I'd say four people can do so. You have to remember these are the size of a house cat, so are quite small in size.
For melee, right, the rest could still attack at range?
With 3/4 cover or maybe even full cover. Consider a small house cat laying on the ground, with four hulking forms standing over it. Is there going to be much of a target for ranged attacks? Plus don't forget ranged attacks have disadvantage to prone targets. This is why I said in the PM just now that it will probably take a bit to get one down. I don't think it a challenge for the entire group, but it would take a while.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
After being shaken out of the effect. Amathile will walk up to the same strige Sorumar does and prepares to attack as well with his moon blade.

4 attacks, if it's prone, then advantage with melee strikes while within 5 feet. (am trying a new code to see if it includes crits at 18, apologize if it causes an error)
1st Attack: 27 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. so that code isn't triggering the crit, lucky it even rolled it. damage would be 22
As the group hacks and slashes at the fallen stirges, taking them out one by one, Durnin and his helpers toss the stunned trolls over the edge of th Well and send them plumetting to the bottom.
"Always good to see you guys haven't lost your edge." Durnin says a bit later, walking over to where you guys have finished cleaning up the stirges. "Been a few things crawling up from the depths before now, but haven't seen anything quite like these... Going to have to talk to the Blackstaff about taking precautions..."
"Interesting is the right word." Vaden agrees, glancing around and idly flipping a gold coin in the air nad catching it. "Nice to see we all can still work at a unit when danger threatens..." He grins as he adjusts the silk tunic and makes sur ehis fur pants are unsoiled. "Does anyone wish to take a rest and regain some of those spells now, or do we head on out to get to the cabin?"
DM's notes...
It is probably afternoon/eveningish in Waterdeep. We need to decide if we are going to use the transport via plants spell to get the group directly to the cabin, or if you will instead do the 2 weeks worth of overland travel. Vaden is good either way, since the coin spoke and said he should not use planeshift at this time. If doing the overland travel we will probably wish to spend the night at the Yawning Portal, then leave in the morning. Otherwise, if we use the spell, we get directly to the cabin area, and can do so instantly. Let me know what everyone else wants to do.
Gilra is fine either way, but can't help but boggle the willingness to waste time by beings of such very short lifespans. Especially when a quick solution has been offered.
Gandolph thinks for a minute. "I say we stay at the Yawning Portal tonight and decide in the morning. If we are going to take the teleport we can afford enough time to sleep, if we are traveling overland we can use the sleep to get ready. Either way I say we sleep."
"Sleeping makes sense." Vaden agrees. "Get back some of the spells I used today, and be ready to go in the morning..." He glances around, noting the customers taking up their normal tables again. "Also could find some game or another to join this evening..." He says with a twinkle in his eyes as he flips his coin and catches it again. He glances at the result this time...
Coin toss... 1 1 = heads, 2 tails...
"Definitely seems that a game or two is a good idea." He says with a nod, pocketing the coin.
"We always have rooms available for VIPs." The woman behind the desk says. She looks through her listings a moment. "Any of you sharing a room, or finding alternate acomindations?" She asks as she glances up at the wizard. "I can get you each your own suite, but don't wish to presume that you will all want to sleep in different rooms..."
"If we're staying, I will return to my place here in the city, if anyone would like, you're welcome to come join me." Sorumar will offer as he heads to the door.

Qatyra will try to recover her arrows, (at the very least the fletchings)
Jown sheathes his sword and dismisses the spectral warhammer. Her says, "Well... that was interesting."

Sorumar will put his spear back into his quiver, "Those were odd creatures, anyone have any idea what happened to their skin?"
(Good to go immediately here.)

Lot's of stuff ...

Gilra says, "I'd like a suite please."
Gandolph lays coin on the counter "I'll take my own room, nothing fancy, just the basics"
Lot's of stuff ...
Jown walks out the door behind Sorumar. He says, "I shall head back to the barracks then. I wish all of you a good night." as he leaves.
After collecting as many of his arrows as he can from the bodies, Six Coins walks up to the bar. "I'll take a room as well."
Gilra sets up a bit of a ritual in one of the corners and will try scrying on the guy who invited them all.
"I would like a suite as well please, thank you." Raist says.
