"We need to bind those sleepers quickly, or toss them in the pit without weapons. Quickly! Radish, what does that staff do? It can hold you up, so it must be strong..." Lem will move forward and assist in tying up the nearest sleeping kobolds and moving their weapons down the ledge so they are separated from them. He's all action but he's intensely curious about the obvously magical rod.
Raddunth is hoping to get back to firmer ground, and take the rod with him.
I think it is reasonable for Raddunth to think the button on the rod activates or deactivates its ability to stick in the air.
The idea is that he is hanging from the staff, like a high bar gymnast. Starts swinging his legs forward and back to build up momentum. As his body is going forward & up, push the button, and hopefully leap back to the ledge/passageway where he started (with the staff).
If that description is confusing, I can try to draw what I had in mind.

Zashier, not seeming to have even registered Lem's words, just stares long and hard at the next closest kobold. With each second that passes, he looses and tightens his grip on the axe, and occasionally curls and unfurls his trunk. Eventually, he just slowly shakes his head, and raise the axe up high to start striking down kobold's permanent if none deem it necessary to intervene.

Yokini, as you look over into the pit, perhaps you git a little dizzy at the 10 foot drop...maybe its a bit much for a gnome...for whatever reason, you are unable to perceive anything down in the pit...Thistle has a little better luck, seeing that there is no further danger down in the pit.
Zashier, with much inner conflict, furls and unfurls his trunk. Finally coming to some unheard conclusion, he raises his axe to strike the sleeping kobold as Lem is moving their weapons. With his axe high in the air, and his head swimming with the mixture of emotions, Thistles yell shakes him from his momentary reverie. She tells him to help Raddunth and let her take care of the kobolds.
Thistle moves up on the other side and starts killing kobolds unless someone stops her. (no attack roll necessary. They are unconscious. advantage and double damage for crit, you can definitely kill all 5 kobolds in 45 seconds.)
Raddunth, I get what you are wanting to do...but thats going to be crazy hard. It was a DC 20 to horizontally jump 15 feet and get to the bar. Now all you have are your arms and your momentum to try and swing forward 15 feet to get back to solid ground. This is going to be a DC 20 acrobatics check. Raddunth Acrobatics: 21
Raddunth, you begin swinging in the air like a gymnast, but trying to time the release of the button and your swing is difficult, and you fall into the pit, taking 4 damage from the fall.
Zashier, assuming you take Thistle's advice, you move over to help Raddunth out of the pit. Athletics: 21 Raddunth extends the staff up and Zashier is easily able to pull him out of the pit.
Everyone is near the exit of this room, assuming Yokini has made her way over there. Thistle is killing kobolds. Raddunth has a staff, but Lem is intrigued by it.
Lem gets quiet as the executions continue, and his hand starts to shake. He helps Raddunth as best he can to get out of the pit with Zashier. As they're pulling him up, with the sound of the kobolds getting killed in their ears, his eyes briefly catch Zashier's, and he gives him a look of deep understanding for a second, two, three, and then goes right back to helping Raddunth up. He shakes himself. "Now Radish, what in the world is that staff you found? You are an excellent jumper. Do you know how it works?"
Zashier still seemed hesitant, and at least looked at the unconscious kobold one last time prior to taking a breathe and adhering to Thistle's command. However, an expectation of welcome relief fails to show up on his face. If anything, he looked as if an even heavier burden had been laid upon him. At least until a shared look with Lem prompted him to put back on some semblance of the old Zashier carefree air. "Hold on then. Let me just bring out trusty rusty here, and will have you up in a jiff, my acrobatic friend." He said, manuvering over closer to their entryway, and then throwing down part of a rope.

Thistle, as you look through the exiting doorway, you see that it is not long, actually leading to another smaller alcove, with doorways branching off of it.
Raddunth, I get what you are wanting to do...but thats going to be crazy hard.
Raddunth gets a bit cocky with the initial leap and catch of the mid-air rod. After doing some fancy gymnastics swings on the high bar, he sets up for a dismount, pushes the button... and does a faceplant-and-slide down the side of the pit.
Slightly humbled (but only slightly), he thanks Zashier for the boost out of the pit.
To answer Lem's question, he holds out the rod at waist level with one hand, openly points at the button with the other hand, pushes the button, then withdraws both hands.

He is ready to move along through the other door, after he’s sure the kobolds have nothing of interest on them.

Thistle will go first down the new, short hall, moving carefully. Could you describe the alcove at the end? How many exits from the alcove? Are they doorways, or do they have doors in them? Are those doors closed?
In case she gets another Perception check for traps and the like (also cool with suffering her previous roll, which was a 7): 9

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.

Thistle, when you are a kobold (or a gnome, or short dwarf) a 2-3 foot rod IS a staff. One mans rod is another gnomes staff.
Grim business done, Thistle will glance at the others to make sure they are okay, then turn her attention to the exit. Perception: 16
Edit: she's a little more disturbed by the slaughter than she will admit, and it affect her concentration down the dark passage.

Lem sends Moon around for a swoop through the pit and then into the alcove/hallway for some backup to Thistle...
If no one moves in front of her, Yokini hurries in right behind Thistle, impatiently trying to see what's ahead.
