The long-haired form in tattered rags consults his knowledge, and weighs matters... 9 and 3
Suddenly somewhat less contemptuous, his arcane words of magic and ghostly, skeletal humanoid claw manifest this time before the massive, looming threat of Belmort, reaching wide as it rakes at him...

And misses, the Necromite spewing hoarse curses as he backs away into the larger sewer tunnel to the south. Liquids splash with his footfalls as he looks north and west, his voice rising in the cavernous space he stands...
"Hold the damn line; the Dark Three demand her! Kill the runt and the lizard! Archer!"
The wounded Fist of Bane at the fore, still staggering from the frost covering and the crossbow bolt protruding from him, nonetheless returns once more to his defensive stance, mace and shield braced before him to anticipate and deflect attack as he snarls up at the Dragonborn.
“Just embrace the fear, lizard...she's ours.”
OOC: The Fates turn your way again, perhaps, and with yet more revealed. A tactical map to follow, and Murdoch has the initiative!
OOC: Grabbing some quick lunch, and noticed that my tactical map never posted last night after I submitted it? Apologies, all!
OOC: Amazing shot, Murdoch! I'd ask that you edit post #307 (and ONLY #307, please) above in two ways: 1) re-roll your critical hit damage, as it didn't parse correctly; and 2) specify which Necromite - the one that just cast and stepped back, or the one with the torch. Thanks!
OOC: Casta, the above should answer your query as well, as Murdoch didn't target the Fist of Bane, and wouldn't therefore have need of your Inspiration, which I know you can put to good use elsewhere!
OOC: I appreciate the inspiration, but I targeted a Necromite; the casters behind the Fist. I didn't specify which one, but meant the closest. My odds of hitting a 20 AC (including cover) with disadvantage are not so hot, so I'll deal with the damage we're taking.
OOC: I stand corrected. In my fear and anxiety, I misread Murdoch's post based on my own personal bias that the Fist who whacked me is the scary threat, and the most wounded. Would have worked (in retrospect)!!

Murdoch's heavy crossbow bolt transfixes the ragged Necromite's forward leg, running him through perhaps a hand-width from his groin, and the sewer tunnel echoes faintly with his choked-down cry of agony. The one torch wavers violently in his spasming hand, but in the end remains held aloft, if barely.
11
As with the other Fist of Bane, the heavily armored archer erupts into action at the hoarse Necromite's urging. With the loud rasp of chain mail in explosive movement, he draws his heavy black mace, longbow still held in the other hand, and attacks the Rogue that has suddenly emerged to threaten him...

And strikes! The heavily armored warrior snarls in satisfaction as his mace strike connects with glancing yet still traumatic blunt force with Feldinor's left temple, and the Halfling is hurled against the sewer's western wall, crumpling to the wet stones at its base...
“The runt is no more; finish the lizard and be done.”
OOC: The first serious casualty, Adventurers; the Lady of Luck giveth, and taketh away! What can be done?!
OOC: Fimrold has the initiative, followed immediately by Rigor!

Fimrold squeezes past Casta
”Sorry lass, you’ll have to wait on that healing.”
and moves 10 additional ft South, confident in his ability to hold the front line if the mighty Dragonborn takes too many hits. He peeks around Belmort’s legs and casts another Sacred flame, dealing 8 Damage upon a failed DC 12 Dexterity saving throw.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Fimrold casts once more himself, and the shaft of flame-like radiance descends again upon the Fist of Bane, now badly wounded himself by bolt and frost, who earlier brutalized Casta.
DC 12 Dexterity Saving Throw with Advantage: 10 and 15
The Banite somehow manages to dodge the radiant flames again, if barely, but his eyes still burn with hate at the divine magic's return...
OOC: Completely understand your call, Fimrold; a shame to waste the max damage as well, with the enemy's repeated good fortune on the saves. Rigor has the initiative!
Rigor sweeps up Yokai’s dagger in his hand and leaps into action. He eases by both Yokai and Casta, and comes to a halt between her and Fimrold. The closest Fist of Bane stands within thrown dagger range.
“For that the Reaper will claw the flesh from your bones!” the Necromite with the torch yells, in a pained, ragged voice. Arcane words and a smoking spectral claw reaching for Murdoch follow…
17 and 18
And strike, even with Disadvantage, through the Necromite's savage rage at the crossbow bolt shot through him, bleeding profusely in a dark, growing pool on the tunnel's floor, mingling with the other run-off...
Location: 10 and Damage: 8
The skeletal claw plunges into the back of the prone Ranger's right shoulder and arm, blackening and decaying Murdoch's studded leather armor where it slashes in, necrotic wisps of foul smoke churning from the wounded flesh beneath. The Ranger convulses in agony, and does not rise from the wet stones.
“Take the runt if they don't back down; not dead yet...” The Necromite staggers back around the west corner into the deeper tunnel, and the gloom thickens in the narrower shaft…
OOC: Good day, Adventurers; a grievous turn of events - that Necromite's dice were on freaking fire! Murdoch joins Feldinor as a casualty, and the tunnel darkens somewhat, with the Necromite's retreat. Yokai has the initiative!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yokai sees his brethren fall at the hands of the Fist and a seething rage boils inside. His masks forms the relief a tiger's maw, but quickly shifts to that of a dragon's visage. "Anger is good, but wisdom is better" he thinks to himself. Quelling the rage, he moves into a darkened area north of Sorore. He runs up the side of the sewer, bounds off, and forms a glowing white dagger mid-air. He hurls the dagger over Sorore's head at the closest Fist while whispering "Back to Hell with you".
To-Hit: 17
Damage: 8 + 2
/OOC Yokai moves east 1 square, then north 4 squares, expending his full 30' of movement. After conferring with the DM, this area would be total darkness. Yokai has darkvision, so this should be a non-issue for him. I'm making a huge assumption that the Fists are without darkvision, since the lead guy is using a torch.
/OOC Darkness is considered a heavily obscured area (PHB 183). A heavily obscured area confers the blinded condition to someone trying to see something in that area (PHB 183). The blinded condition gives attacks against the creature advantage, and gives that creature disadvantage to attacking someone in that area (PHB 290).
/OOC If I'm reading all of that correctly, I should have advantage against the Fist of Bane. This would negate any disadvantage I may have from his Dodge action. If my logic above fails, Casta will allow me to use her Inspiration to negate the Fist's advantage from Dodge.
/OOC Yokai begins whittling a coffin for what will remain of Feldinor. ;P

Murdoch stands, (OOC: because firing from prone is disadvantageous in D&D) and levels his crossbow at the Necromite.
25 (OOC: not including the cover penalty in the attack roll)

He then falls prone again, gritting his teeth against the pain of the arrow in his hip. He reloads, ready for the next target.
That looks like a critical hit! The crossbow deals an additional 3 damage.
