As you make your way down the stairs, the lowest steps collapse into a ramp, dumping Rex, Fjordix and Arliden at the base of a few of the fungi. [Go ahead and make a Dexterity save to avoid being knocked prone by the fall.] From your new vantage point, you can see a greater variety among the fungi. Up ahead, you can see the cultist you threw earlier, but a root seems to have somehow grown over him, and he seems to be decomposing oddly fast considering he just died. The root is connected to a fungus with a more purplish color than the rest. There are 3 other large roots connected to this fungus. At first, you think the darkness is playing tricks on your eyes, but you soon realize that the roots are moving toward you.

Meanwhile, Rex combat rolls into position after falling down the stairs and he’s going to fire an Eldritch Blast right at the purple fungus, Attack: 19 Damage: 8 force damage. He mentally says, “Alright, even I’m surprised that that went as well as it did.”

A significant portion of the fungus breaks apart into small pieces and fly away from it. The roots are still moving toward you, and you can now see, through the new hole in the fungus, that there is another one right behind it with roots moving as well. Now that you know what to look for, you can see that 2 more line the right path further down, unable to reach you from there position.

Hatchling is up.

Hatchling will fly around the area, distracting the fungus and helping Fjordix.

Fjordix, you're up. Your first attack this turn has advantage.

Fjordix grumbles about having fallen down while using the haft of his weapon to lift himself to a standing position. He then sets his weapon and lashes out against the nearest target that is distracted by Hatchling!

Fjordix's glaive slices through the first fungus, and the roots fall limply to the ground. His second attack clips the other fungus, cutting a small portion off.
