Banzo will gather 2 feathers each from 3 different Razor-Wings and secure them away in his backpack.

Banzo has a worried frown on his brow and looks back over his shell to see how big the cracks are.
"Just four of them swarmed me and caught me a little off guard, way to go mirror image."

Herman kneels to look at the corpses of the flying creatures he met for the first time
"Are they valuable in any way , what you think?"
Herman determines that the light, hollow bones might make an interesting instrument and the downy leathery skin a decent material for a sack or water-skin....though it would take tanning and stretching...he's not sure how tasty the stringy meat would be.
Garet sees that the monster tries to disengage and fly sees it as the perfect chance to test his new kit drops his dagger and pulls his demon dagger from his belt and lets fly.
Impressed with the balance of the weapon it soars towards its target and Garet hopes that it returns safely to his hand.

The dagger spins through the air and slashes one of the creatures across the rump before returning to him, it redoubles its efforts to squawk away into the sky.

"Just four of them swarmed me and caught me a little off guard, way to go mirror image."
Enwynn offers the concise opinion of "I know of no arcane uses for their remains. Others may know more than I do. I have seen one this close once before, but slightly smaller than these are, and I did not have time to study it in detail." over her shoulder as she moves to inspect Banzo's shell. Corwyn caws what sounds like in agreement, all be it somewhat muffled by a beakful of fresh Razor-Wing flesh.
The elf looks carefully for signs of cracked plates as she says sympathetically "I understand your concern, Banzo. Shells are easier to damage than they look, and it must be most annoying to not be able to see for yourself without a mirror handy."
OOC: Will a Cure Wounds as a 1st Level casting do to fix the damage? Does Banzo use any metal weapons or even better, a metal shield with a highly polished surface?
Garet impressed with the Demon Daggers performance catches it deftly in his open hand before reattaching it to his belt. With a thought he deactivates the sun blade, attaches that to his belt then he picks up the dagger he dropped previously twirls it in his hand.
"I think Corwyn has the right idea," noticing him feasting on the birds. Garet aware of how small his Rations are and not knowing how easy it would be to get food later in their travels takes his knife and tries to get as much meat as he can from the carcasses.
(ooc: I'll take anything at this point, still can't believe 1 round of those those things almost put me down. Banzo has a dagger.

As healing and butchering are undertaken Corwyn takes wing to scout ahead once more soon reporting back...
Darkwood Forest lies 10 miles north, Yaztromos white stone tower sits to the south of the Forest surrounded by herb gardens, a trail leads north from his tower into the forest and another skirts to the east of the forest running along its edge at the western border of the Moonstone Hills crossing the Catfish River towards Stonebridge ( 30 miles north of Yaztromos tower).
He also marks the abandoned ruin of Xortan Throg’s Tower on an escarpment just within the south eastern corner of the Forest and accessible via a path marked by a gnarled oak.....you had no call to visit this ruin during your previous mission.
Will you pass through the forest or skirt it to the east, you already know Yaztromo is not at home and his tower is likely well protected.
( Some 10 rations can be harvested from the Razor-Wings, the meat is tough and stringy reminiscent of rabbit or guinea fowl.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Enwynn sighs quietly and reports "They hit hard enough to leave some nasty gouges. I'll show you if I can get this in the right place quickly..." then slowly and carefully angles the polished blade of Piercer around so that Banzo can at least see the worst of the damage reflected in its surface, and that of their own dagger, once they understand the concept.
She then humbly invokes Erillia's aid to heal the brave but battered Tortle as best she can for the moment.
(OOC: Better make that a 2nd Level casting of Cure Wounds on Banzo then. 7 HP.)
Garet blood to his elbows from the impromptu butchery, takes four portions of the meat to top his Rations to ten and offers the remains to his companions, noticing Herman's disgust at such an offer. For a man used to victory dancing in the nude he has a wry grin at the thought of the bird offending his sensibilities.
When the discussion of the next path comes up and both Zeltheris and Herman looking to take the Forest path. Garet speaks up. "One does not travel into Darkwood Forrest lightly, The Forrest of Doom has more that just those birds in there, my vote would be for skirting it but as always if that was the decision of the group I would follow."
Garet looks over to Banzo after his healing "If you need more assistance, you can happily use the charge from my healing dagger, or we have a potion from Yaztromo that may be of use, just say the word"
"Perhaps we should rest here for a short while before we go on either path." Garet muses a short rest would allow him to regain some of the energy expended in that last battle.
OOC @Banzo both the dagger and the potion might be better employed just before or during combat but the offer is there. If you want any of the potions just shout and its yours.
(ooc: that healing from Enwynn did the trick... up from 3 to 19hp... ty)
Enwynn's magic takes out most of the scars and all of the cracks in the shell, restoring it to almost brand new.
Banzo uses his dagger to get a relatively good look at the back of his shell.
"Oh Wow! You've done wonders to it. Just look how fresh and textured it looks. This takes decades off my age."

Garet nods to Herman "I always thought you were a Wolf, Herman and we were all part of the pack and as the ancient Solamanics say Lupus non Mordet lupus."
The elf smiles at Banzo's happiness in wholeness and replies "You're welcome, and I will thank Erillia for it on your behalf."
Enwynn offers the cautious observation to Garret of "While I agree that it is best not to waste the windfall of fresh meat, Corwyn is what he is, and much of what he is, is well..." then breaks off as she struggles to find the words to best express her thoughts, shrugs and continues "...A Darkwood Crow, with the appetite you would expect of a scavenger bird who was never quite sure when their next meal might be. I would suggest that you keep downwind of any predators or scavenger packs while carrying large quantities of fresh meat."
That said, she trades a day's worth of rations for a share and looks the meat over with Erillia's wiser eyes as she wonders if there is more to the Razor-Wings attack than mere hunger and lack of easier prey to be found in this bleak and unforgiving landscape.
(OOC: After casting Cure Wounds as a 1st Level spell on herself for 7 HP rolled on sheet, Enwynn casts Detect Poison And Disease, and studies the meat and the flyer bodies. I doubt there's any reason for Enwynn's concern, and no offense is intended by it, she's just going the full park ranger investigation on it. )
When Corwyn returns, none the worse for his snack, Enwynn relays the following information from his scouting flight:
"Darkwood Forest lies 10 miles north, as the crow flies. The white stone tower of the wizard Yaztromo sits to the south of the Forest surrounded by herb gardens, a trail leads north from his tower into the forest. Another trail skirts to the east of the forest running along its edge at the western border of the Moonstone Hills crossing the Catfish River towards Stonebridge, some 30 miles north of Yaztromos tower."
She pauses in translation to warn "Speaking of which, I advise against dropping by the white tower while he's busy elsewhere. The tower's defenses are rather less forgiving than he is in person." Corwyn nods in knowing agreement at this interjection on Enwynn's part.
The elf concludes "The abandoned ruin of Xortan Throg’s Tower is on an escarpment just within the southeastern corner of the Forest and accessible via a path marked by a gnarled oak..." then looks about the group as she adds "I did not have cause to search that place when I last passed through the Darkwoods, so I can tell you little of it but that it exists still, and that the Forest has not yet fully overgrown the trail leading to it."
She spreads her hands and bows her head as she explains "I have never traveled there as part of a group, only swiftly and in hasty search of a lost treasure, but what little I know of it is yours to know if you wish to hear it. For my own part, I would welcome a brief rest before moving on. If we take the side road around the Forest, there may yet be trouble waiting for us on it, but I would like to pay my respects to Bigleg on the way."
There is a haunted look to her eyes as she says softly "Would that I had been faster on the road, and better versed in healing when I met him..." then looks to Zeltheris and Hermn as she adds "I agree with you both that there are threats to travellers in the Forest of Doom that would be best dealt with now, rather than left to prey on others, but those threats are greater than either of you might believe."
"We could all take a swim, or even a bath, at this point in the river. It looks like a good place to take a short rest. I'm sure most of this will wash right out."
(ooc: are we taking a short rest here?)
