Wilson nods to the Ashguard, a simple acknowledgement that he knows they know. before dropping back to street level and walking back towards the meeting area to find the group.
Once inside and relatively sure no one is eaves dropping on them he will turns to Abigail, and informs the group
"I am fairly certain our friend is in the hands of these Ashguard. Which ones and where I couldn't tell you but I am sure they suspect me at this point. You raised their eyebrows in the the meeting for sure and I was not as subtle as I should have been."
Scratching where his rifle holster rests between his wings he looks at the others.
"We need more info and to make the decision on how we view these...vigilantes? I am not sure what to call them. We should at least try to find out if they have a permanent base set up somewhere. I am heading to get sleep though. This city is a maze above and below and I have no desire to make another move until morning."
If no one object/another plan put forward he will head for the roof and tuck up in a corner near a chimney or overhang.

Tarak nods as the matron talks. When she is done he looks around to make sure no one is close enough to hear and then lowering his voice he says “I thank you for the warm welcome. I seek a gnome of golden eyes. I fear he may be in danger but he definitely has some information we seek. So the sooner we find him the greater chance he will be safe. Can you tell me anything of him?”
Persuasion 6
After they are done talking he heads to find the group and stays in the same house as Abigail. While there he uses his carpenter tools to do some repairs, hanging windows and doors more securely and evenly and various other small repairs.
The Matron shakes her head. "I'm afraid not." Others begin to catch her attention and she gives another hearty handshake. "Forgive me, but duty calls." She turns on her wheels, heading off to the others to discuss other matters.
((Tarak give either a Carpenter's Tools + STR with Disadvantage to do it over a few hours & still get a long rest. Or a Carpenter's Tools + STR Check, and a DC 10 Con Save for working through the night; failure and gain 1 exhaustion))
The house with the majority of the crew is rather noisy. Sawing, hammering, measuring for (at least a few hours) during the night. Wilson, at one point in the night you wake up on the roof. A massive winged drake-like beast flying through the sky. Scanning the environment trying to find something to eat. There's a brief moment that you firmly think that being on the roof makes you a target... before it seems to fly off to some kind of herd animal off in the distance.
Morgan too has a long night. ((Give two Cooking Utensil + INT or WIS checks. One for the late night snacks, and another for breakfast in the morning.)) The group talking and discussing for hours on end. Even if they were tired, the home is busy with attempts to ask more questions and share some stories. The biggest gossip is the family hoping their son, who is working at one of the villages, was sent there in a effort for him to hopefully be selected as a husband by another family they knew would be there. Some behind the scenes matchmaking going on.
That night morning is windy, cold, and rainy. The rain isn't hard - just constant. Small pools forming along the ground and dripping from the roof. The townsfolk in the morning setting out buckets and other rain catchers. A handful of small 'drains' can be seen in the ground - seemed to be lined with finished clay to create small runoffs and storage centers.
The crew eventually meets back up inside the home. Abigail's - poorly drawn but accurate - map laying out on the table. There's the center hub town you're all in. Spiraling out are 10 other villages, five on one half and five on the other. None of them are more than two days by foot traveling at a good pace. Shorter if you don't follow the roads directly. On the River Half.... There's the town you saw when you first entered. (2 days by roads. A day otherwise. The furthest) There are 4 other villages. On the "Far" Half... There's one village that is sporadic on it's inclusion on the census data. (Not the furthest, but, 2 days by roads.) There are 4 other villages. (Range from 6 hours by road, to 2 days by road.) ((Cut "travel time" in half if not going on the roads.))
In town, you know that at least two Ashgard have a home. But did notice Wilson when he was following them.
"I intend to follow up on the Ashguard but do not think the ones in town are what we need worry about" Wilson point in the general area of the Ashguard house not being sure exactly where. "This area is likely the most heavily watched by them so if you intend to stay in this city be careful there."
He moves to indicate the sporadic town.
"This is where I think we should start but I will suggest not using roads and cutting up to it from another area," he points at the nearest town to the intended target. " Basically start heading to here, and do not hide where we are going, but change course once we can safely and end up here" he returns to point at the mystery town.
He moves back from the map and waits for the others to voice their plans.
"Wait, why do you think the Ashguard already have the target?" Abigail asks Wilson, trying to get a read on his motives. "If you believe your information to be reliable, then we would should at least try and search the house they are currently staying in..."
Abigail listen's to Wilson's plan. "Ya, that sounds about right. If the Ashguard suspect us of not being on the up and up, then it might be best to try to throw them off out tail by leaving the roads. Although I suspect they have informants everywhere, it might keep them on their toes."
"Still, there is the issue of this Ashguard house... Do you think you would be able to find it again? I yet be able at least get a quick look into the place before we head out."
Wilson responding to Abigail asking about the Validity of his information. -
"Let us just say that I am normally able to get messages to someone if i really want to. This is one of the few times in my life that I have not been able to and was informed that the Ashguard were to blame for that, and honestly for your safety and the safety of everyone else in this room let us leave it there on the when and hows. But know that to pass false information in the circles I walk in is usually an suicidal idea."
" I may be able to find it again, but sadly I must admit that They are aware of at least my interest in them. Your spell last night did not go unnoticed either. I agree checking out the house would not be the worst of ideas, I just do not have the skills I think are needed to do so without possible bloodshed." He runs a talon over his head, " And while I suspect it would be fun and sporting, I suspect the people of this area have seen enough conflict that I would rather avoid drawing their ire if we can avoid it."
Tarak nods as Abigail and Wilson discuss scouting out the Ashguard. Tarak is curious about them seeing as how the ones on the road reacted to him. He is unsure of how they responded to him but one clearly pointed at his arm. Also he reminds Abigail of how they told us not to mess with their dek.
After they settle what they are going to do Tarak looks to Morgan “any interest in looking for the youths again?”
Morgan cook rolls 1711 Morgan tells the party, "So... we aren't doing the get kidnapped on purpose idea? fine by me either way, but it might be nice to have a person on the inside."
Tarak spends the night fixing some of the easier tasks around the house. Re-leveling. Sanding. Polishing. It's a good days work, sprucing up the home, but he's certainly tired afterwards. (1 level of exhaustion - Disadvantage on skill checks)
Morgan's dinner goes over very well! People sharing all sorts of information over the course of the dinner. Breakfast the next morning is good. Perfect for making everyone feel ready for the day. (Gain 1 Contact with middle class folks in this region. Can use this to know a person in one of the villages you overheard from the dinner who will be open to talking.)
The early mornings of the Town are similar to the evenings. People coming out and saying hello. Doors and windows blowing open. Neighbors beginning to talk with each other. Kids loudly running down the street on their way to school. For a town that's rather quiet at night, it quickly bustles to life. The splashing of water from the rain seeming to echo as people begin their day.
In discussing their plans, on who is trying to go where, Lafetha agrees on joining people who want to go investigate the house with the Ashgard. With Wilson leading the way it does take... longer than expected. The turns and sameness of some of the streets causing pause before the group heads over. The street is rather quiet, most of the homes unoccupied. Around the next two bends is the two story home that the Ashgard were staying in. Due to the bends, you don't know if they're inside or not. But you do have a moment to prepare and gameplan for anything coming up.
What do you do? (And if you didn't come along to this location - what are you attempting to do?)

Abigail looks around for a house that is abandoned and ushers the others in.
"Okay, you all are going to stay here. If I am not back in about an hour, then something probably went wrong, and you can hopefully figure out how to proceed from there." She pauses to make sure everyone understands. "Now, if you would not mind... I girl needs her privacy. Could you all go wait in the bedroom for a few minutes? Trade secrets and all."
Assuming everyone agrees to give her some privacy:
Abigail cracks the front door to the house just wide enough to slip out, then retreats further in to the house - out side of eyesight for anyone passing by - and casts Invisibility on herself.
She then sneaks over to the house and attempts to quickly case it before making her move.
((Stealth: 27 and Perception: 20 rolls I figure are needed for this narrative.))
Nodding to Abigails request Wilson heads to the second floor and presses himself up against the wall near any window that will give him line of sight on the street. Rifle ready.
((Going to go with Investigation, which is also a better skill for you bringing it up to a 12.))
Abigail slips inside, and then darts across. The home is similar in design to the one you all stayed in. Some rooms are larger and others seem a bit smaller, but overall the same logistical feel to it. The Ashgard seem to keep it fairly simple as well. Bedrolls spread on the ground. Rations of picked and dried foods. Some kind of -very- fermented yak cheese which stinks of Alcohol. A large sack like the one you saw the other three Ashgard carrying sits opened beside a table: full of canteens and other basic camping gear and equipment. On a table are several small totems with the ashes of what seem to be incense. Idols to some religion you're unfamiliar with.
Laying beside the table are several letters, all written in Loxodon. You sift through them, quietly. You're unsure what they say without someone who reads Loxodon or some kind of magical assistance. But based on the bottom, there are at least 6 different names and handwriting styles. Creeping around a few of the other rooms you do come across two other items of note. A locked set of large scrollcases, stashed in one room. And one handed sized metal box also with a lock on it.
Upstairs, you hear something creek.....
Wilson from your perch with a rifle, you're able to see most the rooms of the house. Sure there are definitely some blind spots.. but overall you have a concept of the layout. Upstairs is a single Ashgard Loxodon - one of the two you saw yesterday based on the face painting - moving around. Large ears and trunk raising into the air, taking a large huff. Turning and walking over to the staircase, before returning to the spot by the window. Seeming to be doing some type of morning rituals for the day.
Outside is Morgan and Lafetha (and Tarak?), having noticed Wilson go up into the top of another building while Abigail stepped inside and... well you're not sure where that cat went. Likely having snuck out to head to the house to do some investigating. Ten minutes go by. Then another ten. Still well within the hour timeframe she gave before a "things are bad."
From around a few of the bends, beginning to return to the house, you see one of the Ashgard coming. A steady pace, large hand tossing two fresh fruit up and down. While the other hand is carrying a sack of some vegetables and other materials over his shoulder.
Tarak sees the approaching Ashgaurd and moves of to intercept him. Walking down the street looking around as if lost. After a minute Tarak looks at him and grins “Finally! A person, who I recognize! You were at the town hall meeting yesterday. Maybe you can assist me, this town is very confusing can you perhaps show me the way back to the city center? I am Tarak paladin of the Faith. What is your name?”
Morgan sees Tarak get up to speak to Ashgaurd, and stops him briefly, "Whatever you're play is, I'll back you up, your probably our best hope this doesn't go sideways." ((bardic inspiration)) While Tarak is talking they'll nod, and say things like "I told you we should have stopped for directions. We're going to be late for my tea appointment with the matron!" ((help action... somehow...))

Abigail thinks about pocketing the letters, but decides that it would be best if it was not immediately obvious that things have been messed with in the house...
Instead, she focuses on the box first, attempting to pick the lock: 25
