Imsk WIS Saving Throw: 12
The half-orc listens to you and you see the dawning realization that you are absolutely right in his eyes. The human he called Brother Cole seems about to speak again, but the half-orc halts him with a look.
"You speak sense, half-elf We do not seek open warfare with the Church of the Engineer, as corrupt and perverted as that organization is. I am fully aware that without Graddor in charge, then this entire town would be crushed to dust.. I will tell you and your...companions what I know in exchange for your silence to the authorities. I will not betray anyone of our Church, but if there is any other information you wish, I will share what I can. Please just let Brother Cole go." He looks at Cole significantly. "Tell the others what happened and that I'm okay. Make arrangements for Brother Himo and Sister Sibyl."
Nevlav looked at Alden almost incredulously, was this man really willing to allow terrorists to go free? He decided to keep quiet though, the detective seemed to be on the right path. If they really did get more information of the area and the hermit than they will have completed their task and gotten one step closer to saving the king.
"You are lucky you saw reason. Now, tell us about the lands outside of town, specifically where the hermit comes from."
"My companion is right", nodding towards Nevlav, "We do need information about the town and locals." he says
Alden approaches Cole. "Mind you manners" he says and he releases the human.
To the Half Orc and Human Alden will say: "I acknowledge my part in your companions deaths and for that I am truly sorry." he says. A sadness can be heard in his voice.
"My companions will have questions they will desire to be answered" he says "So mine will be brief." Alden says as he goes to the half orc and unshackles him.
Alden gets close to the half orc and whispers "Graddor, in his drunken state, may return with what troops he can muster to try and cart you away, so lets be quick."
Upon releasing the half orc Alden will ask: "How do we find this hermit?"
The human Acolyte doesn't meet your eyes as his bounds are undone. He rubs his wrists quickly working to restore circulation to his arms, and then he rushes out of the Canary's front entrance, not even looking at the half-orc as he leaves.
Brother Imsk for his part, remains seated on the floor, manacled arms in front of him. He's not pleasant, per say -- his voice is weary and resigned, and his manner is a little cold, but he answers your questions.
"I don't know much about Dr. Aleksei. As I said, he comes down from the Corropolese Mountains once or twice a month, and takes care of any medical issues the miners are facing, and trades for some supplies. I don't have any idea how to find him -- the only one who used to visit him is old Count Raskiel, before he died. Maybe Graddor has been up there. I'm honestly not sure.
The half-orc pauses for a second, clearly deciding whether or not to say more, but after a beat, he adds "The Corropolese Mountains are very dangerous, especially at night though. Any number of miners and surveyors have been lost or worse going up into the mountains looking for another ore deposit. Unless you are suicidal, then I would wait until morning."
The half-orc nods. "Count Raskiel built a manor house for his bride when he married five years ago. Its on the eastern edge of town, near the military garrison. Since the Count's death two years since, the Lady comes and goes pretty freely between here and the capital. Your guess is as good as mine if she's there now."
The Acolyte now looks at each of you in turn. "Is there anything else you want to know? Am I free to go now? That was our deal." There is a hint of suspicion in his eyes, especially as he regards Nevlav.

Thalion shrugs, lowering his bow.
"No matter, we're trying to find the root of the matter not personally detain every one of these cultists," he says before turning toward the door. He steps out and starts to look for Graddoc's tracks while the others question the half-orc acolyte.
The half-orc known as Brother Imsk stands up and moves over to the body of Sister Sibyl. He bends over her and mutters a quiet prayer. "I hope I never see any of your faces again. Good luck in whatever it is you are attempting." He keeps his back to you as you all leave through the back entrance that Captain Graddor ran through.
Thalion -- because Yellow Creek is small and doesn't possess as many technological advances as you saw in Valance, its easy enough to track Graddor without distraction or losing his trail. It is the middle of the night, and his bootprints stand out as among the freshest made, and though they are frustratingly swaying about in a circuitous manner, they lead you eventually towards the east end of town and the small, squat military garrison there;
The garrison itself is a smallish building, and has clearly seen better days. Even in the darkness you can see the cannon on the roof has suffered from years of neglect and the airship docked on the roof looks (to you Nevlav, at least) to date from the war. There is a small electric light burning in one of the front windows, indicating that someone in the garrison is awake.
Further down the path, you also notice a large manor house sitting off by itself behind a large wrought iron gate. It seems completely out of place with the rest of the town. A guard mills about outside the gate, though the house itself is dark.
Alden says nothing to the half orc. He will set out looking for Thalion and Graddor. His thoughts a bit dark after this whole encounter but he maintains his silence.
Thalion looks between the garrison and the manor house, humming quietly to himself as he thinks.
"Looks like the Raskiel manor the half-orc was telling us about. Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone?" he says while peering through the gloom at the guard patrolling in front of the manor.
Yoric tilts his head like a curious dog. “Where exactly are you from, Thalion?” Then blinks at Grin. “Or you for that matter? You’re clearly not from the capital.”
Thalion chuckles at Grin's retort, looking at the halfling woman with newfound interest.
"Yes, I'd like to know where you're from as well, Grin, and where you learned such excellent elvish," he says with a smile. "I'm from a humble elven village in the forests outside of the capital. But there are more important matters at hand than that."
He waves off the question amicably enough, but he goes back to his usual quiet self thereafter.

Yoric nods at Alden in understanding.

Grin sits in full view of the prisoners, spinning her sling idly.

Alden
For his part Alden will say; "Thank you."
After a moment of letting others speak or do what they will, Alden will ask 1 last questions:
"Did Count Raskiel have a residence close by or a place he would visit while in the area?"

"I have no questions and I am still not comfortable with releasing terrorists but we have more important food on our plate," Nevlav says grumpily.
Thalion shrugs, lowering his bow.

Survival: 23
“Go in peace, Imsk. In peace.” Yoric says the last with a soft voice that emphasizes its intent.
”Time to follow Thalion. Or maybe just follow the smell of booze til we meet the Captain.”

"I t'ought we wan' Graddor Ahlive... But if him need dyin' I got plenty stoanes." Grin shakes her bag of sling rocks.
Thalion's determined face falls slightly as he sighs, not for the first time, at Grin.
"It's just a saying, we're not going to kill anyone. I hope," he says in an exasperated tone.
"It makes more sense in elvish," he mutters to himself, in elvish.
"I'm sure it does mon ami" Grin says with a wink to Thalion.
