"Yes, Gold. I do have a lance, and it has already been sharpened and blessed. You can take that with you now for 20gp. If you leave the long sword I will work on it this evening, and it will be ready for our adventure early next morning." Dain proposes.
The weather is below freezing now making the steep roads and stairs dangerous. Krusk slips on a top stair and ends up bouncing down two stairs before he tries to grab something to stop, however it only sets him into a head over heels spin and he ends up hitting his head. Kodrith get's off a little easier with a slip that lands him flat on his rear end. However when he tries to stand he falls again, this time catching himself with his hand which leaves two of his fingers swollen.
Back at the Exalted Dragon you are shown to your rooms. "Welcome back," Bellia says with a warm smile. "I have you all in the noble wing. Now where did my notes go... ah here they are." Your voices and footsteps echo off of the tall solid stone walls. Everything is immaculately clean and smells of lavender. Light is dominated by flaming torches every 5 feet. hand woven rugs decorate walls. Soft rugs on the floor feel divine under your feet. "Kodrith and Krusk, I have you here." Bellia motions toward the first door on the right of the wide hallway. "Gold and Hallanann, I have you here." Bellia motions to the door directly across the hall. "Chikra, here is your room." which is at the end of the hall next to what is clearly the door to the Nobel suite. "And here we have, the suite made for a king and queen." Bellia struggles to open the double doors, then one of the servants steps in to help her The door is made of 4 inch thick wood with 1/4" steel bracing. On the inside is a brace that is nearly a foot think. The stone walls themselves are also 1 foot thick. The windows are tall slits, not wide enough for a person to traverse, but would provide a gorgeous view during the day. The first floor is a private study. climbing the stairs reveals a queen size bed, and the floor above that houses a king size bed.
Kodrith smashes his fingers and curses. He curses and mutters all the back to the inn. Things about "damn city," "smells like hot piss," and other such can heard if they listen close. Back at the inn he just nods and takes his room.
"This will do nicely." Lia says with a glance over the room. Once the innkeep leaves, she will move to the wash basin, set up and kept warm for her, and disrobe. She will take a long relaxing bath in the water as she lets the warmth soak the chill from her bones. Nearly falling asleep in the bath, after such a nice meal and the warm water, she gets out as the water starts to cool. She will then use the water to clean any of her gear that needs it, hanging it out to dry for the night. Then she slips into a night tunic and climbs into the king-sized bed on the upper floor.
Gold nods at Hallanann. "Ha, yes we are roomates. This should work fine!" He takes care of his equipment and gets ready to rest for the night. "This situation is very strange. Tomorrow could be a dangerous business. We will need to be awake and aware in my opinion. Sleep well."
Hallanann sees to his equipment and makes sure that everything looks fine. If he needs to, he casts mending on his clothes, his Cloak of Elvenkind and equipment to keep them in tip top shape in preparation for any potential threat for tomorrow (knowing that he would take a point of damage, but expecting to sleep it off through the night). Then, before going to sleep, he sits on his bed and just loses himself in his thoughts. He thinks about each of his new companions and what all of their motivations may be. He thinks about the magical item that was stolen and the growing affect it has on magic and how dire the situation is. He ponders on the potential motivations someone might have for taking the Clasp of Vergren in the first place - what their endgame might be.
I would like to roll an insight check just to see if I can draw any logical conclusions or have any epiphanies in a late night meditation. (ooc: one of Hallanann's central drives is to understand the root cause of things, or to understand the motivations behind why people do what they do.)
In the early morning, before any birds have started making sounds, there is a knock on Gold and Hallanann's door. "Hello?" Bellia calls through the door. "I'm sorry to disturb you. There is a man outside named Dain Lionheart that is insisting on talking to Lia. He says it is quite urgent. He mentioned that there were five others, but had forgotten their names. I assume he must be talking of you. I tried contacting Lia, but she probably cannot hear me through the thick door and walls of the Noble Suite."
Then you hear Dain's voice. "It's time to go, are you ready?"
"Well, he can speak for himself now. I'm going back to bed." Bellia says as she leaves.
"I've figured out a great spot to put the Karak-morr. There is a place near the entrance that has some large stone pillars that we can hide behind. What I need to figure out is how we are going to detonate it without getting hurt."
Hallanann sleepily opens his eyes, "It's okay, Bellia. We were expecting him. Your service is appreciated." Then, turning to Dain, he says while getting dressed, "Alright. Let's get the others, then we can discuss our options on the way. If nothing else, I could cast fire bolt at it. But, considering the use of magic causes pain, I'd rather that be plan B or C."
While he's talking, after he's gotten dressed, Hallanann starts knocking on the others' does to try and wake them up.
Gold wakes in a moment and listens before responding "Ok I'll see if I can wake Lia and the others with Hallanann. How far away do we need to be to be safe again? The fire bolt idea could work if it is powerful enough." Turning back to Hallanann he says "I believe the less powerful (cantrips) spells don't cause pain currently. We may need to test this again." He turns again to Dain "If all else fails we can try to improvise a fuse of some kind. Is there a good place to get supplies that would allow us to make a fuse?"
Gold also gets dressed and starts knocking doors to help rouse the others.
It takes Lia, who was sleeping quite deeply, some time to notice the knocking on her door. A little sleepily she gets up and moves to the door to answer it, still in her night tunic. Her white hair all tussled from sleep.
"Ok..." She says with a sleep-hazed smile for whomever is knocking. "I'll get dressed and be down in a moment." She then closes the door and returns to her gear. She gets ready then and meets the others downstairs.
After a moment of contemplation, Hallanann responds to Gold and says, "Now that you mention it, I think you're right. So, a fire bolt should do the trick, I would think."
"Yes, Gold. I do have a lance, and it has already been sharpened and blessed. You can take that with you now for 20gp. If you leave the long sword I will work on it this evening, and it will be ready for our adventure early next morning." Dain proposes.
Gold hand Dain the 30 gp total and feels like he found a treasure. "I'll see you tomorrow and look forward to helping with this crazy dome."

(Ooc: I'm assuming we've already eaten dinner? Or was she just showing us to our rooms before we go down for dinner?)

"I could also just shoot it with a crossbow bolt." Lia says now that she has joined the others downstairs. "Won't that set it off as well?"
.Krusk shrugs. He’s not much of a magic user or a tactician, he likes to leave that for others
