OOC: How far away are we from Gnomengarde? Do we still have a long way to go? After we do a long rest and we continue our trek, can we rest anytime we feel tired so we avoid potential exhaustion? I don't think we have a specific deadline for when the scroll cases need to be delivered (as long as it's not overly delayed.)
OOC - No oil. As for the hide armor of the orcs, you really think you can sell orc gear? There are several campfires that have gone out, but Alianna can't determine how long ago. As for spells, most orc shamans are followers of One-Eyed Gruumsh, their malevolent deity that hates both elves and dwarves.
OOC: Not interested in carrying and selling orc gear. Only really interested in the bows and arrows.
OOC: We're exhausted and hurt; we're not going to push the pace. The party will seek to make camp away from here, taking our chances on the road. We'll take three watches during our long rest: Farnakees and Alianna. Mithrokk and Rastaris. Lath alone.
OOC: How exactly would Farnakees make it more defensible? As a soldier, he knows the advantage provided by the high ground, like the rock formation the archer was on -- you can put up to two people up there, for example. If you want to build fortifications, though, you have to tell me what materials you plan to use, and wgat you want to build with them.
OOC: Lathalas scrounged another 60 arrows from the camp.
OOC: We've agreed that Rast will be party leader and will communicate to you (the DM) the party's actions during the slower times like these. When Miguel goes to bed, Lath will take over as his proxy.
OOC: So ... long rest now with the watch as set above: F&A, M&R, L.
OOC: Farnakees can take some materials from the Orc Camp, and from the surrounding area to form some barricade-like structures that can used as cover against ranged attacks. That can also be covered with foliage as comouflage, and maybe hide the campfire. He can make use of the environment (e.g. rock outcroppings) or did some shallow trenches / foxholes as alternate defensive measures, set up warning systems on the perimeter of the camp (e.g., to make noise and alert the watch - branches, etc. or some traps, time-permitting. Since Farnakees would be familiar with this routine work, it may not take too long to get the camp somewhat defensible - maybe and hour or two.
The terrain in the area is rocky, without enough foliage to provide camouflage. The ground is also too hard to dig foxholes in.(Do you guys even have picks and shovels?)
However, Farnakees recognizes that the orcs chose this area because the terrain provides two natural chokepoints -- the turn in the path where the party came through, and the gap between the rise (where the campfire was) and the tall rock formation (where the archer was stationed). There are enough small boulders in the area for Farnakees to build a low, crude wall to close off ONE of these chokepoints -- anyone trying to clamber over the wall would be delayed a few crucial seconds in a battle (enemies spend an action to get over the wall).
He also knows that it is crucial to occupy the high rock formation, because it would give the party the chance to detect enemies and possibly shoot them down with archers when they approached.
OOC: This is Farnakees assessment of the terrain. Tell me if the party decides to implement any of his suggestions.
Alianna watches her surroundings, as best she can, but feels the fatigue from the long day's journey and battle take its toll Perception (disadvantage) :4 + 1=3. or 6+1=19
OOC: I'll wait for Farnakees to roll. In the meantime, a serious question. Lathalas is probably wearing loose, baggy pants, right? I doubt he can do all those ninja high-kicks while wearing denims.
Near the end of his watch, Farnakees hears a rustling sound, as well as a few chirps, mixed in with the snores of his sleeping companions. He sees nothing in the dark, however.
OOC: I'm assuming you didn't light a campfire so as not to alert enemies as to your presence on the trail. Thus, Farnakees cannot see since he lacks Darkvision.
Farnakees, aware of their precarious situation, silently signals to Alianna that something unusual is afoot. Birdcalls at night? He points her to the direction of the disturbance, hoping her keen eyesight can spot something. He nudges the next watch awake - Mithrokk and Rastaris, carefully indicating they keep silent, pointing them as well to the potential source of danger.

OOC - I mentioned in an earlier post that you can reach Gnomegarde before dawn if you push the pace and leave now.
OOC: As a soldier, can Farnakees set up the Orc camp to be defensible from attack?
OOC: Lathalas will take the arrows he finds.

We'll camp along the trail. Farnakees will do what he can to keep our position hidden from the main trail, if possible.

OOC: Could be something Farnakees does on his watch...
Lath enters his trance.

The party will not make camp here. We will camp further on.
Despite the natural advantages of the campsite, the party chooses to sleep by the trail.
DM Secret Roll 1 - 10.
DM Secret Roll 2 - 1.
During the first watch, Farnakees and Alianna must make Perception checks.
OOC - Addendum, I need to know which of the party sleep wearing their armor.
Alianna watches her surroundings, as best she can, but feels the fatigue from the long day's journey and battle take its toll Perception (disadvantage) :4 + 1=3. or 6+1=19

Farnakees keeps watch with Alianna. He also plans to take off his armor while sleeping lest he not recover from his exhausted state.
Perception: Minimum of 11 and 9 = 10
