"I...am not in the least bit comfortable with stealing from dwarves who've already suffered enough. However, I shall go in the hopes that I can talk to the dwarves and strike a deal to obtain some truestone legally and morally. Would that be fine?" The red paladin said.
Tom is curious as the one eyed titan strikes up some conversation with the party.
"Well my good man, if more adventure presents itself, I am sure we will be staying around longer!"
"This Truestone you speak of certainly sounds like an interesting endeavor. I wonder how many of this Manadrax person's orcs and skeletons are still alive in this here mine. And you're sure Manadrax is dead? Either way, I know I'm up for it. I assume this will need to be kept secret from the dwarves... seeing we will technically be stealing from them... yes? Will we need any special equipment to mine this Truestone?"
Tom's desire for adventure trumps his moral dilemma about stealing, but asks the others how they feel. "How do you lads feel about this? I mean technically... the dwarves haven't even found the Truestone yet." Thom winks at the group.
"So... where's this long pine tree you speak of? I'm well versed in the woods and I'm sure I'll be able to find it for us if you can describe it."
" All the information I have tells me Manadrax is dead....not many who fight dwarves end up otherwise. Ah, the mine is in the south of the Moonstone Hills, you should be able to pick up the trail there once you head north out of the city. As for the mine itself, it is beneath a large bald hill and the tree is the only one growing upon it. I'm not sure exactly where the mine is but its not secret so you should be able to ask along the way, just remember its the 'new' mine not the Traditional mine....new being a relative term obviously."
Rufus smiles at Tom's words. He is toying with two of the Demon Dagger's testing their balance and familiarizing himself to their unique design. He says, "A ship scuttled on the reef and abandoned by captain and crew be fair game for whatever brave soul enter within for that which be left behind. I see this be no different, except instead of sharks there be orcs and undead. I cast me vote to venture to the mine. What be in it for ourselves though, except for adventure that is" Rufus looks up expectedly at the smith with a smile upon his face, a blade perfectly balanced in the palm of his hand.
" I can give you 100 gold each upfront...it should be little more than a journey, an entry, breaking off a piece of stone and a return."
"I...am not in the least bit comfortable with stealing from dwarves who've already suffered enough. However, I shall go in the hopes that I can talk to the dwarves and strike a deal to obtain some truestone legally and morally. Would that be fine?" The red paladin said.
The cyclops smiled, " Well, in that case I believe I will be giving the compensation to yourself to hold, being a fine honest and upstanding gentleman . Here is 1000 gold, please leave it within the mine, somewhere well hidden...if I know dwarves they'll find it. I only need a small piece and....well....they would not sell such a thing to my kind. "
" If you do find any dwarves there then by all means please plead on my behalf, but I believe the mine is currently abandoned."
Hatch was visibly relieved as he accepted the thousand in gold. Being able to compensate and pay the dwarves went a long way to getting him over any moral hurdle. He was still a little dubious, but his main concern had been alleviated.
"I'll make sure they find this," Hatch promised.
"When we get you your sample you're free to experiment with it however you want, but if you're open to suggestions, I wouldn't mind trying out an axe with a Truestone edge or handle or something. You can keep my gold reward and pay me with that, even if it doesn't turn out well. Be interesting at least," he suggested, as curious it seemed about what this mineral could do as the cyclops was.
"I don't have any problem as long as we are leaving something in the way of payment." Brocc says with a shrug. He would accept the 100 gold in up-front payment and nod his thanks.

"South of the Moonstone Hills, got it! New mine, got it! Seems like this entrance should be rather easy to find. Will be sure to ask around. And thanks for the gold... not many folk enjoy paying up front. It's much appreciated my good, um, my good cyclops."
Tom takes his 100 gold, and walks out. He'd say to the others "Well... any other spots anyone wants to check out before we head south? I wonder if we should inquire about this mine here in town... or maybe it's better if we don't mention it around here. I've a lot of scouting experience and could likely find this bald hill and tree quite easily I'd think."
Rufus squints as he observes the sun's position in the sky. He notes that it is near mid-morning. He says to the others, "There be no time like the present. If you be ready lads, I suggest we head out at once."
Hatch spoke up, saying, "We may want to go see if we can afford to get the Wand of Tiny Hut fixed. We may need it, and I'd hate for it to fail and become unusable. Other than that, it may be polite to track down Girior and tell her we'll be taking a little trip. She was kind enough to make sure we were properly compensated after all, I'd like to keep her looped into our comings and goings while we're in Chalice," he finished.
"Good point." Brocc says. 'I will see if I can find anyone to fix the wand." He pats the pouch where the wand is stored currently. "Shall we meet back up at our inn then?" When it is agreed upon Brocc will try to find a shop that deals with wands or magical gear, and see if they can repair the wand.
Hatch and the others ask around about where Girior may be found and were eventually directed north along Lion Street and told to ' look out for the tower'....
...............
Brocc asked around about a magic shop or the like and was eventually directed towards Barrel Street and told to head north and look on the corner of Royal Street and Queens Avenue.
...............
About half an hour later Hatch and the others came to the northern end of Lion Street and looking around saw a number of government buildings and a large stone tower to the west. Heading along Queens Avenue they saw a figure approaching from the west, as they came to the corner of Royal Street they waved to Brocc as he came level with them.
Before them was a large stone tower, the base of which seemed to be a store of some kind though there was no signage.
A bored looking gnome guard leaned on the wall outside the entrance.....
Tom was eager for adventure once they left the weaponsmith, and wanted to leave as soon as possible, although also agreed with the party in fixing the wand and telling Girior about us leaving town. "...although maybe we shouldn't tell her EXACTLY what we are going to do... don't want to ruffle any feathers. Right, ok then yes Hatch I'll come with you to see if we can find her."
As they approached the tower which they were just told to watch out for, out of sheer curiosity, Thom says to the gnome guard "Top of the mornin' my good man! Have ye seen Madam Girior out and about on this fine day? We're lookin' for her and would be delighted if you've seen her on this day?"
Brocc would shake his head in a bemused fashion. "Guess we could have just went together then huh?" He moves on up to the tower as well. "I also need to speak with a crafter of magic items, to see if they can repair a wand I have." He tells the guard.
Rufus nods at Brocc's statement. He says, "Aye. We be but so much flotsam and jetsom on the waters of life. The tides be fickle indeed." He moves to enter the tower behind the others.

" Nup, still upstairs I'm betting."
He looked them over with their weapons and armour, " Yer, not aiming on murder, right?"
" Just jokes, she'd cook the lot of ya before you got two foot."
Brocc would shake his head in a bemused fashion. "Guess we could have just went together then huh?" He moves on up to the tower as well. "I also need to speak with a crafter of magic items, to see if they can repair a wand I have." He tells the guard.

Hatch takes up a position behind the others and follows.
Having been waved in by the guard the group looks around, the room is fulI of tables and benches laden with bizarre pieces of equipment and scientific apparatus. Around the top of the circular wall have been painted pictures of strange mythological creatures, and the slightly domed ceiling is a , deep blue, inset with sparkling gems to form a map of the heavens. Slumped over a book on a desk is a skeleton, wearing a blue robe embroidered with stars and moons.
The book. It appears to be a treatise on various funguses. On the far side of the room a circular staircase ascends to the next floor.
"Uh, just checking, Mr. Skeleton, are you actually conscious and reading that book?" Hatch asked, just checking to see if the skeleton was really dead or just undead.

Brocc pads across the room towards the stairs, as Hatch speaks the skeleton suddenly sits bolt upright, and speaks in a high reedy voice, " Wha....Huh....Just resting my....uh...sockets....."
" Oh! Visitors!"
" Sorry, reading the book? Yes, yes I am. And how can I help you?"
"I...am not in the least bit comfortable with stealing from dwarves who've already suffered enough. However, I shall go in the hopes that I can talk to the dwarves and strike a deal to obtain some truestone legally and morally. Would that be fine?" The red paladin said.

Hatch agrees they should meet up at the inn, and he, along with whoever in the party isn't going with Brocc, would start searching out Girior.
Hatch and the others ask around about where Girior may be found and were eventually directed north along Lion Street and told to ' look out for the tower'....
