Mendax follows Vin and then listens to her plan and also Con's idea of jumping a member. Before they leave Mendax interjects one idea, "I agree we should make disguises, but Con's early suggestion had me thinking. Maybe we should follow one of the workers to their home or to a tavern and ask them questions first. They might know about a secret door. While some of us question the worker the rest will be mending the robes for our disguises. Thoughts?"
Con nods slowly at Mendax's suggestion. That could work too. Why would they answer, though? Coin? We have that, now. We could pay him enough to disappear, if the information is good. He grins. I still prefer the dark alley, but a tavern will do, I guess.
Anyway, enough discussion, time to decide. What's it to be? He directs this question at Vin.
"I agree," Vin says. "I see no reason we can't do both. Why don't we split up here; Kes and I will go get a couple outfits tailored, while you two stay and tail the first promising looking mark that comes out. See what you can find out, and we'll meet back here after? I agree we should rent a room; we may not get to the meat of this venture until tomorrow."
Kestrell casts Mage Hand behind Con and taps him on the shoulder. When Con looks back, he will make the hand disappear. If Con looks back at him, Kestrell will look away whistling nonchalantly.

"Agreed," Mendax says and then looks over at Con and says, "now you'll get a break from the kid." Mendax then follows Con back into the tavern to a spot where they can keep an eye on the bathhouse and also start planning how they want to pick and then approach one the attendants. "So, how should we go about this?" Mendax is going to keep an eye out for any attendants that seem maybe a bit slow in their thinking or seem weak to the influences of coins.
So, we’re splitting the party up, Vin and Kes are going to get some clothing tailored while Mendax and Con wait for an attendant to leave the bath house.
Vin and Kes head to a tailor not far from the tavern where they are greeted by an immaculately coiffed and dressed dwarf. His beard is oiled and manicured perfectly, he wears a vest over a crisp white shirt and slacks, his sleeves are rolled up to the elbow exposing his formidable forearms, he is played by Mark Addy. He looks up at the two of you “welcome, friends, to my shop. I’m Keldoran, what can I do for you?”
Con and Mendax continue watching the the Bathhouse, after an hour or two the masseuse Mendax recognizes as the one who drew the curtain exits and heads over to the tavern in which you sit. The masseuse is entirely androgynous, nothing about their appearance indicate if they are a man or a woman. They walk into the tavern and up to the bar where they order a drink. They turn around taking a sip of their ale. They are played by Tilda Swinton.
Well, Jay doesn't know anything about having clothing tailored, but I'm sure Vin would. So she would warmly greet Mr. Keldoran, introduce herself and Kes to him, explain exactly what it is she wants (finery made in the style that wealthy merchants and the like currently wear in The Gate,) and que the Disney-Movie-Montage of the two of us getting measured and fitted for our outfits.
Prior to seeing the masseuse and following them, Con says to Mendax: We take them as we find them. Start with some sweet talk and some gold, and if that doesn't work, maybe we try the Flaming Fist badge, maybe we try my fists. Up to you.
As they approach the masseuse, Con will hold back and let Mendax handle them at first. He'll keep a look out and check that no-one is watching them to carefully - Perception7
"Agreed," Mendax says to Con's suggestions before the masseuse walks in. Mendax hides his face behind his drink when he marks the masseuse as they walk towards the tavern. He let the masseuse get through two-thirds of his drink and then Mendax gets up from his seat and walks over to the masseuse, gives them a nod a smile, and sits at the stool next to him. Mendax plays to get the bartender's attention, but then looks over at the masseuse and says pointing at their drink, "you look like you could use a refill, friend. It's on me." Mendax smiles at the masseuse and when he hails the bartender orders a drink for both of them. "I'm new in town, the names Xadnem. What might your's be?"
Kes and Vin, Keldoran asks you each a few questions about your preferences and tastes and says “Alright, I understand you’re in a rush, so I’ll make the alterations to these pieces and you can come back in a few hours to pick them up. It will be 30 gold all together.”
Con and Mendax, Con as far as you can tell it’s just the normal goings on in the in and no one is paying special attention to you. Mendax, the masseuse looks at you and raises their almost empty drink in salute. “The names Jabaz, Xandem. Nice to meet you. What brings you to Baldur’s Gate?”
Mendax raises his glass to Jabaz, "it's a pleasure good person to meet you. Baldur's Gate? I came here on some business with the temples, but now I find myself stuck here with the recent lockdown. All this stress has given me a nasty crick in my neck. What exactly do you Jabaz?"
Kes, Keldoran takes a deep breath and remains impeccably polite with you “Well firstly, it’s 30 gold for the two sets of clothes. Secondly, cattle prices are a bit outside my purview but I think your calculations are a bit off. I assure you that 30 is completely reasonable and given that I am rushing the tailoring and not charging extra, I’d say it’s more than a fair price.”
Mendax, Jabaz’s eyebrows go up a bit when you mention the crick in your neck. “Funnily enough, Xandem, I’m a masseuse at the bathhouse across the street. Is that why you’re here? Do you have an appointment for a massage?”
Mendax tilts his head at Jabaz, "you know, now that you mention it, I could use a massage. A masseuse you say? Haha, the gods must have fated us to meet, with you being a masseuse and me with my crick. Alas, Jabaz, no I don't have an appointment, but maybe you can enlighten me on how one can go about getting such a thing."
Kes, Keldoran looks a bit surprised but says “Alright, you can wait here if you like, or there’s a small café across the street if you prefer. I should be done in no more than two hours.
Mendax Jabaz looks at you scrutinizingly for a moment before saying “Normally you would need to make an appointment at the front desk, but my afternoon client canceled so I could take you in in 4 hours time if you like.”
(sorry guys only have phone access right now so nothing fancy for me)
Vin smiles at Kes, appreciating his effort. "That sounds perfect, Mr. Keldoran. Thank you Come along, Kestrell, let's leave them to their work. We'll be back soon to pick them up."
With that she'll make her way out with Kes, and then ask him if he'd like to go check in with the others, since we have a couple hours to kill.

"Probably to a tavern, not to their home. Don't want to arouse suspicions."
Con nods slowly at Mendax's suggestion. That could work too. Why would they answer, though? Coin? We have that, now. We could pay him enough to disappear, if the information is good. He grins. I still prefer the dark alley, but a tavern will do, I guess.

"Why not both? You two find an employee and ask them some questions. Vin and I will pose as patrons and get a look around the interior."

Before they leave the tavern, Kestrell will reserve an upstairs room with Mims. How much is that?
At the tailor:
"Hi Keldoran, we are looking for a fine set of clothes. But, ah, Vin, you better take the reins here. I've never done this before."

"30 Gold?!? For a suit? I could buy a whole herd of cattle for that. Surely there is something you can do that would make it a little less expensive?"
