"Very well." Brocc nods. "Let's stop by the shops, so you can get the map and supplies, then we can head out." he pauses. "Where are we going exactly? Are we looking directly into these places the lady wishes us to check, or do we go and check with the clan having those issues we heard about? We agreed to look into those places for the lady, but we did not say we would do so directly."
Also is curious about the clan mention. "What clan was it again? And before we go to any of the areas she mentioned, we may want to ask if anyone else needs or wants anything at one of those places, or on the way there, or near any of them. Always good to have a well planned route to get the most things done." He likes to be practical about things...well, about some things.
( This post will repeat some old info for the new folks.)
Heading north the party soon come to the gates of Chalice where a group of Man-Orcs in the livery of the Chalice Guards are chatting amiably among themselves, they nod to you recognising a few faces at least.
Heading north out the gate you know the Moonstone hills, ‚a tortuous labyrinth of gullies and heights, prone to strange mists and haunted by wandering spirits, lie to the Northeast via the Lowland Gap and you follow the rough trail as it ascends. Looking back toward Chalice you note the city burial ground off to the west surrounded by high walls and a number of seemingly abandoned farm houses and plots among the other more bustling holdings.
What you all know: The Moonstone Hills are an area of uplands that stretches for many miles to the east of Darkwood Forest and to the north of Trolltooth Pass. Hidden somewhere within these lonely hills about a day’s ride northeast from ‚where the Silver River flows out on to the Windward Plain towards Chalice is the fabled Lost Lake. For a century the skeleton of Kull sailed a raft on this lake, clutching the necromancer Razaak’s sword, awaiting release from his curse but Razaak is now destroyed or so the tavern rumours go. Dead or not, Razaak’s lair is also hidden somewhere in the southeast of the Moonstone Hills, about a day’s journey from the Flatlands.
The Moonstones play host to all manner of humanoid creatures such as tribes of Orcs and Goblins, but also to stranger creatures such as Chameleonites, Wild Elves and others. In the small, overgrown woodland spinneys tales say there lurk Black Fairies and Wood Demons.
Prospectors brave the dangers of the hills, drawn by promises of gold deposits. The many streams are said to run yellow with gold, and techniques such as panning and sluicing are employed by these lonesome pioneers in search of this valuable metal.
After a few hours you are among the hills on the southern edge of the Moonstones and it is getting late in the afternoon, from the rough trail you are walking you can see a number of wooded hollows, a rocky depression and a fast flowing stream which you assume will join the Silver River once it leaves the hills.
Recognising the spot where you first met the Wild Hill Folk, you know that somewhere a short distance away is the cave of horrors where you fought the war-beast......
The Hill Folk are probably nearby, will they find you before you find them?
Brocc is not concerned about finding the hillmen, so he just keeps heading towards their destination. (Which of the locations is the closest to town, according to our map?)
(do we roll perception/investigation/survival to spot the hill folk?)
OOC:
Whatever works for you? Perception to spot stuff. Nature to note any signs of human habitation. Survival for tracks. Investigation for spoor or clues. History to recall are knowledge of settlements etc.
Herman gestures to Zeltheris with a finger in fron of his mouth, to say SILENT
Zeltheris puts on an expression of exaggerated shock, "What, are we thieves skulking in the night? Of course not! You are brave warrior heroes! No need to be quiet about it."
"If they are watching I hope they recognize us before anything untoward happens. I mean we do have some new members now so who knows if they'll shoot first or not."
Banzo checks his map real quick to get an idea of their location.

Brocc knows that their first target is a hillfolk settlement somewhere to the north but not its location, the local hillfolk will hopefully be able to provide that.
Doesn't look for the hillfolk - he knows that they can recognize him (he is very handsome and distinguished after all) and that he can scare them off if for some reason they've gone rabid on travelers again...

Herman raises an eyebrow:
What's the matter with the clan? you know...my memory...
( Anyone wanting to buy stuff can do so. No need to RP it. Just note purchases in the OOC thread.)

Herman pats his forehead
"oh right, there has been recent conflict between the hillfolk and a barbarian griffon rider clan... I remember that passage now..."
"Back into the hills then." Brocc agrees, heading North out of town.

Zeltheris is paying little attention to the surrounding, focusing on entertaining his new companions with tales of heroes of long ago.

Herman wants to check out: whispering to Banzo
"so there are friendly to you, aren't they?"
Thus he goes to the back of the line, hoping this people recognize their Ola acquaintences before him

His best guess is ' somewhere near the M '.

Shalana clanks along until several party members stare at the mechanical contraption. Taking the hint, Shalana oils its joints again.
