"Who's this Zagor? You say he's back from the dead after 10 years, he's not a lich is he?"
Banzo looks around at everyone to see if they're interested in what Yaztromo is talking about.
Yaztromo brightened considerably and pulled up a stool, " Story Time!"
" According to the sage Ellagrim Grimalkin of Fang, Zagor's first name is Oldoran, a name reminiscent of the ancient name for Zengis, Goldoran, the town of his birth. He was the son of a merchant wizard from Zengis called Gerlekus Zagorwho in turn was the great-grandson of the sorcerer known as Gallan Zagor, Zagor's great-great-grandfather. Gallan had made vast sums of money from the practice of sorcery and had been the first of the Zagors to move into Firetop Mountain, driven by a need to protect his hoard. "
There are stories that suggest Gerlekus Zagor was a necromancer whose ambition was to produce an heir whose mother was of Demonic origins......but I believe this to be erroneous.
Zagor was initially raised in wealthy surroundings in Zengis. However, at age eight, Gerlekus sent his son to the Flatlands to learn dark magic. It is said that Zagor was part of the Demonic Three, the best students of the sorcerer Volgera Darkstorm, along with Balthus Dire and Zharradan Marr. The three were friends and rivals who killed their master with a Rain of Knives spell, when they thought that he was no longer of any use to them.
It is claimed by some that Zagor enthusiastically helped the others kill Darkstorm; however others say Zagor had no part in the murder of his mentor and deeply resented the other two for their actions.
After that, he separated with the other two, and headed North for Firetop Mountain, a place Zagor had often seen in his "Demon-sent dreams."Zagor spent some time living in the Moonstone Hills. Then he visited Gerlekus again, murdered him with a dagger, and then absconded with his father's fortune. Perhaps it was his ancestor, Gallan's, eviction by the Dwarfs of Redweed that drove Zagor's ambition to reclaim the mountain domain, or perhaps it was the sheer presence of his inheritance held deep within the passages of Firetop. Whatever the reason, he recruited an army of monsters and retook the mountain domain from the Dwarfs. Zagor came to Firetop Mountain on Stormsday 5th of Fire, 249 ac.With the aid of an army of Orcs and Trolls he had recruited, Zagor besieged the Mountain. In 254 ac Zagor 's army finally overwhelmed the Dwarfs and annexed the Mountain.Within his new stronghold, Zagor secreted his vast wealth and began plotting the subjection of all Allansia.
Despite his evil nature, Zagor gave some helpful assistance to the hero Chadda Darkmane during the Trolltooth Wars, after the latter entered Firetop Mountain.....though I suspect this was because Chadda opposed his former study-mates.
A decade ago I provided some small assistance to a band of young women who entered Firetop and slew Zagor.
I believe he has returned to life due to a ritual performed before his death, though I am unsure of its exact nature I have had portents that his recent raids on local villages have taken not just riches but also people....so it is possible he is using them to sustain his new life."
Garet shifted on his feet, all of Titan had heard of Master Yaztromo , and if he was endorsing Madame Giror then any doubts that he may have had about her were dispelled.
"Greetings Master Yaztromo, I am lucky enough to have dealings with two of your former colleagues, Master Ty Kora saved me from death when the caravan I was guarding was attack by bandits and I was left for dead, and I was also able to.perform a small service once for Master Nicodemus. " Garet hoped the old wizard did not push him further on the latter. Once as an apprentice thief in Blacksand one of Garets less intelligent peers had tried to rob the wizard, Garet after returning the wizards coin purse persuaded him not to turn his former colleague into fish and drop him into the Catfish River.
"If my colleagues are willing and after we have settled any obligations with King Gillibran, then I would gladly investigate whether Zagor has indeed returned, but facing such an epic foe we might need aid, is there anything you could provide to help us on such an encounter?"
He sucked on his cheek a little, " I'm mostly carrying medical supplies at the moment for treating the plague victims.....but let me see....."
The old man fished around in his pockets for almost a minute or so, " Ah, here we are. Now as you know.....I'd usually ask for silver for these but I'll make an exception, due to all the good work Girior has told me about, if you bring me back some dragon scales from Firetop when you head there."
Girior sipped her wine while Yaztromo talked with a bemused grin, " Alright, so your waiting on a kings letter? Is it being sent to the Inn? If so I'm sure Gilber will hold it if you wish to head out before it arrives."
The crow on Yaztromos shoulder fixed Ennwyns familiar with a stare, and it seemed some unspoken communication passed between the two avians as they both took flight and headed down the tower stairs....
"What do you think that's all about? Some sort of warning?"
Banzo moves over to the window to get a better look at what might be going on downstairs.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Enwynn gathers her wits to speak a polite response to Madam Girior's words, as it seems her suspicions about the sorceress are unfounded if she is in such esteemed company as Gareth Yaztromo. Indeed, such is her embarrassment that all she can manage is a softly spoken reply of "Wine would be most welcome, thank you." in the wake of Banzo's courtesy.
Her nervousness in making another mortifying error in estimation suggests to her that like Corwyn, she had best listen well and think carefully before she opens her beak again so she sips her wine and listens.
Her ears prick up at the mention of the third scholar's name, and of their care for Shalana, who is unusual in their requirements and in truth, somewhat beyond her limited understanding of medical mechanics, though if she understands little of that kind of healing, then hopefully Erillia can provide what she lacks when it is needed.
It seems petty-minded to ask Girior why in the name of Iatro there is an apparent skeleton working downstairs if, as Gareth says, Zagor has returned from the grave. While she is still rapidly considering the possible requirements of the task Yaztromo has set before them, Corwyn and his feathery colleague have flit down the stairwell.
Her response to Banzo's inquiry is a concerned "I'm not sure, but I hope Corwyn isn't in any trouble. He's been a good scout and a true friend to me for a fair while..." as she pauses in her own flit stairward briefly to look out the window.
" Well, your all welcome to join us in the steam room if you wish before Master Yaztromo has to dash off on his humanitarian mission and I return to my research."
" Where are you all planning on heading next?", Girior finished.

Gazing out the window there seems to have been some sort of altercation between a cart being pulled by two mules and a wagon being hauled by a juvenile Styracosaurus.....there are a number of large cheese wheels and cured hams lying in the dusty street as a Half-Troll and a Lizardman argue about whose fault it is. Among the street kids and passersby helping themselves to the fallen merchandise are two black corvids.
(Lock of hair got burned in the removal of the spirit from the sword. There were suspicions regarding her motives with her also getting some Banzo shell but seeing her with Yaztromo for Garet puts her as firmly one of the good guys)
(On what to do I next I'd be up for exploring the Zagor threat, but I'm good with the majority)
Enwynn surveys the incident below, a relieved smile on her face, and suggests to Banzo "An accident, but a happy one for some people." before turning to Girior to ask in curiosity the least complicated question she can think of as she wonders aloud "Steam room? Is it some form of alchemy, or perhaps hot springs you speak of?"
That said, she looks to Yaztromo and offers "I am glad to see you today, Gareth, even if you bring dark tidings. Better to know of them than be caught unawares by an old enemy unexpectedly returned." with a wry smile.
The elf adds in a quieter tone "There is a matter I wish to discuss with you when Corwyn returns, as I am told he may need your aid to undo a curse." then looks about the group as she ruefully concedes to the sage "He may not be the only one in need of advice on lifting curses."
(OOC: I am happy to go with the majority decision, but if the group is planning on going after Zagor, getting those mysterious tattoos checked out by someone with more experience than the PCs before the group goes hunting sounds like a good idea to me.)
(Could be wrong, but wasn't Zagor the warlock who we thought might know something about the tattoos as well? Other than that, do we know anyone who might know more about them?)

Girior smiles at Enwynn, " Simply hot coals and a tub of water."
Yaztromo pats her on the arm, " Ah.....Corwyn can remain as he is for the time being I think. There is still more for him to learn."
" But......", the old man regarded the rest of the group with a critical eye which seemed to shimmer slightly, then nodded. " The marks, you mean?"
"Yes." Banzo readily shows his tattoo for inspection. "They appeared after the fight with the demon."

Zeltheris half listens to the story as his mind starts to wander off and gazes blankly around the room.
