Krom, you know the symbol emblazoned on the pins - a crescent moon with a harp inside it. You know this symbol represents a faction in Faerun called The Harpers. Beyond that, however, the organization is a mystery to you.
"My vote then: the pit in the morning. I am curious what lies below, there are likely to be fewer drunken observers, and a 250 mile journey will take a long time, and comes with its own risks.'
Garnet listened intently to Adathar and Ithelion speak, many of her own questions alleviated by their conversation. The prospect of coming out of the unknown horrors that lurked in the pit,out into equally unknown territory was unsettling. Looking to the other party members "I have had my rest. However if you all would like to sleep in the inn this night. I will agree." She paused considering the spectical that accompanied the small group that was lowered into the pit earlier."
Unless we go tonight. Maybe the beasts below are still saited." Garnet still found the inn patrons behavior from earlier as inappropriate. Failing to conceal the slight irritation in her voice she continued. "Then again without the clamor of betting patrons, maybe the beasts below are less likely to react as if a dinner bell is being rung."
Garnet considered the pin Adathar had given. History: 19
"I, too, am rested, but I do prefer to travel in daylight -- especially in unfamiliar territory. It looks like two to three days journey from the Portal to Oakhurst...at least two nights in the wilderness, I think."
Ithelion glances with distaste at the pit, "The creatures in the pit may be sated, or they may just have worked up a frenzy...but five of us, not brimming with over-confidence like the young man before, may be a little more formidable."
"Can anyone think of any other reasons we should leave now, rather than in the morning?"
Lorell shifts uncomfortably. Thinking to himself If the forest we are heading to is attuned to and with dark forces, we would most likely be watched from afar. Lorell thinks back on the pit, the gaping and suffocating embrace of the darkness. "We should only consider leaving now, rather than in the morning if we are prepared to leave now and if we are worried about being spotted or tracked during the day time."Lorell says with a confidence that surprises even himself.
Garnet, you know all that Krom knows and a bit more. You know The Harpers are a secretive organization, some say they are meddlers in the affairs of people, others say they are a benevolent group working towards fairness for everyone. They work alone usually in covert ways. Harpers tens towards incorruptibility, protecting the poor and defenseless against tyrannies and evil. If Adathar has anything to do with The Harpers, the fact he has 5 of these pins is a sign he is not an evil being and the task he has set is a positive one.
Krom nods, "I think there will be less bets in the morning, seein' as most taverns are busy in the evenin'. It sounds like most of ye are fine with leavin' in the mornin', so I saw we do that. If not we can always just flip a coin and leave that choice to fate." Krom starts to fidget with his amulet trying to hide that he is starting to get a little restless. He know that questions will only take one so far in life.

Garnet nodded at the dwarf and looked over to Adathar "Well, we seem to have made a decision. We leave in the morning." She paused "Was there anything else you needed to tell us before we head back to our rooms then?"
"Take care of each other,"Adathar says as he vanishes slowly, the last thing you see are his grin and his glowing eyes.
As each of you retire to your respective rooms, the normal sounds of a sleeping inn return: the snores of those on the second floor, the creaking of wooden beams, and the scurry of mice fleeing from the resident cats.
Sleep doesn't come easy and when it does, your dreams are wracked by visions of a spreading rot, a darkness rising from a hole in the earth emanating outwards; of trees that walk; of horrible and deformed rodents with gnashing teeth; of animals and trees dying and withering before your eyes, changing from whole animal to swirling maggots in a matter of seconds. Your personal goals mix into your dreams, and you see the triumph of glory as you attain them as well as the heartbreaking ache of failure. All of you wake with one image seared into your mind before it disappears the way dreams do, the memory strong at first but dissipating into the unexplained mere moments later.
You see:
You wake with the thought of your task heavy on your mind. But not all is dark: there is the promise of breakfast with the smell of bacon in the air. The morning is yours. What do you wish to do?
If possible, and applicable, Ithelion would have spent some time (short rest) trying to understand the nature and function of the Harper Pin she has been given. She would then have meditated and rested. A little before sunrise she would pack her things and head down to the main room of the Inn and order some of her favourite foods (fresh vegetables). Dreading that today might be her last, she finds the vegetables -- and even the bacon -- much less appetising than normal, and in an optimistic move, puts the fresh food in her pack.
She hands Durnan 2gp [[ removed ]] saying, "I hope I don't need the second one, and that I will be able to reclaim it when this is all over. If you hear that I have died, then give it to the family of the woman who died yesterday."
When everybody looks like they are prepared, finished eating, or are not eating, she says "There is little more to do, but see what waits for us."
She gives a little food to her Owl, saying "You may need to be our scout today."
Krom comes downstairs with his gear ready for travel and sits at the bar ordering himself some breakfast and a stiff drink. "Aye, Durnan, I get ye bracers and two gold fer the pulley ride." Krom hands the bracers over to him along with two gold.

Ithelion asks Durnan, "How far down might it be to the bottom? And...is there any harm in those who can fly..."" she says, looking at her owl, "...from exploring early?"
Durnan takes the gold from those who have paid, placing one gold coin from Ithelion and Krom into a lockbox and the other behind the counter, where the curios of the previous adventurers rest.
@krom Durnan exclaims in surprise as he sees the bracers, "Ho, ho! Aye those are the ones. Thanks be to ye good dwarf! This one's on me," as he puts down a tankard of Dwarven ale next to Krom.
@Ithelion Durnan purses his lips in thought. "It's about 140 feet to the bottom. That's what we call the Shield Room. The walls ye see, are lined with old shields of adventurers - mostly useless, ye know - but that's how we know ye need to come back up - ye bang on them rusty plates and we send the rope down for ye." Seeing the look of surprise on the faces nearest him, he goes on "Aye, I s'pose he didn't tell you anything 'bout that room eh? Figures."
Durnan looks at the owl and shrugs. "Ye sure can try it, it should be fine. Mind ye, there are things down there that catch a thing like that," gesturing to the owl, "in a web to eat fer later. Ye just let me know and I'll release the ward."
Durnan turns to the adventurers closest to him and says, "When ye're ready let me know...after ye've all paid, that is." He'll focus on the hobgoblin and grit his teeth, somehow finding some inner resolve that sees the goblinkin as a customer rather than a vermin.
[Ithelion, if you'd like to send the owl through, please roll a perception check with advantage for your owl.]
@daemyar - you also know a bit about The Harpers - the same as Krom - but perhaps more if Garnet decides to let you know what she knows.
@Ithelion - resting and meditating on the pin brings you no new knowledge. I would assume Krom, Daemyar, and/or Garnet would let you all know what they know about the pins. It is a plain iron pin.
Ithelion would like to see and hear through it's eyes, and control it if necessary, which means it won't go to the bottom (limit 100'), but it should be able to *see* to the bottom. It will fly in, being wary of webs etc, then fly out, unless as a result of what it sees, it feel confident of a longer visit.
Perception: 16 (I have assumed I'm using it's perception...if Ithelion's, then +1 more)
Just checked...we may BOTH get rolls, so in case that's true: Perception for Itelion: 16 (and one more for Ithelion because I forgot Advantage the first time): 24
Edit: Things of particular interest:
creatures moving/living
bodies of the two who died
shields matching the description (probably too hard to see)
doorways/hallways leaving the pit
Obviously that's a lot to try to take in, in such a short time!

Yeah, you can make many things out from looking through your familiar's eyes, you can see the bottom of the pit, the sand, the crawly things, the mice You hear in your mind, Food, meat, hungry...9 and before your familiar plunges downward to get its meal, you do notice the following:
- no sign of the adventurers other than a few raw bones and dampness where their lifeblood spilled out
- the shields are plentiful and you don't see it, even through the Owl's eyes. You guess that you have to be a bit closer for this.
- you see an area where it gets darker and this would be the doorway leading away from the room and, your srumise, into Undermountain
- as your Owl plunges downward some creatures come out, drawn by the movement. Owl avoids them and before you lose contact, you see some creatures that look like spiders. You're not completely sure as your owl is diving pretty fast.
Garnet was up with the dawn rested, packed and ready. She had already finished eating some time ago and had already given her coin to Durnan. Now she was Idling in the main room, Ithelion and the others were all ready there. Garnet moved closer to the bar just in proximity, not taking a seat. She stared down at the pit absently listening to Ithelion and Durnan's discussion. Withdrawing the Harper pin from her pocket and secureing it to her cloak she stepped over to the edge. Yesterday she had been afraid of what lay beneath, now she felt prepared, not fearless, just ready.
Garnet snapped from her thoughts when the little owl dove into the pit. Watching it disappear from her line of sight, silently praying it would make it unharmed.
(I'm just gonna assume she gave her coin to Durnan when she came down if that's ok)
