Pormas dons the sword and rests the shield against the tiller at the same time removing fishing gear from beneath it. "I heard Bree mention fishing? Feel free to use the gear while I cast us off and get us underway." He unties the rope from the dock and pushes off.
(So I came up with a system for fishing :) Every cast requires 2 rolls. You can add your Nature or Survival proficiency. It's a DC10 to get a bite. The next roll is landing the fish. You will need to beat whatever your first roll is to land the fish. Your first roll also determines the size of the fish. DC10 is small (1/2 meal) DC15 is medium (1 meal) DC20 is large (2 meals) DC25 is huge (4 meals.) Rolling a natural 20 on the first roll and you snag something. There is a very small chance that it's something useful that fell into the river from the battle. Rolling a Nat 1 on the first roll and you snag on something that breaks your line. He has 10 hooks total. It takes time to catch fish based on size. 5 mins, 10 mins, 20 mins, 40 mins respectively.)
Once away from the dock he says "We've got about 2 hours before we should start traveling in earnest. Feel free to fish if you'd like. Fresh is always better than salted hey?"
(So anyone who wants to fish to kill some time feel free. It's just for fun and flavor so anytime folks want to move on just let me know)
"I love fishing!" Nolla says at the sight of the fishing gear. she takes a pole nad moves to the side of the raft.
Survival: 18 / 24
"Wow, that one's a big one..." She says as her line gets tugged hard. She pulls back, trying to pull in the fish, but it gets off the line. "Oh, it got away..." She says with an amused smile. With a shrug she tries again.
Bree watches Nolla cast out first, silently observing. Then, as Nolla gets a big tug on the line, the little halfling comes in close. "Ayup, that's it lass. Keep it coming in....keep going..." she whispers, staring intently at the line. That's a good 'un.
Then as the fish gets away, she pats the human's shoulder consolingly. "Ya done good lass. Great technique fer an amateur --keep trying. Ye will be get it just stick with it."
Unable to take just watching any longer, Bree grabs some fishing gear and tries herself (I have advantage on all fishing checks through my background.)
Survival: 19
Feeling a fair sized bite herself, Bree will wink at Nolla and grit her teeth, trying to bring the fish onto the Vera. As Wellby watches, he hovers near Bree, claws pinching in anticipation.
Reeling it in: 21
After ten minutes of battling, she pulls up a medium-sized cod, which she carefully keeps away from Wellby's hungry claws clipping at it. "Still got it!" She crows, quickly showing off to the others on the boat. "Jes' wish we had some chips to cook 'er with."
(Not that it makes much difference but you're fishing in a river similar to say the upper Nile. Native fish would be more like catfish, eel, perch, tigerfish, carp)

Seeing the strain on Bree's line Pormas lets out a whoop "There ya go. That's a nice size fish. Yup, nice and steady!" When she gets it onto the raft Pormas gives Bree a friendly slap on the back "Well I guess you weren't fibbin about yer time on the water! At least one of us will be eating good tonight"
He then sets an appraising eye to the water. "Doesn't look like we got any crocs attention either"
At the second bite, Nolla smiles, it feels small, but she works it nearly to the raft before it slips free and plops back into the water. With a shrug she tries a third time.
On the third bite she feels a good solid tug and grins as she works the line again. This time she pulls a medium-sized catfish up onto the raft and smiles over her shoulder to the others. "Got one." She informs them.
Enjoying watching his companions fish, and hopeful for a fresh dinner, Perdot will stand next to whomever is fishing, and if they get a bit, will reach over to touch their hand, giving guidance to assist them in reeling it in ((+ 1d4 on the second roll to bring it in)).
Boriglar takes the fishing line and unwinds it around his arms, spinning the hook overhead in circles before casting it out. He rolls his wrists in and out to start reeling it in. He feels a bite. “Hello little fella.” He begins to spin his arms and twist around to bring it in.
Survival: 13
(correct me if I got this wrong)
As a large eel slithers up onto the deck. Boriglar picks it up. “Am I doing this right?”
(I was wondering if guidance was going to come into play :) Nice!)
Nolla keeps casting and pulls up a nice fish on her third try while Boriglar lands one right out of the gate.
Those of you keeping an eye out (and Perdot, with his ridiculously high passive:) can see eye's of crocodiles poking up through the river in places. Some are staying still, just waiting close to the bank. Some are very slowly moving through the river.
Those watching, probably everyone at this point because the folks who are fishing are looking at their lines being reeled in see two different sets of crocodile eyes change direction quickly and start following the fish in towards the raft. Pormas calls out "Oi, we got incoming. Damn crocs, They'll come right up onto the raft!"
(I like to do follow ups to damage in my posts so it's easier for me to track damage as we go, but no one has to wait for me before posting if they are next in initiative :)
Corins first shot goes wide but the second hits. It doesn't sink in very deeply though causing 4 dmg.
Boriglar moves to the edge of the boat where they are seen. Crouching down in a ready position and waits for something to try and attack or get within reach.
Gotcha Boriglar. Prepped action waiting for range. (By the way. Let's say they are about 20' from the raft) Perdot casts his faerie fire. Dex save: 8
Both crocs get surrounded by a purple glow giving advantage on attacks against it. (Boriglar, both your attacks are going to hit anyway but if you want to roll for the chance to crit?)
Roardaar grasps his dragon claw amulet and feels the power of his draconic ancestors flood through him as a Ray of Frost streaks out toward one of the crocs.
Attack: 25 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
