Rianath leans forward and pats his horse's neck. "Don' worry, we won't let anythin' eat 'em," he calls over to Tikak. He follows Af's lead and adjusts his pace to present a more difficult appearing target, hoping to make the group less appealing a snack for the griffons.

The griffons let off a loud screech and dive, but instead of heading towards the group they bank around the mountainside and disappear from view. It seems they either were deterred from the new formation, or found easier prey. For the the next hour of travel you don’t notice them return.

Continuing on the road, you travel the next three hours with more caution, and the rest of the days trip is uneventful. You notice the horses are getting tired and the late afternoon is turning to evening. If anyone wants to look for a place to rest for the evening please make a Survival check.

Celia relaxes as the Griffons fly away, "That makes me feel better. Let's hope they don't come back."

Tikak stands up on the horse as it rides, looking for a place to stay.  He doesn't know it, but his pose is the same as a sailor manning a crow's nest.

Survival 6

(Side note, I'm nerfing Tikak's intelligence, because that makes the most sense for his character.)

Edit: Gotdang.  For an acrobat, Tikak is terrible at rolling.

"Aye, we'll hope so," Rianath responds to Celia. As they continue to ride, he occasionally stretches or rolls his shoulders, unused to being in a saddle for such long periods.

(Should more than one of us need to roll: Survival 9  Also, Tikak is a precious bean and Rianath and I both love him to bits and will protect him with Rianath's life. Just sayin'. )

Rianath, as you’re looking through the familiar mountains you’re able to spot a small cavern that can provide a good shelter for the travelers, while the carriage and horses remain outside.

Tikak, you get distracted while looking for a place to rest and start investigating these weird looking track marks in the snow. After a couple minutes of following them you realize you had been tracking Rianath...and look at that, you found a cave!

Tikak sees the suspicious tracks and follows them.  It's probably some giant based on the size of the footprints and their gait.  What is a gait?  They always say that in the stories that Kralag, the half-orc bodybuilder who used to read to him.  Tikak follows the steps for a while.  I have to make sure to look out for things that could eat our friends and our horses.  I will protect them!

Following the steps, he sees a squirrel run off into the woods.  I wonder where he is going, maybe I could see the giant if I climbed a tree- No.  I have to follow the giant's footprints.  He could eat or kidnap us!  Gotta stay focused.  

He follows the steps and sees a cave.  AHA!  It lives in a cave!  That makes sense.  I've heard that giants live in caves!  And this is a big one!  I.  WAIT A MINUTE!  Maybe we can sleep here!  I'll let everyone know!  Tikak hops up and down, cheering his ingenuity.  I am a good scout;  I can help.  Starting to walk back from the cave to alert the others, he sees Rianath.  "Ah, you must have followed me!  Look!  I found a place we can stay!  We may need to watch for a giant, but this place looks pretty comfortable and warm!  What do you think!?"

Rianath moves along forward, comfortable in his familiar surroundings. His eyes land on the cave, and he lets out a small breath in relief at the thought of resting for the night. He turns to let the others know and spots Tikak.

"Aye, you did well," he laughs in response to the kobold's words. "Let's let the others know what you found, eh?" He turns back with a wink,  moving over to the carriage.

"There's a cave up here," he lifts a hand to point it out, "that's big enough for the lot of us t'rest for the night. Horses and carriage will need ta stay outside, but watch will keep an eye on 'em."

Varic walks over as Rianath is talking and says, “Splendid! I’ll assist in getting the carriage secured near the cave and getting everyone settled. If you’d like I can help with...securing...our location.” As he finishes the sentence he smiles and gives you a wink. “The fewer creatures we attract to us the better.”

Celia nods, "Ya, don't want any griffons showing up in the middle of the night. What can you do?"

“Many things my dear. Once we get the cart moving I’ll make sure no tracks are left behind. As far as the griffons, I’m not sure I can do much. Throwing off the scent of six horses is no small task.”

"Ya..." Celia says, looking out the cave entrance to the sky, "let's hope they don't come looking for us."

It doesn’t take too long to get everyone settled in the cavern. Varic was able to hide the tracks (those that were looking saw him sprinkle various amounts of dust on the snow behind you) and the cart is stowed close to the cavern entrance. The horses are tied off to nearby trees and are also within view of the entrance. Firewood was packed for the journey so a few of the citizens are at work getting a fire started. The sky is now dark and the temperature is sharply dropping.

(Feel free to interject and change how the horses and carriage are situated)

Once it gets dark and everyone is settled, Tikak chirps up and says "I can take the first watch while you sleep, because I have plenty of energy!  Do we need to do anything else around before we go to sleep? I'm hungry!"

(AngiroZenjin I didn’t say it outright in the intro post but I do hold the expectation of one post a day. I notice that you post the least so let me know if you’re unable to meet that. I don’t want to be a jerk but one less person posting can hold up the rest of the group.)

(The RP was really strong at the beginning of the campaign, is there a reason it dropped off? As much as I want to push the campaign along I don’t want to keep interjecting in between areas of RP. I’m looking for a fourth player since AngiroZenjin is posting in other campaigns but hasn’t posted here in 3 days.)

(I'm still very interested in the campaign. I love the characters and I'm interested in seeing where this goes! I know things can be real slow in the beginning. )
