Otrov, the entrance to the camp is in a valley surrounded on three sides (n,e and s) by steep cliffs. It is possible to climb those walls up or down, but it looks difficult and dangerous to you. The pallisade that seperates the courtyard from the settlement is massiv 10ft tall stonewall, but the gate crumbled centuries ago. There are some wooden beams around that the brothers were using for safety when digging. With a bit of time and some rope, you could turn them into baricades for the gate. Also beside the steps leading to the temple, the ground is mostly packed dirt so if you got the tools, you may try to dig some trenches if you want.
After he finishes his dinner, while his companions look around, Relgalyn will settle down to an early night, "I'll take a midshift watch if you need me. Get some rest in early here."
"Should we pull back into the temple for the night?" Dain asks, glancing to the structure. "Seems like we could shut some of those hidden doors and be safe enough."
Otrov nods deferently. “Good thinking, Dain. A military man, by any chance?” Otrov asks her dwarf companion. She looks at the doorway, agreeing silently with the dwarf that, if beset by any large number of foes, this choke point would be the place to address them.
After two hours the two dwarfs return from the temple. Dazlyn takes a ledger and shows you a drawing of the layout of the temple. He explains to you how the casual use of hidden doors and the symmetrical layout of the temple is typical for the faith of Abbathor. There are different variations in the design that can indicate the age of the temple. He is exited about his work. At the end he pauses for a moment and looks to Norbus, who just nods in agreement with his usual sour expresion.
And Dazlyn asks you: “There is one tunnel in the back, where the rocks are to big for our magic to move them. We will have to remove the rubble there by manual labor. We have everything we need here, (and he points into the darkness, where you saw the wooden beams earlier) but with just the two of us it will most likely take us three days. If you could help us we should be able to get through in a day. What do you think?”
Otrov nods in agreement but adds, “the longer we tarry here the closer the Orcs get, and that comes with more risk. Going into the temple further also presents us with risk. Luckily for you, risk is a symptom of our job. However, we - or at least I - would require additional compensation.” Looking over to her companions, she waits for a second before adding, “what say you?”
A smuck grin appears on Norbus face. Dazlyn looses some of his entusiasm as he replies: “Unfortunatly we don’t have anything else, so i guess Phandalin it is in the morning. We will return here once the Orcs calmed down a bit.”
Otrov steps in, saying “Well, I for one am a appreciator of history. It would be a shame to have this now-cleared-but-maybe-not-for-long temple be desecrated by such brutish creatures, aye? All we’re asking for is to perhaps receive some gems or other non-historical non-essential items, depending on what we find in the new tunnel. In fact,” Otrov grins, “we’d be dishonoring the god if we didn’t ask for something!” Otrov hopes her logic makes sense to the dwarves.
The last part actualy gets you a small chuckle from Norbus : "We have no idea what is behind that tunnel, could be treasure, could be a toilet. Think about it and in the morning decide."
He weaves Dazlyn to follow him and they go and grab beams from the stack and take them where the gate is. You watch them, as they are takeing turns pushing the thick timber into the ground, creating a wooden gate around 5ft high. It only takes them around 10 minutes.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dain, you wake up in the early morning hours, only to find Dazlyn and Relgalyn sleeping on their post. You can decide what to do. But beside this, the rest of the night nothing happens. Was the new day dawns, Dazlyn and Norbus start to break camp and remove the barikads from the gate.
“Ready to go?” They ask you.
Once you are ready to move, one of you needs to roll survival ( with advantage) to navigate back to phandalin)

"I have no problems helping out, but agree it will mean something else from you guys." Dain agrees, nodding to the two dwarfs.
Relgalyn will sigh, "If that's what it takes to get you moving, fine. But you definitely owe us something extra."
