During the short rest Herman uses his magic strength to butcher the huge leech out of curiosity and to enjoy at least some of the huge force he can now muster
Ooc: maybe the leech has eaten something valuable or one of its part might be useful. Also translated as: damn, I spoiled a magic potion
As expected most of the creatures long and enormous stomach contents consist of mud though a few items do show up with some searching. ( Herman will not gain the benifits of the rest as he is not resting)-
- 60 gold worth of gold nuggets
- a raw emerald worth about 200 gold if taken to a jeweller and cut.

Enwynn attempts to follow the course of the furious battle at the river's edge but soon realizes that whatever horrid beast the waters have spawned, it is no longer a threat to the party.
She bows to the owls as they return from seeking foes and says "Thank you all for your aid, and please take what you wish of the river's bounty of flesh."
The elf seems strangely unmoved by the carnage around her, only concerned for Tzedaka, as the priestess slumps down, but seeing that Banzo has already stepped in, turns her gaze to the rest of the party in quick appraisal.
Satisfied that all is well with her comrades for the moment, she silently nods in agreement with Banzo on the plan of taking a rest before pressing on and goes gathering up shards of boat hull for firewood.
If her calm falters at the sight of so many creatures who might have lived blameless lives but were slain for their proximity to evil, then it is in the face of a greater threat to all the inhabitants of Allansia, and she has no counter-argument that can overcome that necessity.
The druidess pats Tzedaka on the shoulder and asks wryly "What happened to being careful?" after she asks her own goddess for a helping hand in healing.
OOC: Enwynn casts Cure Wounds on Tzedaka for 7+3 HP

Banzo moves inside one of the musty dwellings the lizardfolk were formerly occupying and lays Tzedaka gently down near a wall and uses his backpack for a makeshift head/back rest. He then looks over Tzedaka and takes note of her many injuries.
"Hold still, I've never used this spell yet but it should help."
He will then use a 3rd level spell slot to upcast [Tooltip Not Found] targeting Tzedaka by gently placing his hand on her forehead. Banzo will whisper "Healthy Body. Healthy Mind." as he casts the spell and heals Tzedaka for 17 hp.

"I suppose this is as good a place as any to spend our first night in the mountain. Who wants first watch?"
Banzo glances around to determine how defensible the lizardfolk structure is and where all the exits are.

Tzedaka seems almost wilted when Banzo takes a look at her. She is pale and seems exhausted. After his healing, like a plant desperately in need of water, she quickly perks up (think Tinkerbell)
she smiles at Banzo as color returns and grabs his hand
(heroism)
”De body is better, now I rest and regain Strength for the tasks ahead of us. Tank you Banzo.”
Looking at Enwynn, she touches the elf’s cheek like an elderly grandmother,
”I need you to be careful dear one. You are…(struggles for the word) morthal”
she curls back up and falls asleep a peaceful childlike look on her gentle face
"You're more than welcome Tzedaka, especially after all you've done for us."
Banzo sets up his bedroll and stretches out.
"Someone wake me for last watch. Unless of course we're 'disturbed' during the night."

Tzedaka: ”I need you to be careful dear one. You are…(struggles for the word) morthal”
The elf looks puzzled as she replies quietly "Yes, I am capable of death." and gestures at the small woman's now somewhat less battered physical form as she concludes "As are you." but there is an uncertainly in her tone. She leans down to ask a further question, but Tzedaka is already asleep.
The puzzled expression does not leave Enwynn's face as she says to Banzo "I will take first watch. I am from a people who need less sleep than most do." then walks away to find a spot to watch over the camp from further away from the lights.
Ennwyn sits first watch as the others rest, creatures from the river swarm the waters edge and the beach feasting on the carnage but no one comes to the cavern from either side that she notes.
She wakes Herman for second watch and it likewise passes peacefully.
When Herman wakes Banzo they see torchlight on the opposite bank moving about but no one calls out or rings the bell. Banzo wakes the others in the 'morning', though he has quite lost track of the time of day at this point.

"For breakfast we'll have to make do with rations."
Banzo munches on his dry rations and washes it down with a few swallows from his waterskin.
"Herman and I noticed torchlight on the riverbank over there earlier. Luckily whoever it was, wasn't interested in crossing as no one rang the bell."
Deciding to do a cursory exploration of the area, mainly looking for exits, Banzo will send Zeno, his cat familiar, out to do some scouting. Every odd round he will share his senses to help make a 'mental map' and every even round he will guide Zeno with telepathic communications to ensure he never roams more than a 100 feet away.
Zeno's Perception: 21

Tzedaka skips to Enwynn and gives her a warm hug. To any awake, “You did well Cheroes of Chalice”
She seems to be in a great mood, smiling and dancing about. (Clearly her energy and child like enthusiasm restored)
She briefly goes to the river bank to try to spy a few fish or other small creatures by the bank (her dark vision making it difficult for them to hide)
Enwynn sits in the near dark and listens to nature reclaiming what is hers as she nibbles her way through several handfuls of acorn bread and dried fruit, alert for any unusual noises amid the feasting wildlife.
When the elf wakes Herman for his watch, she also asks him if she may briefly study the odd assortment of objects he found in the belly of the water beast before she retires to meditate.
OOC: Enwynn casts Detect Magic on the items in question.
After her study, she returns the collection of objects to Herman and says "Thank you. It was wise of you to think to search the inside as well." before she goes and sits crosslegged by Tsedaka, the short sword given to her by Garet sitting across her lap as she rests.
In what passes for morning inside a mountain...
Banzo: "Herman and I noticed torchlight on the riverbank over there earlier. Luckily whoever it was, wasn't interested in crossing as no one rang the bell.
Enwynn replies "I heard nothing but wildlife on first watch. Perhaps the feeding frenzy going on long after the fight put them off?"
OOC: There were a lot of rats mentioned in one of the lizard village building descriptions. Maybe they're a distraction to feline senses?
The elf hugs Tzedaka back gently, glad to see the priestess well again and says "Good Morning. All was, well, if not quiet last night, but it was at least peaceful."
She follows her to the shoreline and keeps a watchful eye on the water as she offers "Forgive me for asking what may be a quite foolish question, Tzedaka, but when you said 'Mortal' before you fell asleep, did you mean mortal as in one who death touches, or mortal as in one who is most deadly to their foes?"
As expected most of the creatures long and enormous stomach contents consist of mud though a few items do show up with some searching. ( Herman will not gain the benifits of the rest as he is not resting)-
- 60 gold worth of gold nuggets

- a bunch of rusty armour and bones
- a lot of dead and dissolving fish
- a lantern which is still glowing.
IF no one else does Ian will pick up and take close look at the still glowing lantern, as that's not normal.
D&D since 1984
it appears to be a small slatted cast iron lantern which is emitting a bright white light from within.
(Short rest or do we have time for a long rest?)
