Tilting his head, Kale watches the proceedings and continues to pick an idle tune on his bandore. "Are you two ladies really going to bicker so fiercly over a mere children's book?" he asks, seemingly disinterested in the proceedings. "Al-Ashari, just let the woman have it, why don't you?"
Kale instructs Joy to make a bold bid to openly discourage anyone else from vying for the book, and end this auction swiftly.
Whitegaze will narrow his eyes at Kale, then move over to lean against the wall by the exit, making sure no one gets in or out withou getting by him, jusy in case.
Fiddle has the book, holding it on the display counter.
"Very good..." blind says as Al-Ashari raises a hand to make her own bid. Immediately Nurse Joy raises her own hand in turn. "And Nurse Joy bids..." Mr. Blind says with a nod of approval. he turns his head back towards Al-Ashari with a questioning cock of his head. "And you miss? Bid is now up to 3, so you will need to bid 4 to continue..."
"I will pass", Al-Ashari's smile was even sunnier now, "want to see the whole procedure first. After all, I just came and there will be other auctions, am I right?"
"Too true." Mr. Blind confirms. "Every day is an auction." He nods towards Nurse Joy. "Nurse Joy, will you please accompany us..." The two then lead Nurse Joy through the door behind the display case, taking the book with them.
(You guys doing anything? The process is quick, so you don't have that much time before Nurse Joy returns, but you can do things if you wish..)
(OOC: If I remember correctly, the two other customers left, so the shop is 100% empty now except for us.)
Kale tells the others "You know, I think Nurse Joy might've taken a fancy to me. Just something in her eyes, perhaps. Hopefully I didn't misread it... but maybe she'll even end up being the generous sort, you never know." He grins in response to Whitegaze's suspicious scowl with an innocent shrug and moves away to look through a few more of the boxes in the room, checking for anything that catches the eye.
As with the other person who checked out the boxes, you find:
The boxes being stored in the room contain a vast number of jars filled with wriggling spiders. What purpose this serves, and how the spiders remain alive, is unclear.
While Nurse Joy is in the back room, through your telepathic link you sense another also in Nurse Joy's mind. "What are you doing..." A voice says.
"Getting this book." Nurse Joy responds.
"You feel..." The voice goes silent then, and you get the sense it withdrew.
After only a couple minutes, in the middle of Soveliss's casting, Nurse Joy comes back out of the door. She has a bundle in her arms, and seems unaffected by anything done in the back area. She walks straight over to Al-Ashari and hands over the wrapped bundle. "I believe you wanted this..." She says and gives Al-Ashari a cool look, before moving towards Kale. She gives Kale directions to the Asylum, pats through her lab coat for her badge, and does not find it, then requests Kale to come and visit her at the asylum when he gets a chance. she then leaves the auction house.
Opening the bundle, Al-Ashari finds the book of children's tails Nurse Joy just purchased.
Posessed? Or telepathic... either way, not very good. Frowning, Kale calculates the time his spell has left to affect Joy. He sends her one last command:
Take your time getting back to wherever you need to go. Take the scenic route and wander a bit, explore some backalleys. Perhaps you're even feeling like taking a swim in the lake, diving to the bottom could be very much like a new experience for you. Enjoy yourself, and let the memory of your time at this auctionhouse and the people you met here fade away as you do so.
"She seemed like a nice enough woman, perhaps only her pride was stung a bit by Al-Ashari's bid for the book," Kale replies nonchalantly. "At any rate, at least we know where she works now. Although... I'm not entirely certain I want to take her up on her offer," he adds. "Something about her wasn't quite... human."
Looking around the auctionhouse, he searches for Mr. Fiddle or Mr. Blind to see if they're still around. "Strange... Cicero said we could exchange coin here, yet I'm not seeing anything that looks remotely like a bank."
Before they go, Whitegaze will try to talk to the owner's about exchanging some coin, also asking, "I don't suppose either of you know where I could find some.white flowers growing anywhere would? I'd like some for my friend over there."

You tap on the door behind the counter and it opens a moment later. Fiddle is there, looking grumpy and gruff. "What you need?" He asks. When you explain you wish to exchange coin he nods his head. He asks how much gold you have to exchange and, disappearing for a moment, comes back with the amount of silver that would exchange for that much gold. he makes the trade with you. When asked about flowers he considers it for a moment. "Only places I know of with flowers is the Crooked House. There are gardens of them there..."

(Yes you are the only ones in the room.)
As with the other person who checked out the boxes, you find:

Kale picks up one of the jars and inspects the spiders, trying to determine how they manage to stay alive.
INVESTIGATION: 13
It is a mystery... You don't know how.
Resisting the urge to pocket the jar, Kale places it carefully back in its crate and moves back towards the auction floor, waiting with the others.
Soveliss sits back down and begins casting Detect Magic. (will take 10mins) It might not reveal much, but you never knew.
Random roll: 27
"She does indeed," a bit absentmindedly responded Al-Ashari to Kale's explanation, still pondering if they did the right thing.

""Here" seems to be a big place, we might go back to the rain and search for that bank," she put the book in her bag. "Shall we go?"

And he'll switch out 100 gold into 1000 silver if possible.
