Seeing Garnet appears safe, Ithelion will approach warily and investigate hopefully with help from Elosa(?) or another party member ((cc: perhaps Krom since he has skills that nicely complement investigation...))
Elosa can help you if you're looking through her eyes, but on her own an owl's investigation (even if it is a spirit) would be very different. Are you looking through her eyes or your own? And what are you wanting to investigate, specifically? It's a large area :)
Ithelion is trying to understand what happened at the wagon, and who the occupants might have been. She will leave tracking into the forest to someone else ;-)
You see the symbol on the side of the wagon and the cloaks on the ground have matching symbols. You find a piece of curved wood - several in fact - that also has this symbol burned into it. From your previous experience, you suspect that this was a merchant's cart. The way it careened off to the side of the road makes you believe that it was traveling in the same direction that you would need to go (towards Oakhurst). You would guess from the tracks you see - at least one pair of tracks with boots, some tracks that seem like someone is wearing rags on their feet (at least a couple), and a set of clawed tracks that are familiar to you (kobold), and in the muck you see a different track, looks like an animal though you're not sure what...
Map (Ithelion, this is the general map you have been working on. Ignore the black dot until the portal though, as you didn't see that.

Garnet sheathed her sword and looked about at the,the mess for lack of a better thought. Reaching out she took a few of the papers in hand, absently holding onto them while she scanned the area. She knew it was an attack, by beast, or bandits, or she suspected a little of both. What tugged at her was it's significance, was it random for profit, cruelty, or an omen of what they could face in Oakhurst. Looking to the others she waved to them conveying that to her knowledge it is safe to approach.
Turning to Ithelion Garnet frowned " You think someone was taken?" She waved her hand outwards " Explain." Garnet did not speak offensively just with sencerity, her senses feel muffled and she just wants to hear the elf's thoughts.
Investigation: 18
( Mainly want to know what to make of this/ if it's just random carnage or significant)
Ithelion looks taken aback, but answers promptly, "There are at least two sets of tracks...plus some others. And no bodies, other than horses. Who was driving the wagon?"
@lorell - the wolf is still quite a ways away. While it is not hostile to you, it doesn't cover your friends. Do you want to break away from the group a bit and try to interact with the wolf?
@garnet - you look at the tracks and the blood and the wagon. Taken altogether, it doesn't require a giant leap for you to make some guesses about what happened: merchant cart carrying goods, arrows from the forest, drag marks on the ground leading to the forest...this was likely an ambush. However, looking at the strange markings around the horse, the presence of a live horse, some of the arrows that weren't recovered - this doesn't make sense. You wait for your allies to join you, a puzzled look on your face while you try to understand this strange thing. You suddently feel very far from home...
((OOC: how close is the wolf to us in relation to the dead horse and the carriage? Would there be a way for me to call the wolf over to us, or tell it to come over?))
Currently, Garnet and Ithelion are at the cart looking around. Krom, Daemyar, and Lorell, you are still about 100 feet away. The wolf is a further 40-50 feet behind you. The wolf is not hostile to you, Lorell, but the same can't be said of your companions (however, you can try to convince the wolf they mean it no harm).
A charmed creature can’t Attack the charmer or target the charmer with harmful Abilities or magical effects.
The charmer has advantage on any ability check to interact socially with the creature.
@lorell - the answer is yes. Try to think of the wolf in a similar way to a dog but wilder, obviously. You have advantage on interactions with the wolf but it IS an animal so you might need to get creative ;)
Daemyar is going to move out and around the scene with the wagon, giving a very wide berth. He’ll look in the woods at the trail for any clues about what was dragged and what did the dragging
Lorell is going to go back to the wolf and give it another ration, then points towards the rest of the party and says "They are friends, they mean you no harm. Why don't you come with us, I'm sure it will be interesting?"
((OOC: I'm going to roll a nature check on the charmed wolf to figure out what its intentions are... I'm also going to roll a Charisma check to see if my words actually convince it.))
@daemyar - you can tell at least 2 somethings were dragged across the ground. Whatever it was, one thing is for certain: it was leaking blood. From this angle, even despite having some difficulty, you can see an entrance covered with some vines and shrubs. In front of the entrance, resting against a rock, lies a bloody and ripped Simple, padded helmet. More than that, you can’t tell. @lorell - you step away from the others, detaching your form from theirs. You walk about 20 feet towards the wolf. You hold out the ration and the wolf walks forward. As it takes it, it feels your request. Perhaps it’s the novel surprise at communicating with such creatures (rather than eating it) but the wolf breaks off to your left and into the forest. It enters about 120 feet south of Daemyar and you don’t see it. @krom - while you don’t immediately recognize the symbol itself, you get the sense, from the crudeness of the markings, that it’s likely a ritual of some sort but none you’ve ever seen before. You inspect the cart and the cloaks. From your time spent, well as a dwarf, you recognize some of the metal pieces Scattered around, and the telltale sign of curved wood all but gives it away: casks. Sniffing the air - there it is - the scent of ale. The crests on the cart, burned into some of the pieces of wood, and on the cloaks: you’re pretty sure this was a merchant cart on its way to Oakhurst. You reflect sadly on the tragedy of wasted alcohol...

Lorell reaches out his hand towards the wolf to try and touch it's ears.
Ithelion looks more closely at the cart; are there any good left, or signs of what the goods may have been.
In any case, she says "I fear a merchant may have been taken. We should do what we can to help."
She looks over the scene again and says, "It looks like kobolds and maybe something larger."

(well that roll sucked, will probably just wait a bit to see how the others react to the area)
