Alchemical supplies, Gerter replies. Dried flowers, salts taken from the sea bed, crushed shells of various types. Most of our trade is in the city itself, but Greta a cousin in Feolinn who we supply too. She'll be late getting them this year, but... well, nothing to be done about that.
And the horse, too. He sighs and shakes his head. This will be a difficult road now.
I have the means, if I’m estimating the volume and mass of your cargo correctly, to transport it easily. It would require an evening’s rest, however. You would have to leave the cart behind, as well.
Silent will attempt to push the cart off the road and clear away the horse corpse, keeping a sidelong eye on the young guard as he works. He'll then help Magnum set up camp.
You are able to move the cart off the road. The gnomes are busy talking and Gerter is caring for his wife while keeping an eye on the guard. After some time, Crane stands, picks up his friend and brings him over to where you are preparing the camp. He lays him down gently and sits, staring off into the distance.
There are travellers passing from time to time in both directions, walking and on carts; you could flag some down and seek help, but the survivors of the cart make no attempt to do so, seemingly lost in their own problems.
There's still a fair amount of time before sunset; how will you pass the afternoon?
You can both easily take a short rest, but you can also talk to each other, or to the guard or merchants, while resting. A rest will only take an hour, though you can rest for the whole remainder of the day if you like.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Silent will also take a short rest, sitting down close to Crane and cleaning the hyena blood off his blade. After not saying anything for a while he'll say, What made you pick up a sword?
Crane shakes his head. Dunno. Just, to stay safe. Keep people safe. It's dangerous out there, everyone says so. He looks sadly at his friend, and doesn't say any more.
We'll be travelling together for the time being. If you're willing, I can show you some of the tricks I've learned with a blade - help you out next time you're in a bad scrap, maybe. But I won't blame you if you want to get out of this line of work.
He takes a long look at the body. That part of the job never gets easier.
Silent, Crane just stares at his friend, looks at you, and then looks away into the distance. He doesn't respond.
Greta, from her position lying in the cart, calls you over to speak to her. I won't say I've known them all that long, but that one doesn't say much. His friend was the talker. Crane's the thinker. Slow thinker, sometimes, but smart at the end. Just give him time.
Gerter looks around. I don't suppose we're making a move today. He looks at Magnum as he starts setting up his spell. That's... I've seen that before. Some kind of warning system. We're camping here?
Gerter will produce food from the cart for the afternoon/evening meal. The bodies of the hyenas are attracting some attention from the travellers passing by, but so far no-one has stopped to speak to you all.
I recommend it, as I’ll need time to complete the bag of holding. The alarm system I’m setting up should provide additional warning if anything else attacks. Plus, we can use the cart as temporary cover, if need be. Silent and I will do what we can to keep you all safe.
Should we do something about the animal carcasses? Would that attract predators?
We could burn them, Greta suggests. Fire would normally deter more than it attracts. I... she struggles to get up and her husband puts a restraining hand on her shoulder and shakes his head. She sighs, I would help if I could. Do you mind giving us a hand with it?

(OOC: How much is in the cart in terms of volume?)
(OOC: Six medium-sized crates, each weighing about 50 lb.) It doesn't fill the whole cart.

Can you carry the... can you carry young Crane as well? Greta asks.
In theory. The bag of holding I can make shouldn’t harm his body, but I’ve never put a body in one before.
It's fine. Silent puts a hand on Magnum's shoulder-plate. I'll carry him - if the lad allows me to, that is.
Magnum suggests making camp and possibly getting the cart off the road.
Silent will attempt to push the cart off the road and clear away the horse corpse, keeping a sidelong eye on the young guard as he works. He'll then help Magnum set up camp.
Magnum will assist in pushing the cart.

Magnum would like to take a short rest to reset himself to Guardian mode.

Magnum will set up some areas with Alarm as a ritual while setting up camp.
