Rufus closes up his mess kit and returns it to his bedroll. He says to both Brocc and Hatch, "I'm certain that we have enough that Brocc can have a small portion from what we've gathered before turning it over to the smith and wizardress."
"I am not being greedy." Brocc says with a frown. "We are here to get the stone, and have left payment for what we take. I will not be taking any that won't be covered by our payment, but I think it quite important we have some of this to do our own research with. Otherwise we are just handing it over to people we know very little about, who can do who knows what with it." He shakes his head. "I will not even agree to give them the stone we have if we can't perform some of our own experiments with it, even if those tests need to be done after we make the delivery." He meets the other's eyes. "At least we can learn some of what may be done with the stone we give to those others, and, if it proves to be dangerous, can warn those who would need to know about it."
Rufus listens to Brocc's logical argument. He pauses to reflect on the thought and finally says, "Do ye not be trusting the smith nor the lady wizard then? Or do ye not be trusting the stone itself? It be but stone. Surely it cannot pose a threat in and of itself." He looks back at the wall of now in his mind eerily glowing stone, much like Witches Lightning before a storm gathers about the top of the mast. He turns to the others and asks quietly, "Can it...?"
"A material such as this may have any number of properties that can be used for any number of things." Brocc says, waiting for the group's decision. "I barely know the smith or the spell-caster, why should I trust them?" He glances to the others. "And, even if I do, should I trust everyone they will sell things to? We need to know what this material can do, or any evil done by those with this material will be partially our fault."
Rufus nods and looks to Hatch. "I agree with Brocc on this. I dislike not knowing what we will turn over or what it will be used for. I believe a small amount should be reserved for him to tinker with. If we determine it to be a threat, I agree it be our responsibility to address the threat and disuade the gargantuan smith or lady wizard to use it. What say you, Hatch?"
"here..." Brocc says and puts 100 GP down with the diamond and other things. "Will that be better?" He asks. "The problem is we don't know if a single ounce of this material is more expensive than even that diamond there. So there is no way to know how even the trade is. we can only leave what we leave and be content with it."
Brocc would vote for heading out, though trying for a different path than they took in; he doesn't want to have to try and climb over that dead worm-thing again. Unless, of course, there is only the one path back out...
The only path the companions know for sure leads out is the one they came in by...the other tunnel here may well lead out but it is an unknown quantity.
Rufus turns to his two companions and asks, "Do we venture forward in hopes of an alternative exit or so we turn back and brave the crystal cavern with it's horrors? I vote for the quickest route with it's known dangers as opposed to the unknown."
"Very well, but let's try to be a bit more careful as we climb..." Brocc agrees. "Maybe we can tie a rope off before we do the climbing, so we can aid each other a bit easier."
Rufus agrees and pulls a rope from his belongings. He ties it about his waist and passes it to Brocc and Hatch. He says, "Lash your selves together with about 15 feet tween each other to allow movement."
Rufus will lead the party in their attempt to scale the crystal outgrowths once more.
All of the companions make it safely across moving carefully, Hatch has a scare at the cross-over point but they all make it safely to the other side, looking down the armoured moles appear to be sleeping curled up into armoured balls and their is little left of the Rock Grub but its heavily plated head...
The companions have successfully crossed the crystal cavern.

Hatch grabs his shoulder. "We shouldn't be greedy. Unless you can pay the dwarves back, I think we have enough."

"Just don't take more than what the gold covers," Hatch said, giving in against his better judgement.
"here..." Brocc says and puts 100 GP down with the diamond and other things. "Will that be better?" He asks. "The problem is we don't know if a single ounce of this material is more expensive than even that diamond there. Having collected everything they need the companions are free to leave.
OOC: Heading straight back out across the crystal cave or checking the other tunnel? Or something else.
Brocc would vote for heading out, though trying for a different path than they took in; he doesn't want to have to try and climb over that dead worm-thing again. Unless, of course, there is only the one path back out...
Hatch would also vote for both leavings now, and finding a hopefully safer path to get there avoiding the icky mole things.
The only path the companions know for sure leads out is the one they came in by...the other tunnel here may well lead out but it is an unknown quantity.
