As some of you run towards Krom, who has been making it known he has found the shield, a wave of spiders crash into the room from the tunnel. Ithelion, you step up as you wanted to and have the spell readied.
Garnet hears Krom announce he had found the shield and her heat leaps in her chest. She hurddles across the room to stand just behind Ithelion. The elf looks ready to cast some kind of spell so Garnet wants to be ready to back her up. Noticing the spiders hesitation to the flame she keeps the torch held high knowing it's probably a temporary effect.
Keeping her eyes on the spiders ahead she shouts to everyone gathered "Alright I suggest ya'll start doing whatever it is that shield is supposed to do. " Gesturing to Lorell she continues her voice pitching a bit."Quickly now!"
Garnet can almost see the darkness getting closer and she feels as if she can hear her blood roaring in her ears. In a more steady voice she speaks to Ithelion "If you're holding them off I have your back."
A slightly hysterical laugh escapes Ithelion's lips before she stifles it and says, "I don't know what I'm doing...Hoping to slow them, perhaps...do not walk in front of me."
She moves very slightly to the right [[ Still in same hex ]], hoping that the two piles of fallen rocks will funnel the spiders, and that the cone of her spell will buy them all the few seconds that they need.
A little more focused again, she says without looking back, "And...thank you."

Okay. With Lorell moving closer to the rest of you the spiders breach the mouth of the tunnel, their eyes drawn to the movement of the genasi and the druid.
Ithelion your spell is triggered and all the spiders are within range.
Please roll initiative! [remember the actions available to you!]
[I will use the spiders' initiative roll as their DEX save versus Ithelion's Burning Hands just to save on length here.]
Ithelion lets loose the energy building in his hands into the spiders, and all but the big one go up in flames (HDYWTDT?) The bodies of the spiders fall to the floor and the flames shooting from Ithelion's hands illuminate the inside of the tunnel a little bit more....it is absolutely infested with spiders. For this brief moment, they are held at bay by the searing memory of flame but for how long? Already they are beginning to pick over themelves testing the doorway again. In seconds, wave upon wave could crash over you. In addition, during the quick flare up of magic, you are able to see several larger humps among the throngs of smaller spiders. What are you going to do?
@nachrock - You inspect the shield: half white And half black. The tree is intricately painted onto the shield and it seems rust-free and new. Do you touch it?
The giant wolf spider is on fire and slowly limping towards you, a flaming ball of flesh on long legs any hair that it had is gone. It sounds like it’s growling and whimpering to the same time.

Ithelion gags briefly, the taste of bile in her mouth. Thankful that she had no appetite for breakfast, she takes in the scene and realizes that there are yet more spiders, and that the largest of them still lives, surrounded by the burned bodies of its smaller...children? Her eyes hardening, she thinks to herself: you came to kill us. Reap what you sow!
Her choice seemingly made, she focuses her mind on the shapes and forms to cast Ray of Frost, targeting the mutilated form of the large one, hoping to either end its misery or at least to slow its progress. But as the meditative calm settles upon her mind and her focus shifts to the arcane knowledge that has always been part of her, the spider whimpers; a sound she could never have imagined until this day. She pauses; a doubt.
Adathar spoke of inter-connectedness. We are the product of the choices we make: Her words. Disengaging, she runs to the shield, shouting “Wear the pins...touch the shield...that’s what he said!”
As she reaches it, she summons Elosa to her, and places the palm of her hand on the shield.
@lorell - your spell goes off successfully in a square area near the door. It entagles the giant spider and is restrained; first 3-4 smaller spiders and another large spider walk into the vines and are restrained - they seem to accept their fate and just stand there. A few more walk into the vines and are also caught. Then the smaller spiders begin to crawl up the sides of the wall and onto the shields: more spiders crawl from the tunnel and into the vines and weeds that are magically sprouting from the floor. In a matter of seconds, the tunnel and walls around it are being covered by spiders of all sizes now. They are cautiously advancing, but advancing nontheless. You guess there are maybe 30 or more spiders in the area and increasing...
@ithelion - you catch one of the burned spiders' eyes...pain? rage? sorrow? It is hard to tell and it is soon buried by the wave of spiders coming up through the tunnel, on the walls, over the shields....as your hand touches the shield, you disappear from sight.
@lorell, @krom, @garnet - you 3 are left in the room. The sounds of the spiders' walking and moving, their chitinous bodies rubbing on each other and an the floors and walls. They are all emitting a vibrating humming sound - it seems to come when they rub their pedipalps together, almost like a song played on the violin...You estimate that, In a minute or less, you will be overrun with spiders on both sides. What do you do?
