As the party ventures farther, presumably, southeast, they come upon an area that carries the stench of death. The area is covered in heavy undergrowth.
Nenne's senses tingle this time in recognition of a creature that has risen from the grave. The energy is faint however, coming only in traces. The cleric's senses are drawn to the boulder over the...the huge reptile over there.
Seeing the reptile lying on its side, Boosey creeps silently towards the massive beast in attempt to find out if it is the source of the smell of death that has invaded the jungle.
Joining Boosey, Funderburk also attempts to stealthy creep on the monster. However, not paying attention to how stealthily he was actually being (nat 1).
Boosey comes to realize that the creature is rotting badly. Most of its belly shows exposed ribs and small scavenger creatures scurry away as the sounds of Funderburk plod closer. The creature has been dead for quite some time as the decay indicates. Perhaps more disturbing to the gnome is the dead dwarf nearby. The dwarf is lying at the base of a large tree unmoving.

"Watch yourselves," Nenne calls out, following the casters."This creature is now dead, but it was once unnaturally raised." She will scan the surroundings for any signs of hostiles in the trees. (Perception 12)
Ever the wary one, Allister pokes the dwarf before anyone has a chance to really interact with the poor fellow. When he doesn't move, the fighter nods to Boosey who flips the body over onto its backside. The smell of death is refreshed in the area as the chest of this dwarf is in a poor state. There are six holes piercing through his armor and chest, which Funderburk quickly comes to realize that are the work of the dead creature's tail spikes. It looks as if the thing caught the dwarf squarely in the chest right up against this tree. Boosey is thinking that the poor sod never stood a chance when he spots a ring on the dead dwarf's finger. The ring is malachite and inlaid with electrum.
"There is no chance this poor soul brought down the creature by himself," Nenne declares after inspecting the stegosaurus and the dwarf. "He had friends. And not good ones, considering they took his valuables and left him here to rot." Her cheeks burn burgundy. She curses in her native tongue. "Despicable."
Squinting at the fallen undead, she mutters, "I won't have this man become that which killed him. A moment of your patience again, friends." And she proceeds to sing a quiet dirge, ritual casting Gentle Repose.
Allister looks around the area, trying to find any signs of other bodies or tracks of fleeing combatants. „Well, if he had any friends they were not here. Pretty much no one was here as far as I can tell. Can anyone tell if this ring is special?“
After investigating the body and Nenne begins her ritual, the stench from the dead lizard and dwarf become overwhelming for the gnome. He moves way from them and quietly finds a place to retch, upwind of the reek.
As Allister searches the battlefield with Eku, the two of them cock their ears to a stray sound. One by one the party look to each other not sure where it's coming from and then all of a sudden the underbrush bursts forth giving way to six creatures. Their tongues wagging out of their mouths they come on hungry and ravenous!

Sthara, your passive perception put you surprised for this encounter. Your initiative is rolled with disadvantage and the first round you are surprised.
Spotting the creatures quickly, having stopped vomiting, Boosey lifts his crossbow and fires it at one of the creatures. Not waiting to see where the shot falls, he moves back towards the others, not wishing to be left fighting these things alone.
The creatures come racing forward, tearing through the underbrush. The creature Boosey shoots and takes the bolt in the gut but doesn't seem to notice as it rushes on. It swipes out at the gnome, but he has the sense to use his low height and duck even lower. The swipe goes wide over the bard's head.

Moving to the left, 10ft in Funderburk notices the predicament Nenne is in a decides to cast his spell. Aiming for the two creatures attacking her, he lifts his staff and aims it at the two creatures. Lightning spews forth, straight at the two beings. "Nenne, I have your back friend!" Funderburk yells.
The creature closest to the tree hears the gathering energy and turns is cold eyes away from the cleric just in time to see the bolt start. It throws itself back against the tree instinctually avoiding some of the blast. The second creature isn't so lucky as it takes the blow to the chest. Its stinking har dances on end as its muscles jerk and twitch from the electricity.
As Allister falls back out of melee range with so many of the foul creatures, Eku runs forward taking quick aim at one of the creatures. The arrow thuds into the thing's shoulder leaving the protruding shaft visible. The guide drops her bow to the ground at her feet and draws her dagger. She calls out, "Don't get surrounded!"

"What under heaven happened here?" Nenne asks, invoking her deity's power once again for any signs of undead.

„This place stinks like death and and trouble. Don’t tell me we have to travel through this area, Eku?“

Holding his breath, and trying not to gag, Boosey cautiously moves over to investigate the chainmail clad Dwarf.
Allister walks over to the dwarf, eyeing him cautiously and pokes his rapier into his mail, just to provoke a reaction. „Hello? You still breathing?“
