While waiting for Baeshra and Whistler to return from the crevasse, Umbriel muses out loud, partly to himself, then opening it up into a question for the group.
"It seems like we've cleaned out the hideout pretty thoroughly, though the only sign of Iarno was in that letter from Glasstaff's desk. Let me think... we've recovered the documents from his desk, we've saved some townsfolk, we've learned a little more about this mysterious Spider person, and we have a potential guide to where Gundren's being held. Unless I missed something, I think we're done here - should we go back to town, rest, and then have Droop lead us to the rest of his clan and potentially Lyngheid's cousin? Or is there something else we should take care of first? Maybe turn over some rocks at the Sleeping Giant and see what comes crawling out?
"I think we should at least go back to town first and rest," Ireniana says. "We can talk to Droop there as well and find Lyngheid's cousin, though I don't know how people would feel with a goblin among us. I don't mind breaking a few faces if they give him trouble."

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Lyngheid leaned into Umbriel speaking quietly, " We should take the children and mother out by the front door.....they don't need to see whats in the crevasse."
" I would like to find my cousin....but thats probably part of this Wave Echo Cave business anyway....theres a banshee, but she's been dead a long time. She can wait."
Umbriel nods, understanding Lyngheid completely. "Very well then, as soon as Baeshra and Whistler get back, if there are no objections, we'll leave via the front door, bringing Droop and our Redbrand prisoner with us. I know I could definitely use a night to recover."
Baeshra, the weapons you passed out from the armory were 4 spears, 4 longswords, 2 light crossbows, 2 heavy crossbows and 8 cases of bolts.
The treasure chest from the Nothic is not locked. It contains 160 Silver, 180 Gold, adn 6 malachite gems worth 15 GP each. It also has two potions of healing and a Spell Scroll of Augury.
Lying in the chest diagonally is a longsword with a silver-chased scabbard. The sword is inscribed with the name "Talon" and its hilt is worked in the shape of a bird of prey with outspread wings.
Characters making a DC15 History check can read the spoiler about the sword below.
It once belonged to a great knight named Aldith Tresendar, known as the Black Hawk. Sir Aldith died fighting off the orcs that attacked through the hidden caverns below his manor. Talon was lost here until the nothic found it.
Whistler, when you and Baeshra arrive back at the crypt with everyone else, the Greatsword that the skeleton was wielding reflects the torchlight and catches your eye.
Mirna speaks up when the party finishes their discussion. "Yes, please help us out of this hideous place, we will go back to our house and look for Thel. And remember about the necklace in Thundertree. Please take it as a token of my deep gratitude for rescuing us."
Droop adds: "Take Droop with you, yes! Droop will rest too, yes! Then Droop very helpful!"

Whistler being somewhat related to the common magpie, notices the shiny new Greatsword and picks it up. He runs his hand over the blade to feel the sharpness and checks the counterweight of it. Peering deep into the metallic reflection to reveal its secrets.

When you examine the greatsword you can tell it is made with superior craftsmanship, it feels very well balanced, more so than your current greatsword. You can't tell exactly what it is about the sword, but you are sure it is something more than a common greatsword.

Umbriel takes the coin and the gems, and parcels them out - each member of the party will get one malachite gem, 30 gp, and 26 sp. Fearing that what Lyngheid said about the body in the crevasse may be true, Umbriel will quietly give his portion (plus the remainder from dividing 160 among six) to Mirna. "To get you and your family back on your feet."

Umbriel will also hang on to one of those healing potions.
"I've never heard of a sword by that name, but it may be worth seeing if someone in town can identify these items for us. I know I need to take more time with this staff."
Mirna at first refuses the coin, then quietly takes it. "Thank you very much, you don't have to do this. Please, you must go to Thundertree, find my necklace and take it as payment."
Alright, unless someone has something else they want to do, let's say that you escort Mirna and her children out the front door and back to town, picking up the hog-tied Redbrand along the way. Mirna thanks you again and then goes to her house.
What do you do with the Redbrand?
Are you taking the swords anywhere to be identified, or going to sit with them to identify them?
Going anywhere else, or back to the Inn for a long rest?
Whistler will try to find someone who can assist him in identifying his new shiny Greatsword and also sell his old sword. Whistler hands over the eyepatch to Umbriel.
"CAW! Found!" He mimics, cursing to himself that he cannot vocalise more words.

Baeshra will help carry stuff out, "Perhaps we should take the prisoner, Droop and the letters straight to Sildar. At the very least, he might have access to a cell of some kind to store them in. He might also know where we can get things identified."
Umbriel nods. "I agree. The letters and the Redbrand we should take straight to Sildar. Our business is not yet finished with Droop; the goblin will stay with me, and I shall be responsible for him. He shall be destroyed utterly if he seeks to wrong us. If he deals with us fairly, he will be compensated and released."
Umbriel looks down at Whistler, and takes the eyepatch. "Thank you, Whistler. This could definitely come in handy if we need to convince this Spider that we have eliminated his minions."
Grimacing from the pain, Umbriel says "As soon as the business with Sildar is finished, I'd like to go back to the inn. I'm... tired."
Lyngheid just slumped against the doorframe, " Thats because he is a Redbrand....the rest are dead....because....I dunno...suicide pact? Threat eliminated....I think."

"Threat eliminated, fantastic! How about the leader, Glasstaff?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Umbriel straightens himself up, and hobbles forward. "Glasstaff is no more. We discovered evidence that the Redbrands were working with someone called the Black Spider - an individual we have unfinished business with. In the meantime, it would appear that this group has been kidnapping people for some time and selling them into slavery. It's possible that Iarno was one of these unfortunates. If we pull on that thread, we may follow this crooked web all the way back to the Spider's lair."
Umbriel watches Sildar closely, waiting for a reaction to the news about Iarno. Insight check: 4
Sildar purses his lips in thought. "Very interesting indeed. The Black Spider you say? Hmm."
He turns to Harbin Wester, the townmaster. "Harbin! Put this ruffian in the jail cell until we have time to deal with him. It appears the Redbrand threat is no more."
Harbin gulps and breathes an audible sigh of relief. "Yes! That is good! How about those Orcs near Wyvern Tor?" He asks Umbriel.
Sildar turns back to Umbriel: "You all have done very well, please, go retrieve Glasstaff's body and bring it to me, and then we can consider this matter closed and I'll pay you your reward."
Umbriel, Sildar looks disappointed at the news of Iarno, but you aren't able to discern much more than that.
Umbriel unveils Glasstaff's glass staff and shows it to Sildar. "Is this sufficient proof? The wizard and his female companion fought to the death, and we recovered this from the body."
