Just before going into the cave but after threatening the kobald (and placing himself behind the kobald), Wash drops the held blast and casts Mage Hand next to Balassar, or more specifically next to the healer's kit Wash had Balassar hang off his belt.
[DM, I'm hoping you allow mage hand to be used like this. There is a Sage Advice here, but obviously any DM decision overules that, and I'll be fine if you say that doesn't work.]
The kobold is mostly just scared of Balassar, but he seems to be holding in place for the moment.
(OOC: Yes, using a mage hand to apply a healer's kit at range is fine.)
Alton, you are stepping nimbly forward, following the loud clanking footsteps of Balassar in his armour and the strange efforts of Wash apparently to dislodge every single loose rock on the path and send it clattering noisily below. You think the waterfall drowns out most of the noise.
Balassar, you take the lead, headed along the rocky ledge. Beyond the rushing spray of water is a dry cavern. Multiple lanterns shed light across the rocky interior, revealing a floor thickly strewn with dried bat guano, a small tent and table, a steel door set into the far wall, and two wide workbenches. A female gnome is working at the farthest bench, shackled to a chain set into the rock wall. Two kobolds sit around the table near the tent, playing a dice game with a familiar-looking gray-skinned goliath.
She looks up. Damn. Another bloody card game ruined. And she and the kobolds stand.
Alton will move past Wash and take up the spot next to him and will aim his crossbow at the goliath. "Sken Zabriss, you are under arrest for assault and other stuff and we are here to take you in." Alton will fire his crossbow at the goliath.
Movement: 25 feet in a straight line down. Action: Attack: 21Damage: 12 Piercing

Sken grunts as the crossbow bolt hits her, and you see the bolt actually shatter against her skin, as though she was made of stone.

On her turn, she growls in anger. Foolish slaves of the Dwendalian fop. Your Empire will burn! As she speaks, she charges Alton, and swings at him with her longsword:

It's a powerful blow; Alton, you know that if this had hit, it would have taken you down in one strike.
The kobold prisoner squirms, attempting to free itself: 23
And it succeeds, though it is bloody and injured from the attempt. It rushes away towards the other kobold; Wash and Balassar, you can both take Opportunity Attacks if you wish.
As the kobold tries to escape Balassar will take a swing at him with his scimitar. As he watches the action unfold he will move behind the goliath and swing at her.
Wash looks worried at how hurt Balassar is looking, and releases some of the celestial light stored inside him [bonus action Healing Light, Balassar heals: 5 - also Hambergler, did you update your character sheet when I healed Balassar up at Nima's shack (post here)?]
Wash then disengages and moves out of immediate danger [Action: disengage, Movement: 2 squares up]
Alton will disengage and move to protect Balassar's back, holding his crossbow up at the ready. "Balassar, your kind descended from dragons. Are you going to let some goliath push you around? Show 'em what dragons are made of."
Action: Disengage Movement: To the square to behind Balassar Bonus Action: Bardic inspiration on Balassar. For 10 minutes, the creature can add 1d6 to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. Once the Bardic Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost.

Alton darts around Sken, who takes a swing at him but cannot cannot, and he moves behind Balassar.
C'mere, little rat, the goliath says. She also moves around Balassar, keeping a wary eye on the dragonborn's scimitar, but she slashes her longsword toward Alton:

I'll gut you all, she snarls in frustration as the blow misses. Take you to Xhorhas to feed the beasts.
The recently-escaped kobold grabs a crossbow and takes aim at Balassar: Nasty, putting me in chains. Die now, he shouts in draconic:

The bolt goes wide, flying out and into the falling water.

Balassar moves putting the goliath between the kobolds and him. He just roars as he looks at her with narrowing eyes "Going to gut you like the filth you are."
