This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Farnakees also looks around the camp to look for anything useful: Smith's tools, etc. (since he plans to learn some smithing himself). To see if there is a way to keep safe should his companions decide to camp here and the rest of the Orc return to this site. Investigation: 17
He takes the pieces of Plate Armor from the Orc to see if can be repaired.
Rastaris breaks out a ration and eats a simple supper of dried fruit, nuts, hard tack and jerky.
He looks around the campsite for a rock large enough he could lean against. He fixes his bandages, making sure they are tight or changes those which have been soaked with blood.
He instructs Xelote to fly up to the spot where the Orc with the longbow was positioned. Xelote should warn him if any of the Orcs return.
OOC - If that's the party's decision, then so be it. Just keep in mind that it's likely orcs will return to this camp. Better detail your watches and what sort of preparations and defenses you're making.
OOC - You guys were traveling the trail; it continues past this campsite. Here's the gist of it -- you can rest in this campsite, taking advantage of its natural defenses, though you run the risk of the orcs showing up. They could come while you're resting or when you're done resting or when you've left -- it's all in the roll of the dice, hint, hint.
OOC - If you leave and rest on the trail -- and if you have a random encounter -- I'll map out a narrow stretch of mountain trail and allow you to position yourselves on it. Think of the roads going up to Baguio -- mountain face on side, sheer drop on the other. Of course, you could end up resting peacefully -- again the Fates will decide, and they're probably rolling dice and consulting a chart in a published module. Again, hint, hint.
"Dangerous as this camp may be, I would see what this orc party is like."
OOC: If there is another higher location where we might view this camp and is still similarly defensible, we can make it look like the orcs we just killed are just slacking off or sleeping. With any luck, any returning orc party is going to be lazy. If we spot them, we can decide what to do: fight or sneak away.
Lathalas searches the camp, but fails to discover anything of interest.
OOC - From what you've seen of the trail, there's no high ground for you to observe the camp, unless you start climbing up the sheer face of the mountain. There won't be any place to rest up there, though. It looks like the orcs picked the best campsite around.
OOC: Were there any other prospective campsites we passed on the way here? (Oh sorry, you already answered that). Also, would the wizards be able to guess what type of spells the orc shamans can cast? Lastly, was there any indication of how long ago the other orcs left camp (like a second campfire that's still warm or something)?
OOC - No oil. As for the hide armor of the orcs, you really think you can sell orc gear? There are several campfires that have gone out, but Alianna can't determine how long ago. As for spells, most orc shamans are followers of One-Eyed Gruumsh, their malevolent deity that hates both elves and dwarves.

OOC - Tell me if you're resting here or on the road, please.

Farnakees votes to camp on this spot.
OOC: No, it looks like Alianna scrounged all the good stuff already; Farnakees can take the plate armor with him.
To the DM: I guess we're camping here.

OOC - The vote is 2-2 then ... is Lathalas the tiebreaker.
OOC: Alianna is also in favor of camping here. (3rd & 4th watch). Rast is taking 1st.
Alianna leans against the rock formation facing the opposite direction whence they came. She then enters an Elven trance.

To the DM: How far is the trail from this campsite?
What is the terrain between the two?

OOC: Sorry. Just had my coffee.
Lath Investigation in case there's anything that others missed: 20 + 0.
OOC: Are there any higher location/vantage point where we might rest but get a view of this camp?

OOC: What weapons and armor did we collect from the orcs? Plate armor, hide armor, 2 great axes, 2 longbows ... how many arrows? Javelins? Any oil?
OOC: Kinky, what do you want with oil?
OOC: Soft, smooth skin.

He is no fool to camp alone in the wilderness.
OOC: Lath votes that we move along, setting up camp far away from this one.
