Following after Ramious, Leon frowns at the floating river. He eyes the hole the water floats away through. "Hard to say what is past that wall." He comments. "Shall I send my familiar to see what is in that direction?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Very well." Leon says, mentally summoning his familiar back to his side. he end the owl flying down the river, heading into the wall the river passes into. The owl will only go 100 feet, so only as far as it can before it leaves Leon's ability to see through its senses.
No such luck - the kayaks are empty. By the way, the stream is quite fast and the surface of it is 5 feet off the floor, getting into the kayaks would not be an easy feat.
The Owl flew into the tunnel (6ft wide, half-filled it allowed the bird to fly freely). At first, it reported nothing except more darkness. But right before the link was about to break, the owl saw some light at the end of the tunnel - not a pleasant kind, though, and it felt as if temperature begun to rise.
"Not good." Leon says as he opens his eyes. he nods to the tun nel the river flows into. "Looks like a bit of a dangerous end to this river, so, if we go that way, we'll have to watch as we get close to the other end." Leon descirbes what he saw just before he lost contact with the owl. He also summons his owl back to his side, so as not to have it roaming down the tunnel. He then moves towards the water, holding up his trident. "Can you ask the fish here what is further along this water?" Leon asks the weapon.
Alyssa would correct and smooth out her gear. She'd find herself in a room with canoes and a flowing stream. Although a bit threatening, as Leon's owl discovered, truthfully, even natural rivers are unpredictable. She would silently take a moment to herself. The archaeologist would reflect on how it was the closest thing resembling a natural feature outside of this mountainous volcanic dungeon. It was mysteriously eerie, yet beautiful and refreshing in a way.
Inhaling a breath, A would turn back to look for Bernard. She'd reach a hand out for him to come check it out with them. "What do you think our chances are of Leon finding fish in here?" The scholar would ask the ranger. "Would they listen to them and help strangers?" She'd mutter more in musings to herself before adding in a whisper, "Our very own aquatic man." A small smirk tugged at her lips.
Alyssa would then take a few steps to bring herself to Leon's side at the rivers edge. She'd crouch down to get a closer look. After waiting a little, as to not to disturb Leon's chance at communicating with potential fish, the elf would eventually make gentle gestures with one hand, and then switching to the other while humming a melody to herself. She was using her magic to test its affects and if there was anything she could offer as food for thought.
(Playing with Mold Earth and Shape Water to see if there was anything she may be able to do to adjust or manipulate the water flow: to slow it down? Ease their travel through? Safely dock the canoes for boarding?)
It was an interesting experiment and yield some results. Earth spell could not help much - the walls of the tunnels were solid rock, probably enchanted as well. With the stream (there was no doubts about enchantment here) the spells worked better. Alyssa did manage both - make the section to flow backwards and/or freeze it. However, it was a bit like freezing a section of a waterfall - possible for a few moments (the water could not escape the invisible non-material "tube") but the speed of the stream was so fast and the pressure so high, the ice plug was moved away fast. Still, it could give a few moments to climb in the kayaks once the kayaks are placed in the stream, should the party decide to go boating into the unknown tunnel.
Has dawn come since the eagle whistle was last used?
"If dawn has occured outside, then we could use my eagle whislte to help some people get into the kayaks. Or even fly there. Also, depending if we have enough rope, we could hammer a piton down and knot a rope to it. That could help slow use down to the pace we want to travel..." Bernard says. He shrugs his shoulders, "Just a thought."
Ramious looks around at the group, "I mean, I don't think I'm that keen on going down there. If we are, the owl should go all the way to the eerie light and see what it is. It would suck if it's just a river into a big lava pit where we die. There's still a door back there we can check-out before we really think about trying this river. Want me to go take a peek and let us know what's through there?"

(Sorry, thought Leon wanted Bernard to talk to fish)
Fish don't talk. Not the way normal animals would (though, animal talking is questionable too). Still, Wave agreed to try and extract some information from the pale blind scalie. What he got - and sent straight to Leon's head - was more of feeling and sensations. Fish did not know what was that light, but Leon got the desire to stay in the stream by any means possible, the sense of danger ahead - the mass of boiling hot water, where the stream was the only protection and only until it could keep its cool temperature. The safest spot (from the fish perspective) was upstream inside the tunnel the stream was running from. For fish, it was a constant circle of cool/hot - the first one they try to prolong, the second - shorten.
But without the means of steering the kayaks, Leon got a feeling, the party might not manage to stay in the stream once it leaves the tunnel and meets boiling water.
"Likely best to check the other room before moving forward." Leon says with a nod. "The water ahead," he nods towards the direction he had his owl scout, "is boiling, so I am concerned that we are talking about lava, or some other natural heat source in that direction."
(DM, Does the river start in this chamber, or is there a second hole in the other wall that the water flows into this chamber from?)
"Nothing in that direction, at least close-by." Leon says. He also couldn't come up with a way to propel them against the current, not without paddles. "I'd say check the other door, then we can see if we need to try the river or not." He follows Ramious out and towards the second door.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ramious nods and heads back into the hallway. He stays 10 feet ahead of the group as usual, and watches for any suspicious traps. Once at the door he gives it a look for traps, before trying to crack it open a bit to peer through.

Leon sends his owl to check in the other direction from where it scouted previously.
This time it was darkness all the way (for 100ft). The tunnel turns at some point and goes north.
