Krom drops his pack and sinks to the ground holding his warhammer in his lap, "I can take any watch." He settles into his spot before looking around at the group, "I can only do this fer one of ye and fer only one of yer gear. But come to me in the morning if ye feel that ye need yer weapon to pack a little more punch or if ye feel that ye could use a wee bit more protection from yer armor. Basically I can bless either yer weapon or armor fer the day to be just a wee bit better."
((Spoiler is for the inspiration question.))
If you have inspiration, you can expend it when you make an attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. Spending your inspiration gives you advantage on that roll.
Additionally, if you have inspiration, you can reward another player for good roleplaying, clever thinking, or simply doing something exciting in the game. When another player character does something that really contributes to the story in a fun and interesting way, you can give up your inspiration to give that character inspiration.
Daemyar shakes his head at Krom. “My gear’s fine, but thanks. Help the others.”
”The dream was of traitors. Their guts should be spilled out. The stench of their betrayal would be worse than the bowels. They are the cowards.” Daemyar is a bit overloud with his words, rather than quiet.
Garnet tapped her shield gently in thought before holding it out to Krom. "I will take you up on that offer." It had been sometime since any of her equipment was blessed, she felt it was due.
Ithelion listens to Daemyar, taken aback by the vehemence of his words, while trying to imagine the dream he must have had. I wonder if all his dreams are like that? Eventually she shakes her head to clear her thoughts: Can't be.
"That...that sounds quite vivid. Though...strictly speaking...not all traitors are cowards. Of course, most would be: those who are paid off to sell little secrets at the like. Or big secrets. But, some -- the more notable and less sordid ones -- some, I think must be brave."
She frowns, "Though, I suppose, most times history would record them as heroes, not traitors."
She glances around, realizing her thoughts have wandered. "Sorry...old habits. Yes. Well."
Some time later, after listening to the others for a time while absently picking the travel grime from her clothing, she says, "We were sent on this task together. We were clearly also all sent these visions. Perhaps they are all private messages, but if we are to see this though, then making sense of them and sharing our conclusions might help ensure success. And doing that sooner rather than later might be best."
Krom takes Garnet's shield and sits down with it in his lap, "Aye, I'll bless yer shield fer ye lass." He takes his holy symbol off from around his neck and starts tracing the symbol of Moradin on her shield while muttering prayers. After a few moments the faint glow of Moradin's symbol rests on Garnet's shield and a small divine aura glows around the shield. He hands Garnet her shield back, "There ye go lass, its not much but it will give ye a wee bit more protection when ye hold yer shield."
((OOC: Krom used Blessing of the Forge on Garnet's shield and it now has a +1 bonus to AC and is considered a magic item until the end of a long rest or until Krom dies.))
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
After saying her piece, Ithelion will busy herself with preparations to depart; storing her gear, reviewing her notes from yesterday, and if there is water nearby, filling her waterskin.
When everyone else is ready, she will focus her will on the fire, and snuff it out.
(( I assume we depart; conversations about dreams to continue on the walk or in the evening ? ))
"Thank you Krom." Garnet took back the shield running her hand over it satisfied. She got to her feet and went back over to her pack s ensuring everything was ready for the travel. Garnet munched on a ration pack as she considered Ithelion's words. The elf was right of course, better to work as a team then suffer ignorance alone. Shame settled in the pit of her stomach as she recalled what had happened in her dream, but she knows which part to share. Hoisting her pack up Garnet was ready to depart.
(I'm assuming we can talk and depart or whatever does not bother me.)
Turning to Ithelion "You mentioned you dreamed of books?" She paused and continued hesitantly "I dreamed of other things, not an item I need to obtain, but what should be done." Garnet swallowed the guilt rising in her throat and continued quickly her words rushing out in a stutter. "Th-The main thing being that the druid Adathar spoke of, the one that started this. Belak I think was his name.He wasn't powerful enough to start these events into motion, something else is at work."
Daemyar is pretty interested in what you’re saying, Ithelion
“How is one to know a cowardly traitor from a brave one? History is written. It can’t be changed. Only new history can be made. New tales of victory. Or new allies to record the story.”
(( Happy that this conversation is an ongoing thing through the morning/day/evening ))
To Garnet:
Ithelion considers for a moment, "Lorell...I think Lorell mentioned a Vampire and blood -- would that be sufficient, do you think? There is a lot going on here, for the gods to get involved."
She is lost in thought for a moment, her focus clearly elsewhere, then adds "The biggest mystery to me remains: Why us? Adathar's answer was ... incomplete. I trhink that the visions are likely the clue, but whatever their reasons, it is a privilege to be called upon by such people. They clearly see us as the right ones for the task: I just hope we can live up to their trust. Whatever personal message, or doubt, these visions gave you, remember that despite this doubt, you were chosen."
She considers again, "And yes...you are right to mention the books. They too are connected with a dark and distant past. I have been tasked to retrieve them. Perhaps they may shed light on the root cause of this corruption."
To Daemyar:
She frowns at the complexity of the question, pondering her long reading of history, then speaks a little hesitantly. "If there's one thing I've learned in my studies, it is that there is history, and that there is truth. They are often unrelated; a traitor to one side in a war, is often a hero to the other. Official histories are often just useful tales, designed to create important heroes -- and traitors -- and thereby to justify the most heinous of acts."
"One thing is clear to me though: Standing up for what you believe to be right and true...against the odds, against your upbringing, or against long tradition...that requires bravery, no matter what others may call you -- or what history records."
Then she smiles, "Of course it doesn't make one right! Just brave."
Daemyar contemplates Ithelion’s words solemnly, listening intently. He pauses in thought for several long moments.
”These traitors. They ran away. They did not stand up for anything. But neither did anyone else. That may make them all traitors. I will think on this.”
As Daemyar departs, she says, "Sometimes, running away is 'standing up'. Sometimes it is the only choice that a person of conscience can make."
She frowns as he leaves, believing him to be the one he calls a coward in his tale, but feeling quite certain -- just by his questions alone -- that he is no coward.
In terms of speed, we went quite late the previous night; if we can get to Oakhurst today, then we should try for it. Otherwise, a pace that is fast enough to ensure arrival tomorrow ))
If you travel at a fast pace and maintain it, you could reach Oakhurst today. It's almost exactly 30 miles away following the New Road. If you travel at this speed, your perception is lessened due to the speed.
Okay, Daemyar/Elosa and Krom/Garnet - please make a perception roll, either one of you roll twice or both of you roll once.
Ithelion please make a survival (wisdom) roll with advantage (see your PM). I will assume you are working on your map as well.
Lorell if you would like to do anything whilst traveling let me know.
Survival, Adv: 8 ; and if I can get a little guidance as we orient ourselves then: 2
The wolves unsettled her for some reason, and the varied visions that everybody seems to have had are preying on her mind. Ithelion could barely make sense of her own map.
