Large boulders roll down the sides of the outcroppings onto the path. Everyone who's Dex save was under 11, take 1 bludgeoning damage. Everyone else take half (rounded down). You can now clearly see the rearguard about 15 feet above you on a ledge. There are 9 humans up there in various cult robes, and one of them (V) is wearing heavy armor. Of the others, 6 (C) are wearing robes similar to the ones Rex and Arliden were wearing, but with leather armor. The remaining 2 (A) are just in robes.

Fjordix takes a small boulder to the knee and grimaces. He looks up to the people on the outcropping and is about to yell something when he hears Rex yell up at them. He stops himself and instead steels himself for battle.
Arliden shouts up, "For the love of Io stop with the boulders, we're on your side. I expected this if we ran into Kobolds but not fellow members. If you'd stop hurling rocks at us we be happy to tell you why we're so late in returning to camp."
