"I still believe the main thrust needs to be to get everyone into some sort of shelter." Michael says, standing up to address the assembled. "We should spend our time now rebuilding homes and maybe a tavern, to get the people settled once more." He glances to the others in the group that arrived with him. "My skills lie with crafting and with the lands outside of the city. I feel that I would make a good Magister or Martial..." He then takes his seat again.
"R-roofs are important, but walls are more important." Tarkkin slips in. He fiddles with his three-fingered hands and mutters, "It's still warm and we have tarps for rain. So making something to help people feel sage, especially after almost dying would be good."
Falros will shake his head, "I disagree Tark, if the attack was by roving bandits, walls might help, but what good would a wall have done against a drake? I think Mikey is right, we need shelter first. As far as construction goes anyway, but we also need to keep people fed, stored food might last a while, but not forever and we'll need to start building up supplies for winter, whenever it comes up here.As for a role within this council, I'm not a combatant or a religious person, and it seems like some of the others are more scholarly inclined, so I would not be suited for those. But I am a skilled liar, so either a diplomat or councilor position would work, and though it would not be my preference, I am also used to public speaking, so if you'd like me to be the face of the council to the people its 'leader' I could do so."
Tarkkin visibly curls slightly when he's addressed, but quietly mummers, "Idon'tthinkdrakesarethatcommonthough." He doesn't voice it loudly though and simply sighs and glances around to the others, seeing what they think or want.
"I will take on the role as the town's Law Enforcer," Dainar says in a clear voice, a statement to be sure. Everyone would know however they could approach him with an alternative and he would hear them out.
"This is how I see our time spent. We have enough resources to begin construction of a housing unit now. It will use all of our industry however. So from our four points we should task one to building, one to cutting lumber, the last two should be for hunting, whether that be actual hunting or fishing.
"This will allow us to be able to complete one more housing by the end of next week. There is an open argument to splitting the hunting in to farming and hunting."
"I agree with Dainar on how we should spend our time. As for a position...", he thinks for a minute, "I have skills with magic, so a Magister would fit. I also have experience tinkering and would do well as a Marshal. Lastly, would like to throw my hat in for Spy Master or Diplomat. I grew up surrounded by politic intrigue and have some thing of a knack for it."
Winni looks around trying to gauge his peers.
"Basically anything where I can be crafting, either with my hands, words or magic, would fit."
(Great! For now let's go with the positions suggested in the private chat, if anyone has anything to say about it, we can discuss it there! Also, again if you don't like what we currently have, feel free to suggest your own. I could totally see something like 'Master Merchant' or something as a council role. I am also adding in a date, we will start at the First Week of the Typhoon Moon (April), Year 847 of the New Gods.)
Also, I'm adding more mandates, specifically Fishing and Gathering. They do the same thing, but for food/industry respectively. Basically, they do not guaranteeing any resources, but each Civilian point put in them will force a random event that could be good or bad. The current unhappiness of the Town will not affect random event luck until about Early-Mid Summer)
The two elderly adults watch you debate back and forth on your positions and possible ways to lead the town going forwards this week. Once it seems like everyone has more or less settled on a position, Gerder speaks up again.
"That was a great introduction. Before we get into mandates, let us decide how we want to celebrate this new direction for the town going forwards, so we know if we have had to spend any resources. I foresee a few options going forwards. We could of course do nothing, but that might severely depress the citizen's who need something to push them past the tragedy of earlier today. We could hold a town sanctioned party or feast, use some of our best food we have left and provide them with some entertainment for the night. Something like that may even evolve into a sort of holiday in coming years. I suspect something like that may eat up some of our food reserves, but will increase overall happiness which leads to better random events occurring. Another alternative could be whipping the citizens into a construction flurry. Each Civilian Point could equal two construction points, which could lead to buildings constructed fast; but also massively reduce the town's overall happiness, perhaps worse then doing nothing this week. You are welcome to suggest ideas of your own, I can try to foresee how they may pan out in terms of resource consumption and effects."
"I do not believe driving the people to be more productive is a good idea." Michael speaks up. "Work under that sort of pressure is bound to be shabby and not last. It would be better, to me at least, to give them something they can enjoy, to get their minds off the situation for a bit, then let them hit the work hard tomorrow."
"I agree with a feast or party. Getting roofs over heads is important, but we don't want to sew the seeds of later revolution, do we? I don't know all that much about woodworking, but I intend to be seen helping construct the buildings with the others when the time comes." Ashlin said thoughtfully.
Tine looks around taking in what her companions are saying trying to think of a good plan "What if we go to the mines and see if the elemental may have survived some of the blast - we could try to work with them and offer them citizenship instead of slavery. They could help to build the wall freeing the people to build houses and a tavern. Then we could work on reestablishing a relationship with Lavender's Gate, I'd be willing to go speak to both of these parties for us - I have a knack for getting people on my good side."she just waits to see what they all think of her proposed idea.
She smiles looking at Ashlin "I'd also be willing to assist with the party idea and help you out however you may need me."
"Aye a feast, I agree with that. Let us pull together what we can and enjoy our success," Dainar agrees but feels the need to point out, "Remember, my suggestions about the hunting, building and such was for the coming weeks not tonight. Tonight we should certainly indulge ourselves and have a good time.
To Tine, "You have an excellent idea there. In your opinion, can this be done in the morn or is it time sensitive?"
Ashlin blinked in surprise, then she smiled and gave Tine an approving swat on the bottom. "Good thinking! I'd confused the elementals with golems and was thinking of them as mindless creations, but if they're willing to join us freely that would help our efforts a fair bit."
Winni looks from one person to the next and then responds "I agree, a celebration of the reestablishment of the settlement. And I agree with Tine. The sooner we open trade with Lavender's Gate, the better. As for the elementals, they would be handy to have as friends."
"I think our party should include a proper send-off of the deceased. I know that's not a traditional part of parties," the White Wolf sighs. "But we should do something to honor those who were lost."
Shuffling in his seat for a moment, the White Wolf goes on. "In my clan, I was called on for religious guidance and ceremonies honoring the fallen. I... I worship Ilmater, and I'm sure most of the citizens don't follow him, he's not so well-known, but... perhaps I can do something more - general for the time being?"
Ashlin thought for a moment and nodded at the White Wolf. "Also a good idea, honouring the fallen would give the townsfolk time to grieve, maybe have the ceremony before the feast as a kind of moving from death to life thing?"

He sits back down.

She turns to Whitewolf "Definitely, it might be better for our vision in the morning."
