The crypt is roughly 60' deep and 20' wide, with a half dozen niches extending from each side wall. Twelve sarcophagi lay in a straight row down the center of the room. As Rixton begins to walk away from this first crypt, the four adventurers hear Gwin's words repeated...
No respect for the dead. No respect for the dead.
...the voice, however, is most definitely notGwin's. The voice seems very near...possibly less than thirty feet away...possibly in the hallway...but whoever or whatever is saying the words is wholly unseen.
Molasnake tries to pinpoint the voice's source, slithering closer to it and relying on blindsight (giant constrictor snakes have no darkvision so blindsight's all I have!).
Rixtonstops, drawing his shortsword with a sigh. "I don't suppose, mysterious voice, that you'd accept just accept our condolences for the disrespect committed by others?" he says, turning towards the voice. "As well as our prayers for the affected? And then we can all be on our way. No?"
Molasnake's tongue flicks in and out multiple times as he tries to gather the invisible speaker's scent, but he smells nothing. His massive coils rest upon the stone floor, enabling him to sense the slightest of vibrations, but he senses nothing, nothing that is until the voice responds to Rixton.
Condolences and prayers we do not seek, pereldar.* Vengeance upon the rauka** is what we seek. Only that will bring us rest. Bring it to us!
The speaker's final four words are marked with desperation and rage.
Rixtonresponds in a flawless elf with a clearly high elf accent:
DM and Gwin:
"I've no love for demons," he says. "And I will dispatch any that I encounter. If you have knowledge of one nearby, we will prepare ourselves for it. Any information about this foe we will use to our advantage against it. If it is far, your vengeance will not be any time soon."
Rixton's voice falls silent, and the one to whom he has been speaking suddenly appears. A female elf draped in a long, flowing gown hovers in the hallway, roughly twenty feet away. Next to her is a robed male elf. Their faces simultaneously bear nobility and anguish. They are, unmistakably, ghosts.
The female ghost replies in Elvish,
Rixton and Gwin:
"Whether the demons be near or far, you and your friends are now bound to pursue them, mortal. Give me your oath!"
Her last four words are echoed by a pair of voices behind the four adventurers, who turn and see two additional elf ghosts hovering in the hallway.

Rixtonresponds in a haughty-sounding elvish.
DM and Gwin:
"You would bind me to your cause but tell me nothing of it? That is the tactic of a charlatan. What do you hide? I have made my position on demons plain and you will have your vengeance, whether I provide an oath or not. But I do not take another's cause blindly as I am not a fool."
"Your pride and your secrets will prevent you from seeing your vengeance done. Rest with the knowledge it will one day be done."
Rixtonpulls out his handaxe but wields it in the off hand, only keeping it ready as he moves in with his shortsword to attack ghost 3 (the space between 3 and 4).
Molasnake darts forward and reaches out with a coil to try to see if it's possible to constrict a ghost. Before he does so, he flies into a rage as a bonus action.
Rawley's sword cuts the ghost twice, causing the phantom to emit an eerie wail that fills the hallway. Immediately thereafter, Rixton's sword cuts the ghost a third time, but he can sense his non-magical blade is minimally effective. Landing two unarmed strikes on his second target, Rixtonslips away and into the crypt. Rawley now finds himself isolated, with two ghosts closing in on him, reaching out with their spectral hands...
Withering touch, ghost 3: 10 | 16 necrotic damage
Withering touch, ghost 4: 12 | 12 necrotic damage
Molasnake learns quickly that grappling a ghost will be a waste of his time; he's sure he wounded the ghost a bit, but the ghost effortlessly slips away and vanishes into the stone wall nearby.
Gwin's bolt strikes its target but has little to no effect on the ghost, which now floats through the air reaching toward the cleric...
Withering touch, ghost 1: 9 | 12 necrotic damage
All players may act, in any order. Ghost 2 disappeared into the wall where it is marked with an 'x'

Rixtonsheaths his shortsword as he charges out to flank ghosts 3 and 4. Before reaching his place opposite Rawley, he throws his handaxe at ghost 3, hoping to retrieve it once the ghost is defeated.
Handaxe Attack: 18 Damage: 18
and as he arrives opposite the fighter, he delivers a kick into the ectoplasm of ghost 3 (or 4, if 3 is defeated.)

(I'd thought he'd dart forward to ghost 3, the one he was right in front of and who had gotten hit already, but ghost 2 works fine!)
The snake reverses course in his rage, wheeling for another constricting attack on ghost 1, happy to do damage without pinning the ghost. The stripes on the snake match the tattoos that normally cover Mola's body, pulsing with edritch power (his unarmed attacks are considered magical).
Constrict Attack, flanked with advantage: 24 Damage: 16

Molasnake's head turns to Rawley and tilts to the side a bit, in an almost quizzical expression.
Rawley puts his palm up towards Molasnake in a calming motion.
While Rixton communicates with the elvish ghosts, Gwin takes a moment to translate the conversation for Mola and Rawley.

Rixton's answer does not fall upon welcoming ears. The female ghost's reply is an angry shriek, "Charlatan!?"
Following her lead, the other three ghosts begin to close in on the four adventurers...
Initiative:
...the ghosts' intent is clearly not friendly. The four adventurers, however, were expecting things to go awry and are ready to act.
All players may act, in any order. Map is based upon 5' squares.
Rawley closes in with number 3 and tries to make it disappear, twice:
Attack: 14 Damage: 12
Attack: 25 Damage: 15
Rixton shakes his head and responds in high elf.
DM and Gwin:
"Your pride and your secrets will prevent you from seeing your vengeance done. Rest with the knowledge it will one day be done."
Rixton pulls out his handaxe but wields it in the off hand, only keeping it ready as he moves in with his shortsword to attack ghost 3 (the space between 3 and 4).
Shortsword Attack (flanking for advantage + sneak attack damage): 26 Damage: 19
He whirls on ghost 4 with two rapid unarmed strikes (spending 1 ki.)
Unarmed Attack: 14 Damage: 5
Unarmed Attack: 18 Damage: 8
Rixton then staggers and weaves as if utterly drunk and slips away from both ghost 3 and 4 and finds his way all the way back to just inside the crypt.
Molasnake darts forward and reaches out with a coil to try to see if it's possible to constrict a ghost. Before he does so, he flies into a rage as a bonus action.
Attack: 19 Damage: 14
I am growing quite weary of these phantom menaces, Gwin grumbles, and immediately sends a crossbow bolt singing toward ghost 1.
Light crossbow attack: 18 Damage: 3

No you're in too many campaigns.
I'm glad its not just me that has done that!
