I will be running Hoard of the Dragon Queen (and eventually Rise of Tiamat) at launch using only DDB tools and am looking for 4-6 players. I will only have the three core books. If anyone would like to use character options from other sources, however, I am open to that, but please run the idea by me first. Also, someone else in the campaign will need to provide that content.
For character creation, stats will be rolled in the forum (4d6, drop the lowest). Stats do not need to be rolled in order, but a set of six will only be accepted if there are at least 2 rolls of 15 or higher (a la Matthew Colville). Characters can have either starting equipment or starting gold.
Please submit the following character information for consideration:
Name
Race
Class
Alignment
Background
Why your character is on the way to Greenest
If you have any questions regarding any aspect of character creation, I will be more than happy to assist you.
The 4-6 characters chosen will receive a PM with the link to join the campaign. We will roll for stats and build characters then.
Class: Fighter (Eventually Eldritch Knight and Multiclassed to Wizard)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Background: Sailor
Why your character is on the way to Greenest: Fjordix's people, the People of Ruathym, spend a good deal of their lives on boats. It's all Fjordix has ever known, but after a dragon attacked the ship he was sailing on and killed nearly everyone aboard Fjordix decided to to come to the mainland in search of the Dragon and avenge his people.
Why your character is on the way to Greenest: Being the eldest child of an affluent merchant family, Valharri has the duty of traveling from place to place and checking the management of their businesses and land, Greenest houses one of those. On this endeavor, however, she has been tasked with the job of keeping up relations with local merchants, as well as pay visit to the temple of Pelor(?).
Why your character is on the way to Greenest: Does a leaf choose where to land when it leaves the tree? Monk-E left the temple years ago believing that studying and meditating constitute only half of one's feeling of wholeness. Putting to practice what one has learned is the only way to truly master one's life. Greenest just so happened to be on the path from the temple he left to life's experiences.
Name: Rex'aliha Race: Black Dragonborn Class: Great Old One Warlock Alignment: Lawful Neutral Background: Criminal Why your character is on the way to Greenest: Rex used to work with the cult of the dragon queen. Their mission statement had attracted him, after all who doesn't want more stuff? However, lately he's come into a deal with something much bigger than Tiamat, so he came to Greenest to distance himself from the cult.

Why your character is on the way to Greenest: Nydella is seeking adventure and new companions is traveling to Greenest and overhears towns people talking about your quest/task/shenanigans and wants in!
Awesome, so to confirm, I will get a PM when the game thread is up and we will create our characters there?
Correct. The past few days have been much busier than I anticipated, but I am hoping to get the PM to all of you by tomorrow. Once you have all joined, I'll either set up a new forum for in character discussions, or we'll continue on here. Depends on how everything gets set up.
For the past several days, you have been traveling a road that winds lazily across the rolling grasslands of the Greenfields. Sundown is approaching when you top a rise and see the town of Greenest just a few short miles away. But instead of the pleasant, welcoming town you expected, you see columns of black smoke rising from burning buildings, running figures that are little more than dots at this distance, and a dark, winged shape wheeling low over the keep that rises above the center of the town. Greenest is being attacked by a dragon!
While you each have your own reason for approaching Greenest, you arrive on at the top of the rise almost at the same time. How would you like to proceed?
Fjordix stops cold, his eyes peer into the distance and watch the dragon swooping down at the town. His hand raised to his chest where just beneath the metal of his chainmail lay a scar, inflicted upon him by the claw of a dragon who had left him for dead. His mind traveled back to the ship, he could smell the wood burning and hear his people's howls of horror. His hand then continued it's journey upon over his head reaching his weapon, he pulled it from it's resting place upon his back and gripped it tightly. He began to walk steadily forward, passing by a few of his companions, his stare was direct and carried only hatred for the beast.
Monk-E froze. Almost laughing to himself while he recounts the reason for leaving the temple, did not, for one minute, think the life experiences he was searching for would begin in such earnest fashion. Though caught off guard, he moved forward with complete resolve that he will be committing himself to help those in need. He continues forward, now cautiously, not out of concern for himself, but realizing the magnitude of the task ahead. He knows he will need help. Monk-E approaches a human on the hill and can see by the hatred on this fighter's face finding help will not be difficult.
Rex looks up at the smoke clouds and stands in the cart that he was riding in, "No. Nope. I'm not dealing with this today, Nydella, turn this cart around!" Rex crawls up into driver's seat and extends a hand, "Give me the reigns. We aren't fighting a dragon today. I did not leave the nice, cushy cult to fight a dragon!" Rex can only handle so much terrak in one day. This, this was a whole cartload of terrak. Not a small bucket, or a load of terrak, but a horse-drawn, waste disposing, cartload of terrak!

Horror struck in Valharris' eyes upon laying witnessing the demolition the dragon caused. The fire and plumes of smoke mirrored the terrors she'd had at night. "Stop the wagon! Now! I have to get off!" She commanded frantically almost jumping from the vehicle. Snatching up her morning star and shield she raced down the hill and to Greenest to provide whatever help she could to the fleeing people and the injured.
Nydella turns to Rex "you knew we'd have to face this sooner or later" then calls to Valharris "wait we're coming with you" refusing to give up the reins but instead urges the cart horse forward carefully avoiding the others on the road.

That makes 6! I'll send you all a link to join the campaign soon, and we'll proceed from there.
Awesome, so to confirm, I will get a PM when the game thread is up and we will create our characters there?
Sounds like you have 6, so is this group about to be closed or do you have any more room?
Dang it! Ok, well maybe if one of the existing players drops the ball let me know? I would be very interested in playing.
Thanks, and happy adventures.
I'll certainly keep you in mind.

Monk-E searches his mind for any past readings he might have come across about Greenest, and any possible ties to dragons. 7 (History)
