They circle around the central column. Along the far side they approach, several deep claw marks run along the central column. A low, deep, throbbing pulse of a base sound comes from all around. Feeling like it hits right at the heart.
The sounds of something scurrying around can be heard, larger than the clacking of bugs. But a quick glance around doesn't reveal anything (or with dark vision, any bugs, either).
Then, the sound of a large crack and a few things splintering seem to echo. Currently, only Wilson has a torch - shedding 20 feet of light (along with 20 feet of dim light).
The cavern again splits off in two different directions; (Area 20) & (Area 5).
Both Tarak and Morgan are able to find the likely source of the sound. The shell of some kind of massive snail - the size of a cat - has been battered and pulled apart. The slimey creature seeming to be more recently dead. As Morgan brings the light closer, they notice something move in the shadows. Darting away from the light - but it's too quick to tell what. Just a shadow moving and staying on the outskirts.
Closer inspection of the shell reveals a unique array of beautiful colors. The shell bits catching the light in a near iridescent golds and blues.
The sounds of things following continue to move with the crew as they head away from whatever that snail corpse is. As they begin to head over towards the area...
that low sound reverberates through them. Coming from multiple sides. A loud, dizzying pulse. Striking the crew; their vision going black for just a moment....
((Everyone roll initiative)) ((Everyone make a DC 10 CON save; fail and be paralyzed.)) ((Tarak can be near 2 other characters for his Aura))
Setup: Morgan and Wilson both have torches. The others scattered in the light between them. As they begin to approach the next area, from behind, whatever Morgan likely saw rushes at them. Leaping into the air and moving to strike after letting out that paralyzing sound. Each of them as big as a large wolf; easily a few hundred pounds and nearly five foot to the shoulder. Black scales with a dragon like body with bright dull red eyes that catch the light. Two wings propelling their lithe bodies through the air as the three of them dive into the air on the attack. Smoke billowing around them as the trio move.
Despite their size; their faces that can be seen in the light show that they're likely juveniles.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
