Daemyar will move about the room, inspecting for traps
Investigation 10
Daemyar, you scan the room as you move through it, careful not to step into any of the holes, which are about two feet in diameter. You don’t see any signs of traps - magical or otherwise. Inspecting the statue on the column in the center, you get the same conclusion - it doesn’t seem like they are trapped in any way....
Garnet steps carefully into the room and investigates the holes, has a look at the dragon statue as well. "This is strange, what do you think of this?"

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Garnet steps carefully into the room and investigates the holes, has a look at the dragon statue as well. "This is strange, what do you think of this?"
Investigation : 10
Similar to Daemyar above, you see the holes are similar to the ones you identified in the rift as being from fire snakes. In addition to the smell, you rub your hand around one of them and it comes away sooty, ash crumbling in your hand. [i assume you’re not putting your hand into any of the holes, if you are let me know] The dragon statue is carved of rock with two gems where the eyes would be. Since Daemyar’s blade is still active giving you a light source, you can see the deep blue color of the stones reflecting the light.
Garnet continues to examine the dragon statue, examining the base, the eyes, how it is sitting - looking for any traps. She does not put her hand into the holes. "Do you want to look in another room? What's the worst that could happen, lightening bolts out of the eye sockets?"

@garnet - you don’t sense anything new about the statue. It rests on a stone column. It looks pretty mundane to you, in that there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly special about it.
Remembering the peculiar statue with the secret compartment in the earlier room, Ithelion also casts a suspicious eye over the room, looking for more tell-tale scuff marks or other signs that all is not what it appears.
Investigation: 7
@DM: Late to the party and happy is "everyone" rolling is not appropriate!
Seeing nothing new, she grunts and moves on after the others.
@shere - Seeing Ithelion pass by you to enter the room, you drown in thought. You step into the room and watch as Ithelion checks over the statue. As she leaves the room, you too decide to take a look, with Garnet and Daemyar watching. You line up the statue in your eyeline from several different angles. At one spot, one of the holes on the walls lines up with the statue perfectly. It’s a bit larger than the other holes on the ground and other walls. When you look closely at the sides of the column and statue closest to this hole, there are some traces of ash not present on the other sides of the statue and column, and even as you investigate on the “hole side” of the statue, it does seem warmer the closer you get to the wall where the hole is. The hole in the question is about 6 feet (2 meters) up the wall.
Shere steps away and points this out "The hole in the wall up there almost my height is warmer its closerr and lines up with the statue. Maybe if you turrn the statue with a mage hand or something. Maybe a rrope to turn it around orr one of your servants Chiquita."
It doesn't look like there is a seam anywhere - it looks as if it was sculpted in one piece with the rest of the column. You could try to move it though...
[just for clarity, i have Krom and Ithelion & Elosa outside in the hallway, with Daemyar, Garnet, and Shere investigating and searching in the room. Let me know if that's not accurate.]
@shere, One other thing you notice in your investigations - you identify the gems as sapphires, from the light on Daemyar’s blade. A good estimate is probably 50-75 gp each for such stones.
Okay, Shere has left the room, leaving Garnet and Daemyar. Daemyar begins looking in all the holes, moving his lit dagger over them. Everything is fine, and the holes you check are empty.....until you get to the big hole mentioned above. As you move close to that one and peer inside, You notice there are several gems within But you also notice two glowing orange circles reflect back at you and you hear a deep hiss. A long slinky creature races forth, glowing with flame. The heat increases exponentially as the creatures body flares to life. You pull back, surprised!
