The Goliath steps in front of you, and holds out a hand, his voice still very polite, but now with a firmer edge, though you notice he still tries to keep as much distance between himself and Thalion as possible. "Now, now, good sir gnome, your mother was quite clear that you be delivered to her estate. She is quite anxious to avoid the appearance that her son was confined to Valance Gaol. She was...very insistent, and my superiors agreed. Come along now, friend. You will be a lot more comfortable there than in this filthy prison." Ignoring the others, he whispers "I can't promise your safety here."
As the two other guards pick up Chief Brightaxe, who is still struggling and protesting his innocence, the third guard, who had been searching the ship reappears. "No luck, Inspector. No sign of Artur Felix." He says, and you can all tell that Inspector Stairclimber is trying very hard to control his mounting fury.
"Very well," he seethes. "Let me see our brave knight off to the carriage, and then, I shall have to report back to the Committee. They'll want to speak to you -- all of you."

Stairclimber witnesses the scene and completely buys it. He grins, and its clear that the Goliath tihnks he just had a brilliant idea. "I see that this woman means...something to you, Sir Nevlav. If we allow her to accompany you, would you consider going to your Mother's estate? Anything I can do to make the quarantine more...palatable for one of your lofty station, I am more than happy to do." At this point, the Goliath actually does go down to one knee, bowing his head before Nevlav. "Who I am to interfere with an affair of the heart?" He adds.
Nevlav is at first stunned and completely red at the attentions of Grin. Her message eases him a bit and he attempts to retain his composure but huffs and scowls deeply at Stairclimbers actions. He raises his voice and throws up his arms at the Goliath, "I am not my mother! I am just a regular gnome living the Gnome life." He continues on mumbling under his breath as he truns to Grin as if to ask her thoughts.

Having already manacled Chief Brightaxe, they come to the three of you next. "Please inspector. It will make things much easier. " Murdoc, the half-elf watchman says to you. "We're just following orders, sir." He offers the manacles up to Alden.
Alden straightens up a bit. "You'll have to put them on me Murdoc. I decline to go to my death willingly." he says calmly. "Mark my words Murdoc, there will be another assassination attempt soon."
Alden thinks about making a dash for the side but, the rest of the party is little more than a collection of individuals and he would be leaving them to face what is coming on their own so, he stays.
Alden will however attempt to use a skill he rarely uses to conceal his set of lock picks someplace they will miss them, on his person. Doing so he will bend over coughing.
Alden -- you are positive you were able to pretty securely hide the lock picks. The guards hoist you up, and Murdoc sighs, slipping the manacles around your wrists. "My apologies, Inspector," he says sympathetically.
The other two guards seem to be unwilling to approach Thalion, even with their plague masks on. "Gods, I don't care who does it. One of you just cuff the elf!" He turns back to Nevlav his fake-sincere smile starting to slip a little in irritation. "If there is anything else I can do, sir, to convince you to honor your dear Mother's wishes." He says through obviously gritted teeth. "I know that dear woman is very concerned for your health and safety during these...unprecedented times."
After a brief discussion the squat female dwarf comes closer to you Thalion, while an older looking human comes over to Yoric.
"Alright, elf. Put these on. I have no desire to catch whatever nasty germs you have crawling all over ya."
The human locks the manacles around Yoric's wrists and leans in close to the halfling.

Thalion, because no one except Yoric is standing anywhere near you, you are able to give the manacles a little give...just in case.
You can see the Goliath holding back his anger, as he gestures towards the door. "Of course...good sir gnome. After you, and your uh...charming companion. We will make sure your friends are well taken care of. It is quite unfortunate You may not see each other again.Your mother was um... very certain of that."

Alden
"I am as well Stairclimber." Alden says with a bruised face and swollen lip smile.
Alden looks around at the party and other watchman "Man's got balls of stone, did you know that?" Alden asks, his voice raising a little at the end of his question. "Hurt my hand it did." he looks at his hand and shakes it a bit.
Alden turns to Murdoc "Lead on good sir!" he says with some gusto "I do not want to make miss pudding night." he says then pauses "It is pudding night here at this illustrious establishment?" he asks Murdoc.
"Never the less" Alden continues. "Let us be off. Our cells await. I for one would like a bit of a rest before ole Stairstumbler comes back. You know" he continues "need my strength for the torture session he and his master have in store." Alden says to Murdoc directly.
Alden says nothing else and waits to be led off to what ever awaits.

Yoric considers head butting the guard who whispered right in the balls, but manages to reel it in. He goes along. “I’m sorry you got caught up in this, Chief Brightaxe...”
Murdoc very obviously rolls his eyes at Alden's dramatic speech. "Never thought you'd be the dramatic one, Inspector. I'd expect it from the big fella, but not you. Don't quit yer day job, mate. You ain't much of an actor. And you know damn well that pudding night was last night." He grins at you. "I don't mind saying though I kinda liked watching you take a pop at ol' Stairclimber. Didn't think you had it in, sir." He's about to say more, but is interrupted as his two colleagues lead the others over.
The wizened old man who secured Yoric leads you to the stairs, following closely by Brightaxe, whose normally cheery demeanor is replaced by a sort-of-sulleness, then Yoric and Alden followed by Murdoc,, then Thalion and a fair distance behind him, the petulant dwarf woman.

Meanwhile, Stairclimber himself takes it upon himself to guide Nevlav and Grin to the waiting carriage outside. The three of you pile into the elevator on the other side of the door, the Goliath's bulk squeezing the three of you into very close quarters.
"I do apologize for the unpleasantness back there sire. Inspector Lostchild is dreadfully impetuous. The stories I could tell you about him would make your toes, curl, sir Nevlav." He catches Grin's eyes and immediately looks down, exactly unsure of the social position of this strange-looking halfling.. "Begging your pardon, miss. As you reach the ground level of the prison and step outside into the Parapets District, you see the dense houses, built all over the district, right up to the prison itself. The streets, however, are empty -- a sign of the quarantine being enforced here and the other poorer areas of the city.

Alden pauses a moment , thinking as Murdoc talks. "I think its all part of their plan. They will keep me and these folks alive as long as they need information about whatever it is they seek. Once that cat is out of the bag I am sure I will suffer some horrible death at the hands of one of the inmates. And that Murdoc" he says "will come right after a series of tortures." Alden says grimly.
