious, and as Vesper carefully pours the other potion into her mouth, she coughs, spits, groans and regains consciousness.
"Lumen... don't drink that just yet," Chrys says, as she lays a healing hand on his shoulder, sending a jolt of divine restoration through his body that knits the wound together a bit. (5 HP restored) "The way ya attract danger in a battle, maybe ya better save it for a pinch."
Chrys kneels down and studies the chains holding the halfling down. "We're the Pie Pals,"she says to her softly. "My name's Chrys. That's Krackle, Lumen, Vesper, 'n Kess. We're all friends here, an' we're gonna get you out." She looks up at the others. "Anyone find a key anywhere, or have some skill at pickin' locks? We gotta get her outta these chains."
Chrys will attempt to break the chains with brute force if no one can find a more subtle way to free the halfling.
"I can help! i'm good at unlocking things... but uhh" The small kobold would pause while feeling around his robes. "I dont have thin bits of metal to use..." He would add with a frown.
Lumen gives Chrys a deep, grateful look and comes back to himself. He thanks Vesper for the offer of the potion but returns it to her untouched.
He looks around for something that might work to help pry the chains apart to help break them and free the halfling. (Help on the breaking and the searching.)

If that proves fruitless, both Lumen and Chrys grunt with effort as they pull on the chain, attempting to bend a link and free the halfling: Strength Check: 21
A thorough search of the room reveals a soft felt bag underneath one of the smelly, stained bed rolls. It contains 4 moonstones worth about 30gp in total. You find no key, but after inspecting the chains, you see that there are no manacles, the halfling is just tied up with crude, but simple twists and knots. With little effort, you're able to untie her, pull her down from the wall and help her sit down on the floor.
She was very near death, and so after being revived, she takes a few minutes to recover. By the looks of her wounds, she's obviously been abused. She looks at each of you with a very delirious expression. Her mouth is parched and when she tries to speak, it comes out as with a very muddled tone.
"I'm Lumen. We were sent to stop them. Came from Melton. Were you traveling along the road? Are you from Melton? How did you get here? What are they up to? You can rest assured. We're here to help."
He's trying to put her at ease and be calming. He hands over his canteen for her to drink, and some bits of ration hard tack to eat if she wants. He uses prestidigitation to make it taste amazing.
The halfling woman graciously accepts the bits of food and drink from Lumen. From her behavior, you would guess that she hasn’t eaten very much in the past few days. Slowly, she begins to regain her sense of lucidity.
“Yes, our caravan was traveling up the road when we were attacked by those awful creatures. It was terribly frightful. They were so... brutal, and... so... maniacal. Such little devils they are. Tied us up and dragged us here...made me their servant. It was just awful...” She recoils as she begins to remember it.
”No, I’m from Longsaddle, but I’ve heard them greenies say the word Melton a few times. That’s the little town with the wee wooden wall, right?”
"We were sent up here from Yartar,"Chrys tells the woman. "There were rumors of goblin trouble on the roads, and we were supposed to look into it. But we didn't think it'd be this bad up here! Melton ain't a very happy place right now 'cause o' these here goblin raiders. What's yer name, and are there any members o' your caravan trapped down here with ya? We'll try to free 'em if there are any survivors left. Anythin' you could tell us 'bout the raiders waitin' for us here would be real helpful, too."
She pushes the halfling woman's hand down firmly when she goes to take another bite of the rations - "Eat 'em slowly, love, or you'll hurt yerself. I know it's hard when ya haven't eaten for a while, but sip the water, an' nibble the food. Otherwise it's gonna come right back up. Yer stomach has to catch up with the rest o' you first. There's a gnome ranger waitin' outside, name's Ellywick. She can help ya recover outside o' this danger zone. If ya need help reachin' her, we can accompany ya to her."

"No, we don't have pie." Said Vesper, who now more than ever understood Arine's objection with the name. "We're just here to stop the goblins."
