Dainar felt honored that those in the village had offered these new arrivals such a thing. He saw it in each of the survivors eyes, hope that there could be something better. "I say to you, it would be a privilege to help lead such a village as this. Last night was a true tragedy but one that seemed well in the making due to the poor leadership of those before. I am a Justicar and it is my duty to serve each and every one of you here in this town. Make no mistake, from this moment on, I will do all I can to protect this town and most importantly, the people, from those that seek to strike harm upon it all." He looks around at the gathered villagers, his face hardened and true.
Tine just smiles thanking him for the information as he moves to the plaza.

As they walked around and ate Tine would begin to converse with the crowd a mix between telling stories and trying to find out more about this man named Shepherd, the mines and the mayor. When the man approached her to join them later for a conversation she never had an idea of what it would be about. She just listened and begun to think about the choices that lay before her and listened to the responses of her companions. She just smiled looking around at the rest of them "I'm in - though if I can make a suggestion. Let's avoid rebuilding a mansion where the mayor lived, I don't think he was really liked or really good to be honest. Maybe we can turn that section of the land into something useful - make it a symbol that out of something bad there can be good."

After the individuals he felt like stabbing had left, Tarkkin was eager to help out. Though as the rush of battle left his system, the subtle yet discerning self-consciousness returned and he went back to his usual background self. When people started paying attention to him and praising him, he felted shocked but mostly embarrassed and happy. He was sad to see his new friends from the ship go, but he gave them an eager (albeit shy) wave.
When they were gathered up and asked to help lead the town, honestly, he wasn't the surest....but he wanted to help, and it was a sure-fire way that he wouldn't be outcast. Nodding his head, Tarkkin threw a fist over his chest and after a small squeak, declared confidently, "T-Tarkkin came here to make a home for himself. He wants that home to be shared by good people! Tarkkin will help!"
"I like the idea of the symbolic change to the area, but would add that whatever we do with, make sure its something everyone would have and want access to."
Tine smiles as Falros speaks and then adds to her suggestion “What about a library? We could store books on healing, agriculture, magic and other topics. We could even put in a place for spell casters to practice their various arts and fighters to train with each other. Kind of a library, but a community center of sorts also?”
Falros will nod along, "Sounds like a great idea! If possible, lets try and build it piece meal, so that we can add parts on as we go, may be a little expensive to begin with. But perhaps adding on an actual school, eventually a town hall meeting area to replace this warehouse, things like that. Though given the state of the town, perhaps not our first priority. Any objections?"
Tarkkin cocks his head and furrows the brows between his four eyes, he raises a hand, "Um...what's a 'lie-berry'? Also, wouldn't a wall help a lot? Maybe a tall tower?"
The White Wolf considers Areon. "I was never the best hunter, but I can lead a party of gatherers. Forage, wild herbs, berries... those sort of things can go a long way to keeping people fed and happy."
Falros "I think you've got a point, we can start making plans for libraries and walls and everything else, but right now, we need food and basic shelter. How many buildings are intact for people to sleep in? Those who know what they're doing can go hunting, perhaps those of us who aren't hunters can help in other ways for now?" Looking specifically at the two ladies, "Perhaps we could organize some kind of entertainment? Take peoples' minds off things for an evening? I suppose I can work for now to just try and take stock of what we have and work with people to see what they want and need?"
"Yes, it is good to make plans for the future, but, for now, we need to secure what we have and make sure we can survive to exicute those plans." Michael speaks up. "I can either help with bringing food in, or start the repair efforts in town here." Seeing that there are two already planning on the food gathering, Michael nods to them. "I will leave that to you for now then, and will start putting together a group to work on repair and rebuilding efforts." Glancing around he shrugs. "I took stock of what was left after the drake attack and could use some help working to make sure we have enough shelter for the people here."
"While I am able to help repair or build as long as someone directs me, my first concern is the local wildlife and surrounding area. If I am able to take an extra hand or two, I could begin a patrol of the village, look out for anything that may want to attack," Dainar says shifting to look around the table. He liked that people were already having grand ideas for this place. Though he did agree that the three major tasks at the moment were shelter, security and food.
Tine smiles a little as people seem to take to her idea of a library, or community center. She just looks around as people begin to talk about basic needs, she just nodded as the need for entertainment may arise "Ashlin and myself could perform a couple of songs to help raise their morale. As for the best kind of walls to build for defense I'm not good with actual building, but if you give me a day or two I can maybe try to remember some things from history and try to help design good defenses for this area."

Ashlin nodded. "I'm more than happy to help with morale. Maybe if there's a large building still standing, we can use some supplies from the ship to make a feast for the villagers before we start the singing?"
"I think the ship may have already left with those cowards. So a little good with the bad there. Also, while we're thinking of things, where are we staying while we're here, I've been a little too busy to look for an inn, I'm sure the rest of you have been to. Is there an inn intact left?"
Okay, I noticed I missed some people's questions and rolls so let's get some of that stuff squared away before we get into the meat of things.
For those who rolled regarding the Drake's arcane nature and harvesting materials: While none of you were magical fauna experts in particular, Dragons and their offshoots are typically popular topics of interest and random research. Drake's are a semi-domesticated form of wyverns which in of themselves were ancient attempts at artificially creating domesticated dragons. Drakes do not have the sheer physical force as a Wyvern, but are more in-tune with their elemental magics. What you all faced was a Mountain Drake, which is perhaps one of the most territorial of the species, and more in tune with fire magic's, as was apparent with the large fireball it shot at all of you. You managed to salvage teeth and scales of the beast, but none of you were willing to risk dissection especially because of rumors of inner flame organs that can kill harvesters. These materials could prove useful for future experiments or mighty equipment, or perhaps as trophies for the settlement to remind itself of the past and future.
For rolls regarding Shepard: There is many conflicting rumors surrounding the man, making him all the more interesting. As far as he is concerned, he was a two bit adventure that got what he wanted when he was young and settled down for a normal life. Some of the town's people have rumors varying from him being a famous folk hero, to an repentant evil overlord, to a humble Saint who wanted to live among the mortals instead of the New Gods if you talked to the one or two men who had managed to save their booze from the fires. His daughter Sif, claimed that she was trained to protect the household and her loved ones by him since a young age and he's always seemed very knowledgeable and graceful in regards to combat and tactics training.
For Tine's rolls regarding towns and people's other then Saint Tyrol: Although most of the town's people weren't directly involved in communications or even trading with other town's for the large part, they know some minor things, especially those who have been in this town for the year or so since it was founded. Lavender's Gate is a landlocked town almost exactly due East, that once had used this town as a port for it's many exotic and useful fauna and foliage exports, but when the mayor started charging them more and more, they found other town's even though they were further away. The other major town that the town's people know about is one called New Poleis, they are coastal town South of Saint Tyrol, views Saint Tyrol as competition and as pro-Orellian. They are mostly representing one of the Eastern Kingdom’s, a far off place called Theros where they believe that the Old God’s are dead and that the only legitimate New God’s are the one’s born and died in Theros. There was also the matter of the Earth elemental. You know from some basic research that although they can be rather simple, they aren't necessarily mindless however. You've heard that they were all blown up in the gold mine explosions, but who knows for certain...
For some more brother drama with Areon: The boy eventually found out, when they were organizing the found bodies, he found some distraction or another for you to slip out and out the rows of bodies. You eventually found him kneeling by the body crying. He was pretty unresponsive for the rest of the day, seemingly on autopilot. You were worried about going to this meeting at first, but he was there when you were invited and insisted on you going. He even tried to fake a smile, and Ms. Fizzle was fine with watching him for a spell, especially as many of the town's people were gathered in the Town plaza after dinner for small attempts at entertainment such as story telling and rationing out the meager alcoholic surviving supplies.
One last note: Around the docks, several tents have been erected for the new arrivals and people who lost there homes. They are currently classified as homeless and will give unhappiness for as long as they remain homeless, which will be explained in the next post.
Okay folks, next post will be all about town building and council stuff. Hope your excited!
Shepard and Gerder seem pleased at the mostly positive responses from the group, and even the eager brainstorming on how to make the town better that followed. Shepard loudly clears his throat after allowing a few seconds of this excited talk, and continues in his gruff but warm tone- "Don't get ahead of yourselves now. I ain't the best at this, but me and Gerder here have lived and seen a lot, and we got some surviving documents from the wreak at the Mayor's estate." He gestures to some of the papers scattered across the table. "So here's what we got. You can give the villagers mandates, these are like instructions on what to do for the village. Your basic ones include: Hunting, which gives you instant food for the reserves, farming which is delayed but gets you more food overall, wood cutting which gives you instant industry, and stone gathering which gives like farming is delayed but gives you more industry to work with. You split up the population into units of 10, so let's say 10 units for now. You can give each one of these units, let's call them Citizen Points, one job to do per week."
Shepard makes sure he still has the attention of the room before continuing- "So that's how we get resources for the store house. I'd say this building can carry about 20 of everything. You can spend these resources, these Industry, on building or on researching. These buildings and research also count as mandates. In order to do both, you have to spend additional Citizen Points along with gathered Industry to complete these projects, so you'll have to be smart with how you divide up the populations attention. Careful though, I'd say these first two or three months are freebies for happiness, but eventually the population will grow tired with all these mandates. I'd suspect that the more mandates you are actively using in the future, the more unhappiness is generated. Once we get comfortable with our resources, we can start selling the excess to other places with trade routes, Gold is important for researching and upgrades to things."
Shepard falls silent, and Gerder naturally picks up where he left off- "You all have had great idea's for what you want to do, and we can add these to the building and possible research list, but for now we have drafted up some important buildings to get the town back on it's feet. I would say what's important for tonight is how you all want to divide your titles up, I suspect that you will be wonderful leaders of various parts of the settlement in the future, so it's important to start claiming stakes in the town's future now. I have a list of possible roles you can take up, but if there is something I haven't thought of feel free to pitch it to the table. Once we've decided on our roles, we can decide on the best way to commemorate your leadership and the town surviving the attack. Perhaps a town-wide celebration or religious ceremony is in order. Be careful not to try to much, we don't have much time or resources to spend willy nilly. After deciding that, you can vote on madates for how the population will spend the week. The floor is now yours."
(So, the introduction phase for today was the above and you guys picking your council positions. The story/random event will just be deciding how to celebrate. You guys can put some suggestions, and I will tell you the resources needed and possible results that may come from these suggestions. After that is the mandate section, and then you guys will have completed your first council session!
