Sorry team, had a very busy end of week with people flying down from CONUS. Been running everywhere picking/dropping people off and making an effort to show up to parties. :[
Gadus winks at Tib as he passes by, Bekate looming large on his shoulder. He takes a quick glance at the runes in the gnome's book, trying to judge if they are indeed only mundane words (1). Then he follows the others down the latter, though most-like not as stealthily as the others (2).
The runes do not appear to be magic in any way beyond the common magic of a well phrased thought and a well placed word.
With deathly quiet steps, the party descends the rope ladder, finding themselves standing on a reclusive shelf just beneath the more open passage above. A singular tunnel leads away from the abyss, into deep shadows...
Following the path as it twists back into the tunneled bowels of the undercity, you find your way to be relatively straightforward and clear, following a single tunnel cut straight into the solid rock, though very dark and completely unlit. After several minutes of this kind of progression, you notice what seems to be a yellow-red cloud ahead of you - light, reflecting off of the smooth tunnel floor.

“Um, I do not know to much about nature (OOC nature check 7) it I believe that (pointing towards the cloud) may not be a good thing.” Sereena says to the group.
She prepares Bless not knowing what lays before her party.
”Best be prepared for anything,”she says as she slowly walks forward eyes open for anything, Greataxe in hand.
Anansi takes up a position behind Sereena, peering over her shoulder. Having put the knives away to climb down the ladder he snaps his fingers and summons them back in to being. "Do we need some light? I can help if we do."

(sorry all - just came down with the flu over this week. Hope to get caught up and healthy over the weekend.)
Bekate, flying ahead, reports what appears to be a natural rock chamber at the end of the tunnel. Through Bekate's eyes, you see walls shaped like flowing glass, reflecting light across thousands of facets. In the center of the room sits a small brazier of glowing brass, filling the room with the smell of baked earth and distant smoke. Bekate's eyes, unaccustomed to such drastic changes in light, seem to detect odd marks along the floor, as well as a few lumpy objects, but struggles to identify them clearly in the bright reflected lights.
Sereena is next to enter the room, Greataxe in hand. Her keen eyes gather in the situation, and, judging from the blanket and pack on the far side of the brazier, it seems that this room served as a camp for someone. The walls and floor of the room share a peculiar mineral quality in that they seem to reflect light much like glass, but are also oddly warped, like a frozen liquid that never truly crystallized. Seems solid enough, however. The swirls of the floor seem to follow a distinct pattern, swirling slightly up to and around the area between the pack and the brazier. A large metallic object lies beneath the blanket, if the small handle peaking out from under the cover is any indication.
“Well this is ominous. Has anyone seen something like this? It maybe originated from over there.” Sereena says as she points to the pack, brazier, and the object just peeking out of the blanket.
Carefully pulling back the blanket reveals no traps, but instead an ornately carved hammer, apparently crafted from a single piece of extraordinarily dense metal or rock. It gleams dully in the brazier-light, but is otherwise completely inert.
“Of course I do not want to be cursed. Do not mistake my impatient tone as a lack of appreciation. It is more you caught me mid step and off guard.” Sereena says as she steps forward. “Now, let us se what this sack holds and what this hammer is all about.”
Sereena checks the bag first. Then moves to the hammer.
The bag contains about two meters of light fabric, richly embroidered with brightly hued threads. The pattern seems to be impossibly intricate, and the item seems quite valuable. Beneath it lies three small sealed flasks made of the same burnished brass as the brazier and a book wrapped in tan leather.

Anansi climbs down the ladder as quietly as he can.

On the far wall, a large metallic door covered in gnomish runes stands shut, starkly dark against the reflective material of the floor and walls.
“Well this is ominous. Has anyone seen something like this? It maybe originated from over there.” Sereena says as she points to the pack, brazier, and the object just peeking out of the blanket.
She moves to withdraw the blanket and pack.
"Wait!" Anansi hisses. He then proceeds to check the machine, tarp, and the area around them for traps.

Gadus trails behind the rogue and paladin as Bekate circles the area -- the mage waiting to see what develops.

“Well, Anansi?” Sereena says in an obvious, attempting to be patient tone.
Anansi studies it for a second before waving her forward. "Seems fine. But I'm no expert in these kind of things. You get cursed, your problem."
