(few hours will be approaching nightfall yeah? Well sunset anyway. If not ignore that portion ) Following up with the group, taking in the scenary, and making a note of the forge in particular as a place of work and possible workshop if things go that way, it takes Ashtear a moment to realize people moving around and geting home or hiding quickly. Ashtear doesn't consider possible dangers this close to town, and instead comes to her own conclusions from her time as a travler. "Well, warm welcome.. I guess people get home quick when the small population starts vanishing.. Or it is the strange troop of visitors walking up unannounced. Should we... I dunno, hail that we're from the guild?"
Manfred shrugs at Ashtear, amused at the half-elf's seeming naivete. "I think keeping a lower profile may serve us well. At least until we determine who or what the threat is in this place. Or perhaps they simply have heard of my latest ballad." Manfred grins at the thought.
He looks around. "We can perhaps poke around at the blacksmith or general store if they are open. Bad gas travels fast in a town such as this, and it may actually serve our mission should our true intent remain...clouded for the moment."
"Store be good place as any me be guessin." Dain says with a grunt at seeing the people Scurrying around so clearly frightened. "Store's da best place ta find dose willin ta talk if ye wantin me toughts..." He glances around trying to find a general store, but will go to the blacksmith if he doesn't find a general store.
Albanus eyes the distinct areas of the town thoughtfully, and notes with interest the darting figures in the shadows. Jumpy lot. Okay, in the center an inn with some shops, some farms and farmhouses, and a keep. "I think we should go to the inn first but not necessarily present our papers just yet. Maybe we should get a feel for the guild's reputation in this town? And did you all notice the keep over there?" Albanus queries as he nods towards the small keep in the cliff in the distance.
Remembering the scared townsfolk, Albanus looks at Manfred with a smile and adds, "If it comes to it, perhaps a song or two at the old inn would help raise spirits.....and loosen tongues."
Survivor will follow behind the others as they enter the town, looking around for any indication of what they’re afraid of.
Perception: 10
Survivor can make out that the general goods store is already closed but the inn definitely lools to be open. Also, looking around, there doesnt appear to be a town watch patrolling the streets at the moment. There are 2 figures standing outside the large front gate of the keep a little ways away, but other than that its too dark to make anything else out.
Manfred's eyes widen in surprise and he sneers as he hears the big Goliath's remark. Just for a second though -- he then bursts out laughing and slaps Survivor on the back, having to stand on the tips of his toes to do so.
"He talks! And even more than that, he has a sense of humour! You wound me, big man. But it was well and artfully done. You'd fit in well with the Humblers and Tumblers."
Hearing Albanus mention the possibility of story and song at Riverton's tavern, the human beams. "Aye. A town like this could use a bit of lifting. And Little Faen has not sung in oh so long." He gestures to his flute case.
"You're in for a treat big man" Manfred says, winking at Survivor. "Get ready for the full Manfred Metternich experience." His excitement to proceed to the tavern is now palpably obvious.
Following along with the troop, after being distracted looking around while the others conversed. "Humblers and Tumblerrs? Is that a troupe? Sounds a bit like a traveling circus title. Neat."
Seeing Manfred's excitment and gesture to an instrument case, Ashtear opts to head in quickly, find a seat off to a side, see if they can order food, and wait to see what happens, thinking to herself, "I'm not much for joining in, but if there's a show brewing tonight won't be boring."
If the party agrees to enter the inn, Albanus will quickly glance down at the dark scales that litter areas of his forearms and hands and thinks to himself, Everyone has something, no one is spared, polished. Then a dark chuckling in his mind, a grinning dragon's maw appears then quickly fades...
Albanus shakes his head and pull his cowl up, covering the rings of spikes that circle his head. I need a drink. He follows the rest into the inn and will look to get a glass of wine, if available.
After entering the tavern, Manfred will sidle up next to Vulgrom and slip him the letters of introduction from Leon and the Giant Slayers' Guild.
"Perhaps you should hold onto these, old boy. If these people truly don't appreciate the arts and things go tits up, then perhaps its best that I do not speak after this performance."
He then goes to the tavernkeeper and immediately launches into his sales pitch. "My friend, I have noticed the pall that seems to have fallen over this place. Well, you are in luck. My name is Manfred Metternich, singer, actor, and flutist supreme, who has played with some of the greats throughout the Empire, including the legendary Hasal Lonagan. I've only just arrived in your charming little village, and I am offering you the opportunity for me to play a intimate show in this inn. All I ask is for some hospitality for my friends, and the latest news from your hamlet."
Upon entering the tavern, you can see its a humble place. A few regulars appear to be hovering around a few drinks at a table in the back. One single staircase leads to the rooms on the second floor, with candles mounted for light peridocally hung on the walls.
Ashtear is more than able to find a available table and a halfing male behind the bar notices your arrival. Smiling a faint half smile, he rubs his face tiredly before looking at Manfred. He appears to be in his 50s, with a short stubly beard adorning his face and solid gold earing in one ear.

Although he looks tired, the halfing looks inquisitively at the human before giving a approving nod. Aye, I suppose we could use a bit more song in this place. Well met there Manfred! I'm Tom, owner of the tipsy troll here in Riverton. I'm guessing you'll be wanting some rooms then? He says taking a moment to do a quick head count of the group. Well ive o ly got six rooms so two of ya will have to double up! How will ya be paying for the rooms, be gold or trade?

Hopping onto stool at the bar, Vulgrom is generally taking everything with an impressed smile. He's quick to react to Manfred slipping him the papers and conceals them in an inside pocket. "Got ye, lad. Also, let's have a wee arm-wrestle sometime, see who's really the 'old boy'." He gives the human wink before ordering his drink. As he's waiting for service, he looks around the tavern to get some sort of feel to gauge how well some sort of merriment would go down...
Perception: 17 or Insight: 7 ((whichever DM feels is applicable))
Survivor will stay outside the bar, leaning against the wall by the door, he knows sometimes his appearance is alarming and the others want to make a good impression.
Aura, not being an outspoken person, seems okay letting the party lead her inside the tavern. While not used to most of the places in a town, and especially this one she had never been to before, a quiet tavern was generally a good place to stay and this one fit the bill, at least, until her party member offered to sing for the regulars. To the halfling's question, Aura responds to the party. "I'd prefer to be alone, but if need be, I can stay in with Ashtear. It's what makes the most sense, right? I can also offer a bit of money to pay for the rooms... How much will it be for the six rooms?"

As youre standing outside leaning against the wall, the two figures standing by the keep begin to approach. After a few moments of them getting closer you can see its two human males, each wearing leather armor and carrying a spear. They hail to you once they get within ear shot.
In the name of Baroness Morganna, regent of these lands, state your name and your buisness here. They dont look to be threatening at this time, just wanting to figure out what youre doing.

You and anyone else with a good passive perception can just make out Survivor being hailed outside by the two humans.

Upon hearing the halfling’s good news about the rooms, Albanus breathes a sigh of relief. “I’m happy to room with one or more of you - let’s keep these costs low. Besides, we’re all going to be well acquainted with each other eventually.” Albanus smiles at Aura in a friendly way, trying to set her mind at ease. (Persuasion: 15)
A voice, low and unwelcome, sounds in Albanus’ mind: Buuuut willll theyyyy like whaaat theyyy fffind? And as quick as it appears, it flits away, leaving the tiefling on edge.
Turning to Manfred Albanus says, “Finally, some sort of culture! I for one am looking forward to hearing you.” And, more quietly, he whispers “Hey I have this cool thing I can do to accentuate your performance: you know open doors slam them, dim the lights or make sounds - and I can do it without making a sound or giving myself away...would you like something like that? It’ll be honey on the top, so to speak. It could help us...”

((I'm making a pointless Insight check just for RPing purpose since I know there isn't anything to be suspicious over, but Aura doesn't. Aura is just barely able to tell there was no ill intent between Albanus's words, so she relaxes her muscles a little, but she continues feeling uncomfortable about it, even if it was all fine. Quietly, she asks Albanus. "H-huh... Could you stop with that? You're just making me feel worse, so, huh, maybe you can leave me alone?
