(OOC - Oh man didn't even realize I was flanking there, heck yeah!)
When he sees his opening, Silent will lift his greatsword above his head with his arms shaking from exertion, and he'll bring the point down on the base of the creature's neck, throwing his full weight into the blow and stumbling slightly.
The greatsword slices deep into the last sahuagin, almost splitting it in two. The broken corpse falls to the ground.
Combat is over, and you are out of initiative.
Pockets, you reach the young girl in time; as Joao looks frantically on, you manage to stop the bleeding and make her stable.
Arael, you have time to search one of the sahuagin, but only find a few shells in its clothing; nothing that looks valuable.
Keyou, you have time to ask your question, but if anyone answers, you don't hear it. The ground shakes, the rumbling is louder this time. And this time, it doesn't end. After a few seconds of the ground shaking, you see the sea coming closer; there's no doubt, this entire land mass is sinking beneath the ocean, and sinking fast.
We have to get out of here, Joao shouts, lifting Elanza over his shoulder.
But where? Aurelio asks, as he struggle to stay on his feet.
The sailor just looks on in shock and confusion, clearly somewhat drunk.
Pockets, satisfied with the girl's stability, stands and addresses Silent. Can you carry her? I'm not strong enough. I think we need to head back to the ships and get off the island. These ground quakes don't seem good.
Silent nods at Arael and to Pockets' point gestures at Joao. Looks like the lad's got her.
He yells at the top of his lungs at the kids, There's a ship in the harbour captained by some cat-lady, get to it pronto! Noticing the drunken sailor he addsYou too old-timer, get moving!
Turning back to his comrades he will addWhat do you reckon, should we give up on finding the navigator?
As you are running towards the ship and Silent mentions 'navigator', the somewhat drunk sailor shouts: Present! Kijori, ship's navigator. He looks at you. Didn't I mention?
The captain said he might be in the village, which last I saw was crumbling...
Silent sticks the point of his greatsword in the sand and momentarily leans on it, trying to catch his breath.3 lives saved is better than none. Feel bad for the poor bloke but I think he might be a goner even if we run back in.
He will start following Arael and will motion again to the drunken sailor if he's not moving.
(OOC - Didn't see Steve's last post haha - Silent will just follow Arael and yell at Kijori to follow)
You run, and the ground continues to shake. The ocean water is coming towards you as the village and surrounding land sinks. To the north, you see numerous villagers have managed to reach safety on a party of land that appears higher and safer - but many have also been lost; you see bodies in the water, and the last few sahuagin dragging fresh meat back to their underwater homes. It's a horrible sight, but you have saved lives here, and Joao and Aurelio, though shaken, stick close to you as you head back towards the ship.
The caravel is still at the dock, the captain looking impatiently upon you as you approach. She shakes her head at the sight of the navigator. Drunk again. That'll be ten lashes, Kijori. The navigator burps loudly and nods as he runs up the gangplank onto deck. Get onboard, the captain says. We waited as long as we could, and we won't wait another second. This place is done for.
As you run up, you notice the name of the ship, the Wavechaser, carved on the prow. The tabaxi captain gives the order, and sailors move the plank moments after you reach the deck. Moments after that, the sails are unfurled and the ship begins to move away from the shore, as the shore is also moving away and down.
It's nail-biting, for a while; there's a fair wind, but the water current seems to be dragging the ship towards the sinking land mass. The captain and her sailors are skilled, though. Less than a minute later, you've made it out and away from where the village of Palma Flora can be seen, now half-submerged.
There are a total of eight refugees from Palma Flora, sitting on the deck in a huddle. Three you know; Elanza remains unconscious, tended by her friend Joao. Aurelio stands at the side of the ship, staring in shock and disbelief at his ruined home. Five more you have not seen before, though it's clear they found safety on the ship while you were searching for the navigator.
The crew go about their duties, avoiding the refugees and you. The four of you stand together, beaten, bloody, some having come very close to death. As the ship sails further out to sea and away from the village and the sahuagin, you have your first moment to take a breath and talk to each other.
Silent collapses onto the deck and immediately sets to cleaning the sahuagin guts off of his blade. Been a long time since I've been in a scrap that bloody, he grunts, shaking his head.
But I gotta say, can't believe I managed to fall in with a whole bunch o' wizard-folk. Slinging magic around like it's nothing, that was something else. He chuckles.
My mom and dad were physicians in the Tumbledowns back in Port Damali. Mom was a cleric of Raei, the Everlight. Dad was an apothecary. Well, an alchemist, really. They both died a few years ago. I've been raised by the good folks of the docks ever since. I've been trying to get into the Soltryce Academy or the Cobalt Soul. I've written letters, but no one's interested in my designs.
Pockets shows Silent his notebook. It's filled with designs for different tools and devices like prosthetic limbs, modified crossbows and the like.
I hope to someday actually make new arms for some of these sailors who've been injured and are stuck with peg legs and hooks for hands.
Silent's pale pupil-less eyes widen at the schematics in the notebook. You're a wizard in my book! Forget those academy idiots - bet none of them shot a fishman through the eye, eh?
But that's a noble goal. Healing instead of killing - fixing instead of breaking. Using the old noggin to help people. He taps his forehead and grins at the gnome.Never been much good at any of that stuff myself so I gotta say, glad to meet someone who is.

When he sees his opening, Silent will lift his greatsword above his head with his arms shaking from exertion, and he'll bring the point down on the base of the creature's neck, throwing his full weight into the blow and stumbling slightly.
As soon as the creature drops, Pockets is going to run to the shark girl's side and cast Spare the Dying.
Arael greedily begins looting the bodies of the nearest Sahuagins.
Keyo sits back in the sand of the beach, breathing heavily.
"So, do we think that was all of them?"
The greatsword slices deep into the last sahuagin, almost splitting it in two. The broken corpse falls to the ground.

These enemies are not worthy of our lives. We need to run.

(Joao is carrying the girl; he's not too strong, but she's not very big and he seems to be managing)
Silent nods at Arael and to Pockets' point gestures at Joao. Looks like the lad's got her.
He yells at the top of his lungs at the kids, There's a ship in the harbour captained by some cat-lady, get to it pronto! Noticing the drunken sailor he adds You too old-timer, get moving!

Are we close to where he might be?
I'm not keen on leaving him behind, but I'll be damned if I die on this island.
Arael spits blood, and looks at Silent and Pockets.
I'll cover the kids back to the ship, but I'm not going risking my skin for someone I've never met.
She turns to follow Joao.
(OOC: Strength isn't my forte, but if I"m stronger than Joao, I'll carry the girl or roll for it)

Arael shouts back as she's following the kids back to the dock,
Now that you've found your name, find your way back to the ship old man.
Pockets heads for the ship now that we have the navigator.

Oh, I’m not a wizard or anything. More of a...an engineer? I built some tools that can replicate spell effects. Still working on most of it.
Pockets disassembles his crossbow, checking it for wear and tear.
