Watching as the tunnel lit, Lemon tells the group he'll inspect the other tunnel and be back in a moment to tell them what he found. He then proceeds to leave and inspect.
After Boosey leaves the tunnel, Nenne's inspection comes after a nagging feeling that something is missing. The eladrin moves down the passage inspecting all of it thoroughly. At the end of the passage, she discovers a small niche near the floor, conveniently carved to match the floor so as to remain hidden from a standing position.
"I found a door of some kind," the cleric calls out from the tunnel. She points to it when anyone comes to investigate. Frowning somewhat, she emerges from the tunnel and tosses a chagrined look at Eku.
"The abjuration magic within the other tunnel is strong," she admits. "I can attempt to dispel it, should the need arise. I have a strong suspicion that whatever lies beyond would find you a fearsome opponent. Then again, it could be equally as dangerous for you. There can only evil and darkness beyond that door, and I am tired of losing friends."
She looks back at everyone else. "So, who wants to open this new door?"
Lemon, now back when all the commotion started arising, raised his hand. "I be willin' to." He looked to his friends, "No offense to any of ye, but I seem to be able to... take more hits hehe. Physical anyways..." He steps towards the door, and spitting on his hands and clapping them together, gets down, and attempts to open it.
"Let's see what's beyond then." The gnome re-enters the passage, and looks closely at the place Nenne described. He grunts at it, realising how easily it was missed. Putting his fingers into the niche, he tries to lever it until there is movement in the door.
Eku shakes her head at Nenne and says, "I have felt it too. The magic is strong. Save your spells. I suspect any magic you throw at it will be fruitless."
Lemon pulls the heavy stone door open to reveal a large statue of a flail snail. Hanging around the snail's neck is a golden pendant shaped like an eye.
Lemon, looking to anyone around him, says, "Any of ye wanna 'elp me 'ere and either take the whole statue or just this 'ere... pendant?" Realizing then that the pendant was something he alone could carry, he instead reached for the pendant and showed it off. "Any of ye know what this 'ere pendant be?"
"I sense more divination magic coming from it." She turns an eye to the obelisk before looking back at the necklace. "I wonder if that is the mask the warning referred to. Don the mask or be seen."
"Ye sayin' I gotta put this 'ere pendant on elf?" Lemon gives a shrug, and even before Nenne could respond or not, he puts it over his neck, and gives a thumbs up. "See?"
Suddenly, Lemon's face flashes in pain, he freezes in place, stopping whatever he was doing and staying completely still. No noise comes from Lemon, however he remains unchanged, as if something held him there.
Giving out a laugh and apologizing for such a joke, Lemon slaps Allister on the back with an apologetic grin. "'Ad to do it to ye all hehehe."
After his talk with Allister, Lemon looks to Nenne and nods head. "Maybe ye might be right." Lemon, with the pendant still on, looks to where the cubes are and looks to see if anything changed. If not, he'll walk to where the obelisk is and check as well.
As soon as Lemon comes out of the small tunnel and gets within ten feet of the obelisk, the pendant comes off of his chest, tugging slightly in its direction. The gargoyles once again seem aggitated by proximity to the obelisk.
Nenne eyes the gargoyles warily. "Perhaps it's wise to give the obelisk some berth, beastspeaker," she cautions the druid. "Come, let's see if this token reveals anything in the other tunnel."
She skirts the obelisk at a distance and peers once more into the tunnel with the cubbies, waving for Lemon to follow.
The gargoyles snap their jaws and ready their pounce as Lemon touches the pendant to the obelisk. It appears their frustration is nearing its limit, though they remain perched atop their ledges. Nothing changes with the pendant.
Not sure of what else needs to be done, Lemon takes a step back and puts his hands to his beard in a ponding stance. He then pipes up, looks to his friends with a smile and a thumbs up, almost as if to say, 'Watch this', and proceeds to look through the pendant once more to see if he could see anything, while also... licking the stone.
"For heaven's sake, desist!" Nenne hisses. She points up at the gargoyles. "They are guardians and will do us no harm if we respect that obelisk. This is recklessly pointless."
After a while, and some more fruitless investigation, Boosey lays the cubes out under the pattern in the wall and steps back. “Well, we have to try this at some point. Let’s see what happens!”
Using mage hand he begins to lift the cubes carefully into the slots from a distance. Once the final one is in place he says to Lemon.
“Can you stand between the cubes and the obelisk? It may be dangerous and trigger something, but it’s unlikely!”

Allister walks over and tries to take the pendant off.
Allister discovers that Lemon is only kidding around as his smile betrays the dwarf upon the fighter's concerned approach.
Nenne sighs wearily at the druid's antics, ready to chastise him, when a sudden thought crosses her mind.
"We have nine cubes and eight niches to place them in the tunnel. I wonder if this pendant reveals a ninth slot."
Giving out a laugh and apologizing for such a joke, Lemon slaps Allister on the back with an apologetic grin. "'Ad to do it to ye all hehehe."
