Counting his darts carefully multiple times over he looks up to Nenne’s question. “Well... that does sound like the safest way of handling it.” He delicately collects the darts and stores them on his person before drawing his bow as a sign of willingness.
The first few hands are easy shots. They don't move or react to the party exiting the dome. Careful aim with plenty of time for it put them down, seemingly for good. The party goes on the hunt for the rest, picking them off im whatever corner they've crawled into.
"That was refreshingly straightforward," the cleric says with a hint of a puzzled frown. She stows her crossbow and considers the door once again.
"Someone or something attempted to lift the door. I would like to know what lies beyond, and what danger is without, if any. Stay here unless you hear something concerning." Carefully and quietly, she steps out of the dome and vanishes. The more perceptive of her companions can hear her armor as she pads across the room to the door to peer through one of the holes.
Nenne quietly returns to her friends and drops her invisibility.
"We cannot exit through there," she warns them. "Another one of those armored flesh bags has taken his post at the door. More may come. Should we leave the lone sentry be or attempt to dispatch it through the door?"
After some discussion, it is decided that Glimbul will attempt to destroy the thing through the door holes. With some help, the rogue manages to hit the creature with one of his magical darts. After this, the creature wordlessly moves further to the side of the balcony out of view.
"I know I am a font of occasionally suffocating caution," she mentions almost in apology, "but I have concerns the creature has left for reinforcements. We are poorly equipped for a battle with one, let alone multiple. Perhaps it's wise for us to fall back into the other room and close the trap door behind us in case they breach this chamber. Or shore up some defenses or traps of our own, at least."
She looks at her scorched armor a moment and sighs. "Yet, I will defer to you. Whatever you think is best."
„If you fear it will go and come back in bigger numbers we should attack it now. Glimbul has enough darts that we all have an enchanted weapon to hurt it. Better to fight one now than two or three later.“
Shades of blue start to crowd out the faint peach in her complexion. "I see the wisdom in that, much as I wish I didn't," she admits begrudgingly. "If we must do this, then I will call upon Kelemvor's censure the instant I can. That is the most help I can give to you in my current state, my friend. I cannot heal you, nor can I protect you from its touch. You will need to be deadly and swift."
"The both of you may have to do this alone. If I leave this place the hut will fail, besides I have little magic left that is of any use in combat. I will help if needed, but do not expect too much of me."
„I have more than enough fight left in me for one of these things. If it brings a friend along, it will be very different. I don’t know how fast its wound will heal, so we better act now and deal with it swiftly. We can open the gate a bit so we can see if it is still alone. If it is, let’s hit it hard and fast.“
Boosey looks at the others in disbelief. "This idea is foolish. We all go, or we all stay, one or the other. Two of us are in no state to fight, attacking this thing could be the end of us." The gnome looks to Allister. "I realise you are keen to fight this creature, but we are better as a group. Even if there are more we stand a better chance if we work together. What if Glimbul and I get stuck in here? We cannot lift the door ourselves."
Boosey calls to Allister and Glimbul. "We can lift this to let Nenne see where this thing is, though I still believe this whole idea to be foolish and impetuous. The fear of this place is getting to you all."
Nenne glances back at the bard and pauses when she sees significant agitation on his features. "A moment," she says briskly to Allister as latent concern blossoms in her chest. She kneels before Boosey and looks at him diagnostically, and softly. "Are you all right? You don't seem like yourself."
His face firms with determination. "We have had a day that has seen us all walking a knife edge. I would not see my friends do something rash out of an irrational fear of the future, this is not the time to pick a fight, though Allister seems determined to." As he finishes a thoughtful expression passes over his face. "I wonder if this may be Kubazan's doing. It is true that Papazotl is trying to influence me with weasel words," he gives a grimace, "he thinks I should let you all perish from your own foolishness." He meets Nenne's gaze intently. "I will not let that happen, you are all too precious to me." He shuffles his feet, suddenly self conscious. "We will defeat this place, but we must not start a fight when half our number are as weak as kittens. Finish our rest and recover our strength, or find a better strategy than Allister throwing himself mindlessly at a dangerous foe."
"It is hardly ever the time to pick a fight," the cleric regretfully agrees, "but the warrior is advocating we fight one on our terms, rather than theirs. At this point, I see no reasonable rebuttal. As for Papazotl...we will deal with that later. Keep fighting him. You'll break my heart if you don't."
„Why is looking at your foe, taking advantage of the weapons we have at hand and use it to our advantage mindless? He is not going away, there are only more coming. And we don’t know when and how many. We control the battlefield if we act now. Hell, we can even just open the gate wide enough to cut at its legs if it comes here. Let us take a look and decide what to do afterwards.“
Boosey is silent, and it lingers on for some time as he seems to stare at the ground in front of Nenne. Looking up, he nods once decisively. "Then we do it now. There's no time to waste." With that the gnome moves to the door. "Well, help me lift this thing then!"
Allister grins and gives Boosey a friendly slap on the back. „A quick look, and then we will decide how to proceed. I’m not keen on dying, either. We lift the gate about as high as your legs, this should be enough for now.“ Together they lift the gate about one and a half foot up
A quick glance is enough to confirm that the creature is lurking 20 feet away in a corner. Concerned about more joining it, the party discusses a recon mission to confirm it is alone. Allister volunteers, and Nenne shakes her head.
"I am better suited for this. If anything goes awry, I can teleport to safety faster than you could flee or engage. And besides, they need you more than they need me. I will go."
She touches her amulet, which glows a gentle red with Kelemvor's Guidance and waits for her friends to get into position before turning invisible.
After some more talk about what to do, the party concocts an idea to lure the thing to them. Nenne casts sacred flame on the thing to apparently no effect. The moment Nenne becomes visible, the creature charges forward throwing itself under the door.
