Another day on the High Road goes without a hitch. It's going so well that you don't even realize how dark it is getting, until the sun is down and you start to think about where to make camp.
Keeping a lookout for a good spot, you hear grunts, moans and thudding sounds coming from the woods just to the east of the road, somewhat close by. Trees are blocking whatever is making the sounds from your view.
Nyx slips in front of Lyngheid and weaves herself through the trees for a couple dozen feet until she can make out the source of the noise. Just when she gets close enough to barely make out two giant shapes, she gets a better look as they swivel in her direction and start charging towards her, one giant shambling on the ground, and one floating above it.
Nyx is about 40 feet from the rest of the group, separated by trees. The creatures are 80 feet from Nyx in the opposite direction and closing fast. You still haven't been able to tell what they are besides giants of some sort, but they appear to have hostile intent.
Lyngheid watched nervously as Nyx ventured in alone, " Careful....please..."
As there were sudden sounds of pursuit she yelled, " Get back here ya daft woman."
Lyngheids eyes glowed softly, as did Lightbringer, and a group of angry looking dwarven women armed with all sorts of domestic items rose from the earth and stood ready to face the giants.
When Nyx gets back to the group the creatures have closed to within 40 feet. It's dark enough that those without dark vision can't make out what they are, but those with can see that one of the creatures is a Frost Giant, and the floating one is a Cloud Giant, but they look off somehow.
Everyone roll initiative, and take your turn if higher than 8. Lyngheid's spirit guardians went off early enough that they don't count as her first round turn.
(weird, my original roll was a 3 for initiative, dunno why it says potentially manipulated rolls - fine with acting last, of course!)
Perception: 21
It's staying at 18 now, let's go with that.
Taking a second to get a good look at the approaching giants, and with your spell detecting an aura of necromantic magic around them, you can tell that these are some sort of undead giants.

Lyngheid walked to the edge of the road and listened in, grunts, moans and thuds could have many different reasons....some good....some very bad...
Perception- 18
Listening closely, you are able to tell that these grunts and moans are probably not from any of the good reasons you can think of.
In fact, you can make out that they are coming from at least two different sources, and they sound large.
Nyx will sneak off to see if she can get a better look, trying to stay downwind as she approaches.

Action- Spirit Guardians.
"Yep like I said, spring the trap!"
Nyx runs as fast as possible back towards the group.

Droop heed's Umbriel's wise words and let's an arrow fly at each: Frost: 25, damage: 10, Cloud: 17, damage: 6
Lyngheid Initiative- 5
Umbriel's initiative: 18
On his turn, Umbriel tries to take a closer look at what seems off about the two giants. He'll cast Detect Magic to see if anything jumps out at him.
Make a Perception check as part of your Detect Magic spell.

"Undead!" Umbriel shouts.
Baeshra initiative: 10
Hearing Umbriel's shout about them being undead, Baeshra focuses on the flying undead giant as soon as its in range (120ft) and cast Dispel Magic.
